From USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a forbidden romance about an Irish rebel who falls in love with the wrong girl.Dear Diary, I might have gotten myself into a wee bit of trouble—and I’m not talking about the “court mandated community service,” or “therapy sessions from bashing a bloke in the head” kind of trouble. I wish it were that simple. Nope. I’m talking about the “falling …
Nope. I’m talking about the “falling in love with one of my client’s daughters,” kind of trouble . . .
The kind of problem I can’t talk my way out of when the truth gets out.
How I ended up with her phone is a long story—and when she called to get it back, I took things a bit too far. One innocent exchange wound up leading to so much more.
Fun, new, and totally immune to my charm, Sutton is different. And I had no idea she was the daughter of Foster Green.
Blame it on the dark colored stout running through my veins, pushing me toward one bad decision after another. Pushing me toward her even though I know right from wrong; even though she’s my client’s daughter.
Dating her might be the best or worst decision I’ve ever made. Only time, whiskey, and one more roll around the mattress with her will tell.

Roark McCool wants nothing more then to be numb from the world while holding a tumbler of whiskey in his hand but when he accidentally swaps phones with Sutton Green, he quickly falls for her innocent charm and challenging wit. He knows she’s not the girl for him, but he’s too tempted to stay away . . . even when he finds out she’s his client’s daughter.

Meghan Quinn has proven time and time again just how versatile of an author she can be. She comes up with some really funny, loving, yet douchey characters. Diary of a Bad Boy was no exception. The title alone drew me in. This book was a sexy and witty age gape, enemies-to-lovers romance.
Roark McCool is all cool and snarky. He’s a broody bastard with a Irish accent (yum). His vices include drinking, smoking (a lot of both), and losing his temper which is what gets him into trouble in the first place. He’s a respected sports agent and one fight in particular has him bumping (literally) into Sutton. He loses his phone and in turn ends up with her phone… Let the madness ensue, for it becomes a tantalizing game of cat and mouse between these two.
Sutton Grace Green is the complete opposite of Roark. She’s young, a bit naive, sassy, spunky, and ends up stuck with Roark’s phone. The bastard makes matters worse by not giving it back to her so easily. So Sutton becomes his shadow. Follows him everywhere. Sparks fly. Cue sarcastic and witty banter. She can’t stand him but she’s also attracted to him. It’s just a hot mess. Sutton is a character who wears her heart on her sleeve. You see her progress throughout, and spending time with Roark builds up her confidence.
Their chemistry is undeniable. Fate brings them together, especially when they soon realize they must work together since it turns out Sutton’s father is one of Roark’s major clients (yikes). I’m sure you can figure out how that goes.
I loved this book! There wasn’t a moment that didn’t have me laughing with Roark’s antics. Of course there were those frustrating moments as well, especially towards the end that just had me shaking my head #TeamRoark. Bonus, some beloved characters from The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister make a cameo . I definitely recommend that you not only read this book but all the books!!
Okay, can I have access to all the pages of Roark Diary? Really, I could spend a whole day only reading it and laughing out loud. We already know that Meghan Quinn is the queen of rom-com, so it’s with no surprise that this book is another 5-star read for me. Who doesn’t love a reformed bad boy and a good girl together? Their text messages were amazing and I loved reading about them. How the bad boy got not so bad and the good girl got not so good anymore! If you love rom-coms, read this one.
I finished this book yesterday, and I had to take time to process and try and form my words correctly. The first thing I have been thinking about is that I miss Sutton and Roark! Such a heavy book hangover! I have been wondering what they have been doing and did they get their hamburger craving fix? I wish it was real so that I go meet them for drinks! This is how I know that this book will be one of my all time favourites not only from Ms Quinn but ever.
We all go on about book boyfriends, and you will be hard pressed to find one better than Roark but I loved these two as a couple and individually as well. The banter was perfection, the small slow burn feel was an aphrodisiac and the intimacy was well….. hot! It ticked all the boxes for me, one of them is an enemies to lover trope.
Sutton may have been inexperienced and a little naive but she had a lot of wisdom that comes from having to deal with heartbreak at an early age. She was the ideal match for Roark. She was pushed out of her comfort zone a few times, but she held her own and gave as good as she got. Roark was divine. I loved his bad boy persona, it wasn’t extreme and he still had a soft side that only comes out when dealing with those that give him the same respect and loyalty that he gives. He had me from the first diary entry!
We saw a little of Roark in a previous book, The Secret to Dating Your Best Friend’s Sister, and I was so intrigued to know more about him, and I was more than impressed with him. I have two wishes, one that Rath gets his own book as his story is very appealing and it’s alluring me. Second wish is that within that book, we get to see a little more of Sutton and Roark, just like we did with Bram in this one. I will NEVER EVER forget Bram retelling his proposal attempt! True Quinn brilliance!
I love nothing more than a sexy Irish man, and a bad boy, so holy moly does this book hit all the right notes, along with Meghan’s perfectly absurd sense of humor (which I dig, big time!)
I love a good accidental romance . . . and in this day and age, who knew accidentally picking up the wrong phone, could lead to romance? As per usual, Meghan writes with heart and heat!

Another witty page-turner from Meghan Quinn! If you are looking for a fun book with wonderful characters, check it out.
There hasn’t been a single book that Meghan Quinn has written that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. Her writing style is an addictive blend of humor, emotion and heat. Her stories are so funny because her sense of humor is so wild, and she communicates it in a vivid way that inevitably has me laughing out loud. I easily get caught up in the hilarious antics and witty banter of her characters, forgetting that this author is sneakily adept at rendering me breathless with a power punch of feelings—something that she does to me time after time. Because I’m so wrapped up in the humor and romance, the emotional battering I suffer at her words never fails to surprise me, regardless of the fact that I know it’s coming.
I was drawn right into Roark and Sutton’s story from the first page. I love a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and Diary of a Bad Boy was a fantastic one. The deck was seemingly stacked against this couple from the start with not only a bit of an age gap, but also a forbidden edge due to the fact that Sutton was the daughter of one of Roark’s clients. They couldn’t have been more different with him a hard partying, rough-around-the-edges, jaded Irish alpha male, and her a hard-working, proper, and polite Southern girl. Yet they somehow worked spectacularly well together. I couldn’t get enough of their back-and-forth chatter, and the chemistry absolutely sizzled between them.
This couple’s first meeting was not an epic meet-cute—it was a crash and burn. Both of them stayed true to who they were in this book, something I really liked, and in doing so they wound up challenging each other in surprising ways. This unlikely pairing actually wound up balancing each other out, and I loved every single second of them finding their way.
Packed with all the feels, Diary of a Bad Boy was an emotional, sexy romance that made my heart ache as often as it raced. I laughed, I swooned, and I loved right along with Roark and Sutton as I devoured this book. Meghan Quinn’s Diary of Bad Boy gets five smooches from me!

Audio Review from July 2019
This story was great! It had a different spin on the typical contemporary romance “misunderstanding/break up”.
I was also laughing out loud almost immediately with this book!!! The male lead is freaking hilarious when writing in his diary!!
So much love for the narrators too!! Switching between Irish and American accents with ease.
Highly recommend!!
Narrated by: John Hartley, Lauren Ezzo
Pure romantic perfection!!! Roark’s bad boy image is something he’s completely ok with. He works hard and parties harder. He doesn’t see anything wrong with any of this. At least he didn’t until Sutton walks into his life. Now the bad boy has to decide if he has it in him to actually try for a real relationship.
Meghan Quinn writes so flawlessly that it’s as if I can’t picture the entire book as if it were a movie playing out in front of my eyes. “Watching” Roark’s life taken by storm by a woman was everything I look for in a good book. In addition to the relationship between Roark and Sutton I love the dynamic between Roark and his boys. The support they offer each other is something you don’t see often in books. Their bromance is both touching and hilarious at the same time.
I read this series out of order starting with book 3, then reading 1 and finally 2. I don’t think it made much of a difference but if you’re a lover of a good series then I recommend starting at the beginning. 5 stars for sure! I look forward to also listening to this in audio format in the future.
Oh Roark! What a guy he turned out to be. Learning his terrible childhood gives answers to his drinking and fighting ways. Then enters Sutton, the good girl, to turn his world upside down. There was a lot of back and forth between them and although it did drag on a bit I still enjoyed this book. The text messages were funny as always and the books as a whole has good humor while carrying it’s love obstacles.
I’m a huge Meghan Quinn fan, but for some reason this book slipped past me. I’m so glad I finally got to read it. Roark and Sutton’s story is so beautiful, a little tragic at times, but so well written, you will fall in love the bad boy. I enjoyed how Roark kept keeping Sutton at a distance, he wasn’t ready for her and I can respect that. And on the opposite of that, Sutton just kept pushing his buttons because she knew the real him underneath his bad boy persona. I loved their meet-cute, and the chapters after of him being difficult. Another great story from Meghan.
I freakin loved this book! I was hooked from the very first diary entry! I could not put it down! This book will have you laughing out loud and give you the feels at the same time! I loved watching Roark and Sutton’s relationship grow! You first meet Roark in How To Date Your Best Friend’s Sister. You don’t have to read that first to enjoy this book. Although I think you should read that one too!!
Enemy to Lovers, love these type of stories when the characters want one another yet drive eachother insane.
I really annoyed the banter between Roark and Sutton along with of course all the other characters such as Rath and Bram. They are hilarious nut cases that you can’t get enough of. You even get to see more on Rath/Bram’s Bromance. Love!
There are many demons that Roark is fighting but when you see the soft side of this sexy Irish Bad Boy? Oh your heart can’t stand it! It melts.
This had a lot of tension but wonderful overall. Enjoyed every bit of it and I recommend.
Can still be a stand alone but I’m enjoying these books, now onto Bossman Bridegroom!
Roark is a complete mess. Sutton is a very good girl. I have to admit that Roark was hard for me to like in the beginning. And Sutton made me crazy because she was entirely too nice to him. In the end, a bigger picture is presented and how they need each other becomes clear. I really like the man that Roark becomes through his love for Sutton, and I like how Sutton learns to stand up for what she needs and wants. In the end, the best love stories are when the couple makes each other their best possible version of themselves. This book has that. I especially enjoyed the format with the diary entries.
This book, you guys, this book! I have the hugest smile on my face because I seriously cannot get enough of these characters! Meghan Quinn is a writing expert that wins me over with her characters again and again.
Meghan Quinn has an impeccable writing style that just makes me feel so at home while reading. There is so much comfort. Her writing is clean, witty, and impactful. It seems like every single book that I read by Meghan Quinn just gets better than the last. I know that I am in for a treat when I sit down with one of her books.
These characters really did it for me. I was so enamored with them from start to finish. I loved how vibrant their personalities were. I always know that I am in for something special when it comes down to Meghan Quinn’s characters. I like how she isn’t afraid to surprise the reader where the characters in her books are concerned. Roark and Sutton were a delight, both together and individually. And I loved seeing Rath and Bram from her other books! The side characters really do add so much more to the story.
Roark and Sutton had very explosive chemistry. I can’t even tell you how much I loved their banter at the beginning of the story. Roark really liked to push Sutton’s buttons and she liked to push him right back. All that back and forth made for really great tension that just kept building. I couldn’t get enough of these two.
The plot of this story may have been done thousands of times but it wasn’t the least bit entertaining. I really like how Quinn took hold of the bad boy meets good girl trope and not only ran with it but made it her own. Everything in this story really works and it works well. The pacing is on point and the build-up is perfect. I was engrossed in this story from start to finish.
Overall, this story pretty much rocked my socks. I don’t have a single complaint about this story. I am so glad that I have found an author that just gets me. Meghan Quinn, you are a Romancelandia queen and I will follow you anywhere. Here’s to the next great story!
Oh how I love watching a confirmed bachelor bad boy fall from grace, and Roark McCool is definitely the quintessential bad boy. Drinking, smoking, getting into bar brawls and generally getting himself into trouble. After getting into a fight over ketchup (yes ketchup) in a hotdog restaurant, causing Sutton Green (an innocent bystander) to stumble, their cell phones are accidentally swapped. Herein lie some outrageously funny moments as Sutton tries to get her phone back off the obnoxiously annoying Irish thug with a quick temper, who does nothing to make Sutton think he’s anything less than a bit of a loser, ok yes, a lot of a loser. Some truly laugh out loud moments. A funny, yet seriously emotional, addictive read. I loved rough around the edges Roark (and of course his two best friends). Great writing, an addictive storyline and wonderful narration from John Hartley and Lauren Ezzo, both new narrators to me.
Sutton and Roark story was an amazing ride to read. The story is about a hot Irish handsome bad boy. Sutton the good girl. They meet in a fight, they accidentally switched phones and their story begins. This Romcom was an absolutely delightful audiobook to hear. The narration was phenomenal. John Hartley has an amazing voice, it really makes you live the book. The banter and chemistry between the characters had me laughing and squeezing my heart throughout the story. Meghan Quinn is an amazing author but this story has become one of my favorites. I love forbidden romances, kind of a bit of enemies to lovers so it was perfect for me.
