Caitlyn Clayborne: ambitious Chicago realtor, reluctant Music Hall inheritor, and… small town investigator? The tiny, honky-tonk town of Fox Hill was never big enough for Caitlyn Clayborne. One day, she packed up her life, leaving Fox Hill, TN—and everyone in it—in the dust. Since then she’s kept her eyes focused on her future, barely glancing in the mirror of her past. When her grandparents … past.
When her grandparents retire and move onto a year-round cruise ship they come up with the clever idea to leave their once illustrious Music Hall to Caitlyn. With one tricky stipulation: she can do whatever she wants with it, but she has to sign all the paperwork on-site…in dusty, derelict ol’ Fox Hill.
It’s supposed to be a quick in-and-out: sell the Music Hall and get back to the big city. But a mystery is afoot and the Music Hall is in unsellable shambles!
The Beaumont Cornmeal Company is buying up everyone’s property, leaving her old hometown on its last legs. If a little sleuthing isn’t done, Fox Hill may well fade away, along with all of Caitlyn’s childhood memories. But her investigation requires the help of the very people she left behind, including her childhood bestfriend, Reba, and Reba’s curiously grumpy brother, Kurt.
Unfortunately, it seems she needs Kurt Hunter’s help the most; though he’s the person least inclined to give it…
From a sassy, geriatric box office attendant to a flamboyant dance instructor to an animal-loving, trigger-happy rancher, Caitlyn must navigate Fox Hill’s quirky inhabitants to gather clues and get to the bottom of the Beaumont mystery before time runs out—for her and for Fox Hill.

This is a clean romance read with a side of mystery. Caitlyn returns to Fox Hill, after her grandparents retire and leave her the Music Hall. She can’t believe all the businesses that are boarded up, when she returns. She can’t get any answers from her lawyer, Gil, so she decides to do some investigating. No spoilers, so grab your copy and get ready for a small town read with some wonderful characters. I enjoyed the twist that’s included, that I didn’t see coming.
I rounded my 3.5 star review up to 4 stars, but this book still needs some more editing.
Caitlyn Clayborne returns to Fox Hill, Tennessee to sell an old theater that her grandparents left her to pay for an MBA degree. But she discovers that someone is buying up the business and farms around town and she is tasked with uncovering why by her old dance instructor in return for funds to help fix up the theater. She reconnects with her friend Reba and Reba’s brother Kurt. Kurt had a crush on Caitlyn in high school and he was hurt when she left for college without saying goodbye. They work together to fix up Music Hall and solve the mystery. This was a nice romantic mystery with quirky small town characters and plenty of funny moments.
Cozy Tennessee Mystery
This book is a sweet, second chance romance and a cozy mystery. The plot line is wonderful and definitely not run-of -the-mill! I can’t explain much without spoilers, so I won’t. This story takes place in a small, dying town in rural Tennessee. One fun point in the story is the twenty-something who has inherited the old dance hall. I purchased this book and highly recommend it as both a cozy mystery and a sweet romance.
