A pretend relationship…within a pretend relationship.Attorney Evan Stone knows every crazy stipulation in billionaire Rudy Carmichael’s will. After all, he wrote it. And he’s determined to make sure each one is fully met by Rudy’s triplet daughters. Even if that means dating the workaholic CEO, Ava. Or pretending to at least. And even if it means resisting the so-right-for-him-she’s-totally-wrong … so-right-for-him-she’s-totally-wrong party girl, Cori.
Cori’s only got three things on her to do list from her dad:
- Move to Bliss, Kansas.
- Run his pie shop with her sisters for a year.
- No dating. For six months.
But stepping in for her sister when it’s clear that Ava and Evan aren’t fooling anyone with their “romance” isn’t really dating. And falling for her sister’s pretend boyfriend while pretending to be her sister…well, that’s ridiculous. No matter how real things feel whenever she and Evan are together.

I loved this sexy small-town series starter! Fun family dynamic, quirky, down-home setting…and the heroes? Smokin’ hot! You’ll want to read them all.
I liked the three sisters. I liked the three best friends. Evan and Cori were a great match. I liked the concept of the pie shop and the quirkiness of Bliss. I was glad that the sisters were really nice people, and not some stuck up rich girls.
I didn’t like having to hear the terms of the will over and over and over again. I didn’t like that we had to keep hearing about what a screw up Cori thought she was, how irresponsible, a commitment phobe etc. The same goes for Evan. I also thought there was entirely too much inner dialogue. One of the best parts in the book was in the pie shop when Cori met Jill’s mother. Awesome!
This was kind of a sweet romance. There were one or two slightly sexy moments, but kind of only remember one. I even enjoyed Evan and Cori discovering new things about themselves, and one another.
I listened to the Audiobook. The narration was ok, but didn’t really stand out.
Read this book as part of an anthology and I definitely want to know what happens to the other sisters!!
Being a Midwestern girl, I’ve driven through and stopped in Kansas at least a handful of times. I’ve visited small Midwestern towns very much like Bliss, Kansas in Erin Nicholas’ new romance trilogy, but I’ve never met a guy like Evan Stone in any of those small towns.
Ms. Nicholas introduces Bliss, Kansas, the Carmichael triplets, and attorney Evan Stone in Diamonds and Dirt Roads, the first book in her Billionaires in Blue Jeans series. And hang on….before you think eh, another billionaire romance series (I admit it, the thought crossed my mind!) this one is different! For one thing, the billionaires are the girls, and they are absolutely loveable.
And so is Evan Stone. Evan met the triplets’ father in Kansas…after he gave up his billionaire lifestyle and left New York City. The Rudy Carmichael that Evan knew was a different man than the father the girls had always known. Evan set up Rudy’s will for him, and that will has some interesting stipulations that the triplets must meet. The stipulations seem a little crazy at first, but Rudy’s motivation becomes clear the more you read. Simply stated, he wanted more for his girls: more fun, more happiness, more life.
Book one, Diamonds and Dirt Roads, is a super fun, sweet, and steamy hot romance that features the fun-loving, adventurous triplet, Cori. I loved her from page one; I was hooked into this series—lock, stock, and barrel—on page one of this book, and Evan? Holy hot guy in tennis shoes, LOVED him!
Ms. Nicholas does a fantastic job of creating a small town that feels like home and characters—billionaires and small town folks—that you wish you could grab a cup of coffee and slice of pie with and spend the morning hanging out. —Tracy Broemmer, author of contemporary romance Something Like Love
“Diamonds and Dirt Roads: Billionaires in Blue Jeans” by Erin Nicholas is such a great read. I really enjoyed the characters and the fact that the gals are the billionaires instead of the guys!!!

Billionaires in Blue Jeans is a new sexy contemporary romance series about the three beautiful triplet daughters of Rudy Carmichael. Rudy has passed away but his will has some crazy stipulations that the girls must to follow in order to receive their inheritance. Diamonds and Dirt Roads is book 1.
Evan Stone, the attorney for Rudy’s will is determined that the daughters will follow it to the letter…even if he has to date Ava the workaholic CEO sister except he is attracted to Cori the party girl sister who’s stipulations are she can not date for 6 months…Cori pretending to be Ava in order to date Evan but still follow the stipulations…but what happens when it all come undone??
What a funny, crazy, mixed up mess but love always seems to find its way…
A new series by Erin Nicholas! I couldn’t have been more excited! This new series has to do with triplet sisters. That’s cool by itself, but then when you take these sisters and take them out of their high society lifestyle and move them to a little town in Kansas where they have to run a pie shop (and follow all sorts of strange rules) to get their inheritance, you have a gut splitting good time.
Their now dead father has required that the flirty one doesn’t date, the lab sister HAS to date and the CEO type sister has to learn how to bake the pies all by herself. He has thrown small town lawyer, Evan, right in the middle of the whole mess. He decides to date Ava to help her have a good time, but his off the meter attraction to Cori (who always smooths the way for everyone) keeps getting in the way. And…clothes keep falling off!
Can they pull this off and get the girls their inheritance? When diamonds meet dirt roads, there’s just no telling what will happen! This is a great sexy and sweet combination of a story. I highly recommend!
I absolutely LOVED this Erin Nicholas read!!! From the one of a kind opening the book starts out with to the very last sentence, this book had me falling in love with her writing all over again. Cori has to be one of my favorite heroines Erin has created. She’s fun, outgoing, and just wants to bring a little bit of happiness to both of her sisters chaotic lives. Evan is perfect for her, even when he’s technically not supposed to be. This book had me laughing in some parts, and tearing up in others. A fantastic start to this new series that I would definitely recommend!
Life has a way of throwing curve balls. Ava, Brynn and Cori have just landed in the middle of one. Death has a way of being the ultimate wake up call. For billionaire Rudy, his call came a tad too late. Or did it? Diamonds and Dirt Roads begins a father’s love letter to his beautiful little girls who have become fierce and lost young women. With the help of a to do list, a father guides the girls he never took the time to know, become the women they are meant to be. In book one Cori gets her time to shine. Misunderstood and brushed aside Cori is about to show the world she’s more than just the party girl, she’s thought to be. Erin Nicholas can always be counted on to pour on the charm with hypnotizing stories of heartache, humor and healing. You can never stop at just one.
“Diamonds and Dirt Roads” is the first book in the ‘Billionaires in Blue Jeans’ series by Erin Nicholas. It’s a small town story centered around triplet sisters forced by the terms of their late father’s will to relocate from New York City to a tiny Kansas town, and take up roles in the small pie shop he was running there at the time of his death. If they don’t cooperate with his unusual will, they’ll forfeit billions of dollars they would otherwise inherit from the company he spent most of his life building.
Cori is the sister who’s always ready to have a good time, but who never manages to stick with anything. She loves her life, adores her sisters, and wishes she’d had a closer relationship with their father. In his will, their father tasked her with running the business side of the pie shop and forced her to leave the actual baking, and all customer relations, to her sisters. She’s also forbidden from dating for 6 months. Evan is a lawyer who was a good friend to Cori’s father, Rudy, who ended up in the tiny Kansas town because of car trouble and never left. The townspeople thought Rudy was just a simple guy; They had no idea he was a billionaire businessman. Evan had helped him draw up his unusual will and was left with the responsibility of explaining the complicated terms to Rudy’s daughters. For all that he’d wondered about the daughters who’d never come and visited Rudy, Evan wasn’t prepared for the immediate attraction he felt toward just one of them – the one who’s not allowed to date for 6 months.
The plot seems a little complicated but it’s well-written and flows smoothly. The 3 sisters each have distinctly different personalities, but the connection between them comes across as genuine and loving. There are plenty of great secondary characters who give life to the small town. I thought the ending was clever and exuberant, and it definitely left me smiling.
I’ve been seeing Erin Nicholas’s books all over the place. In fact, we’ve featured several on Romancing the Book. But I just haven’t had a chance to read one. So, when I saw the request for this first book in a new series, I jumped at the chance to try her books. And I wasn’t disappointed.
The series revolves around triplets who have moved to small-town Bliss in order to earn their inheritance from their estranged, now deceased father. The girls are opposites and their father’s will has them working together on a project, but they’re placed in roles that aren’t familiar to them.
This is Cori’s story. She’s the wild child. She doesn’t really commit to anything, flitting from job to job , relationship to relationship. Her role in the to-do list from her father is to be the accountant for the pie shop she’s running with her sisters, as well as to not date for 6 months. But she’s totally attracted to their father’s lawyer, Evan. And to make things worse, Evan is pretending to date Cori’s sister.
Then we have Evan. He’s not your traditional lawyer. He’s a small town guy, life of the party and now in charge of making sure the girls stick to the terms of the will. He’s attracted to Cori, but makes a deal with Ava (Cori’s sister) to be her pretend boyfriend to get his family off his back as well as help out the sisters.
So I really liked the premise of the series. Big city girls move to small town to run a pie shop, don’t have a clue what they’re doing… all to get their inheritance. I even liked all the characters introduced, the small town, so on. I think the hardest part of me to grasp was the whole pretend relationship, Cori pretending to be Ava and how it wasn’t breaking any of the will terms. I’ll admit that a few times I was a little confused, and a couple times I got tired of the internal dialog as Cori was beating herself up over the attraction and the “it can’t be”. And then it just seemed to be all cleared up in a nice bow.
All that said, I really did enjoy the story and I’m curious as to what’s going to happen next. It was an enjoyable read and once I got going, my interest was caught and I kept on turning the pages.
My review originally posted at Romancing the Book.
I absolutely adored Diamonds and Dirt Roads! The Carmichael sisters grabbed my heart, and the little town of Bliss was the sprinkles on top. I can’t wait to read book two in this series to see what happens next!
You know when something is so good, you aren’t sure exactly how to say how good it is? That your yardstick for measuring good has to be revised to allow for a higher, better, greater standard? That you just want more of the same? That you just need a moment or twenty to reflect on your mind being blown and your heart being full?
That’s what I’ve come to realize is the deal with Erin Nicholas’s books, and Diamonds and Dirt Roads, the first in her Billionaires in Blue Jeans series, is no exception.
The series is about triplets whose father has died unexpectedly, leaving them some eccentric requirements in order for them to inherit. Diamonds and Dirt Roads introduces all of them, but this is Cori’s story. She’s always been the fun-loving sister, who is the life of the party but hasn’t shown that she knows how to stick around for anyone, except maybe her sisters. The lawyer tasked with executing their father’s will, Evan Stone, is in some ways cut from the same cloth. Few have accused him of having too many long relationships. But the two of them are surprised by some intense chemistry, which because of the stipulations of the will, they do their best to deny. At least for a time 😉
Ms Nicholas does such a beautiful job with these characters. Cori and Evan feel so real, and it’s such a pleasure to be privy to their feelings and growing friendship and relationship. Cori’s sisters and Evan’s friends and the town of Bliss make for a captivating rest of the cast, and each page is both a pleasure to enjoy and a twinge as I know there is an end ahead.
Cori and Evan find that love changes them, in the best of ways, and also perhaps reveals themselves more fully to themselves and those around them. I love how Ms Nicholas reminds us of the power and promise of love in Diamonds and Dirt Roads.
Having finished this terrific book, I will definitely be rereading! And the next book cannot come too soon!
I don’t do a lot of Billionaire stories, but I did so love this entire series from the small town pie shop to the quirky characters to the very steamy scenes! I highly recommend these stories!
Light, fun reading. Yet, entertaining enough to want to read more about the triplets in Kansas…..
I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read high heels and haystacks.
I’m reading it right now and I can’t wait to finish it. I think everybody wonders what it would be like to have another person so close to you that they understand everything you feel. With triplets or twins, that might be the case and this story ventures there in a light handed way. I think it’s fairly common that twins have exchanged with each other to fool other people just to have fun and what happens then?
Cori is one of three triplet sisters. Cori is the wild, never settles in one place, girl. Her father was a billionaire and in order for her and her sisters to inherit, they have to follow his rules. Cori has to live with her sisters in Bliss, make a profit at the pie shop, and not date. Evan is the attorney who drew up Rudy’s will and went to New York to explain everything to them. He has to make sure they follow the will or he and his buddies get everything and they do not want it. Evan is also the good time guy. But when the town finds out about him and a girl he grew up with, he comes up with a plan to get them out of the mess. He’s going to date Cori’s sister Ava but he has no connection with her like he does with Cori. Can they keep their hands to themselves for a year?
Great story. Funny, sexy, and has lots of pies. A fake relationship and the beginnings of a real one.
Love Erin’s writing style and lovable characters!
Terrific
Smith well written story about finding love & happiness. The triplets have lost their dad but he has put stipulations on his will. It’s to get his girls out of their comfort zone and a way for him to reconnect with them since he was gone.
