All Hail Her Royal Majesty… finds herself more isolated than ever… despite the whole country watching her every move.
She’d like nothing more than to run away — from the prying eyes of the public, from the political schemes unfolding all around her, and, perhaps most of all, from the painful memories of Carter Thorne, the man who stole her heart without asking for permission.
But running isn’t an option; not when there’s an empire to rule.
So, Emilia does the only thing she can: puts on her crown, slaps on a smile, and acts like the steady sovereign her shaken subjects need her to be.
Non sibi sed patriae.
Not for self, but country.
After everything that’s happened to her in the past few months, Emilia assumes she’s made it through the worst.
She’s wrong.
The danger is closer than ever. Unforeseen enemies are lurking just out of sight, determined to put an end to the Lancaster line, once and for all…
Their final target?
Germania’s fiery new queen.
SORDID EMPIRE is the final installment of the breathtaking royal romance romance saga THE FORBIDDEN ROYALS TRILOGY. Pulse-pounding suspense, deadly political schemes, and scorching sexual tension make this final installment utterly un-put-downable!

“You are a queen.
Stop acting like a pawn.”
Honestly, i really don’t know how i’m feeling about this book…
I was waiting like crazy the final instalment of “The Forbidden Royals” trilogy and the author took her sweet time to deliver…
And not only that but i think that there were some holes that didn’t fill out at all!!!
And the romance??? Well, it had taken a back seat and i can say that i missed Carter very much and I didn’t like it a bit!!!
All rise for Her Royal Majesty Emilia Victoria Lancaster, Queen of Germania…
Well, Emilia is all alone since she threw away from the palace all the people that were surrounding her, including Chloe and her beloved Carter…
And now, she is depressed and heartbroken… Oh, and the queen!!!
She has a whole kingdom upon her shoulders and she is a little bit lost…
Lost without love, family, someone to guide her…
And then Carter and Chloe are tumbling back in her life and nothing much are changing except the fact, that she still isn’t willing to fight for her love of her life and that she is focused on the political scheme…
“No one knows how to help me.
I’m not sure anyone can help me.
I sent away the only person who ever stood a chance.”
“Smile, wave, nod.
Show no weakness.
Be the queen your subjects need.”
Well, to be totally honest with you, i can understand the need for Emilia to prove herself and to become a worthy queen… And to fight against all the evil that was surrounding her, but the political part was too big in here and in some point, i got tired…
And the romance part??? It was non existent!!!
And seriously i couldn’t understand why these two had to be away from each other and to break their hearts over and over again…
“You don’t get to decide who loves you, Emilia. And you definitely don’t get to push away the people who do, just because you’re scared to lose them.”
“It doesn’t matter if I love him… I can’t be with him.”
The truth is that the counted interactions on one hand of Emilia and Carter were heartbreakingly beautiful!!! I shed many tears when i was seeing them struggle to stay away from each other, but damn it!!! I needed more of them…
More of Carter’s point of view, as i don’t stop repeating since the first book…
And I think that Carter and we, the readers, deserve to have a book from his side of the story…
Since those two were so long apart that i would love to see what he was doing and how he was managing the things… And how he end up in this situation at the end…
“Can’t you see that all we do is break each other? Can’t you see that this is going to destroy us both? If we keep doing this… I’m not going to survive. And neither are you. It hurts too much. And it’s only getting harder.”
“If I could give it back, I would… Your heart. But it seems I’ve exchanged it for my own. Along with my soul.”
Also, i have to say that Julie almost gave me a stroke at the end of the story…
God, i was almost at the edge losing my darn mind!!!
But there were so many unfinished business in here..
I think that ending was rushed… I need a better conclusion and more answers to why some things happened like that!!!
After so much struggling, how these two got their HEA so easily, ugh???
Owen were did he vanished???
Pfff…. And somewhere here, i’m stopping!!!
Thanks for listening and sorry if i confused you!!! I’m still frustrated myself!!!
“The deepest scars of our hearts are traces of the people who left them behind. The stronger the love, the crueler the mark it carves out inside you.”
