Firefighter Donovan Miller finally got everything he wanted when he married Valerie, the love of his life. Now, everything is falling into place and starting the family they’d planned on seems like it’s next on the horizon. But when tragedy strikes and their plans are derailed, Donovan finds out it takes a lot more than love to keep a marriage together. It takes devotion.
So much heartbreak and confusion in this book that you feel every emotion written. This is another really good addition to the Golden Beach series and leaves you begging for more.
This novella is part of the Golden Beach Series. This story follows Valerie and Donovan after their happy ending in Renovation (book 2). The story is so sweet, heartbreaking, and beautiful! Both are great characters. The storyline is filled with angst, misunderstandings, and lack of communication. I love how they fought for their hopeful, happy ending. Kylie Stewart and Jared Oliver did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
Devotion (A Golden Beach Novella)
By: Kim Loraine-Author
Narrated by: Kylie Stewart, Jared Oliver
I always wonder what happens after the happily ever after, and Kim Loraine has given us a peek into the lives of Donovan and Valerie. We left Donovan and Valerie after their marriage and assume life goes into that happy mode. Get the hot fire fighter, marry him, have a big family and be happy. But with these two, life is not that easy! A life changing event puts them at odds, hurt and trust at the forefront. Will their insecurities be the end of their relationship? I love Kim Loraine’s style of writing. Her characters are so real and as I have listened to this series, the Golden Beach characters have become my family. I am fully invested in the outcome of these two and was glued to the story. With cameos of our favorites(Michael and Sully in particular) it’s a angsty, passionate story and one I truly enjoyed.
The team of Kylie Stewart and Jared Oliver did a remarkable job portraying Valerie and Donovan. I loved Stewart’s ability to tap into the emotions of Valerie. I could feel her pain and emotional turmoil. Oliver is a new narrator to me, and I found his soothing voice perfect for Donovan. His voice held the insecurities Donovan faced and made his seem so real. It is a great listen!

Donovan and Valerie’s sweet love story will take you on an emotional ride. Devotion is the continuation of Renovation where Donovan and Valerie got their HEA. In Devotion we get to live the ups and downs of their marriage. These two go through so much drama, pain, tragedy and heartache, but also love. This is one of my favorite authors her books take you through so many emotions and make the reader feel all the feels. Another 5-star read by Kim Loraine.
Wow! This short story sure hits hard! It’s filled with emotion and will clutch at your heart. It’s written with passion and heart and touches on a reality for many, and is done beautifully.
Donovan and Valerie are going through a tough time and Kim Loraine makes you feel everything they are feeling. It’s real life and true struggles and it’s raw, painful, heartbreaking, sorrowful, sweet, honest, and loving. There were times my heart ached and my stomach twisted in knots, and times I smiled and my heart burst with love.
Donovan and Valerie have such a special connection and you can feel how much love they have for each other. What a truly beautiful story!
Great mix of Hot and Emotional
Mind consuming emotional novella. For a short read, it really packed some punch to the heartstrings. I felt every emotion Valerie and Donovan went through, and it gutted me at times. I loved how these characters were written and how perfect they were together.
I loved reading Devotion because even when you get your happily ever after, you have to work hard to keep it. Sometimes life happens and the road gets rocky. I swooned and bawled my eyes out and just wanted to hug these characters through the book.
Devotion is definitely not one you want to miss on. I only regret not reading this series before. Kim is quickly becoming one of my automatic 1click authors with all her amazing work in any genre.
Love, love, loved this story. Valerie and Donovan have already jumped over hurdles in previous stories to get to the point of their marriage to start talking about a family. But when tragedy strikes, every insecurity they have dealt with comes back to the forefront and their HEA is in jeopardy. Can they work through their problems or will this be the end of their marriage? With emotional turmoil on every page, this might be a novella but it has the strength of a full scale novel. Another fabulous installment of a beautifully crafted series.
