This is the first in a series that I know will be addicted to.
I really enjoyed the first book in Alexa Aston’s new series – I just couldn’t quit reading until “The End” & cannot wait to start reading Book 2.
The amazing circumstances that took place in this couple’s life made me root for them from the beginning. Jeremy St. Clair, Marquess of Sather met Lady Catherine Crawford were introduced at a ball & by the end of the evening they both were entranced by the other. Then the unthinkable happened – a bad carriage accident with deaths & also, a father dies & a son suddenly becomes a Duke. So many misunderstandings, circumstances etc. resulted in them not hearing from each other for 5 years but they never forgot the magical evening they shared. I won’t go in to detail but the journey that split them & the journey to reunite them is full of twists & turns that makes for a wonderful book full of endearing characters. I highly recommend this book & encourage you to read it – I think you’ll be happy you did!
I love Regency Romance. It’s a favorite sub-genre and I’ve probably written hundreds of reviews (literally: I review a lot) on Regency tales I’ve enjoyed. Yes somehow I totally missed Alexa Aston. Pretty surprising considering just how many books she’s written in in this sub-genre. In fact, I only discovered her because of her first non-Regency series, Hollywood Name Game (highly recommended, by the way). Well, I loved that so of course had to try her Regency tales. Jeremy snd Catherine story in Devoted to the Duke (The St. Clairs Book 1) was the first such book, and all I can say is that it is just perfect. Period appropriate (a requirement for me to really enjoy a Regency) with wonderfully crafted characters and a truly enjoyable and interesting plot. This book has it all. Totally fun to read, I am more than happy to highly recommend it.

Jeremy St Clair met a beautiful woman and they were very attracted to each other. Unforeseen circumstances separate them for years until they are reunited. This is a good story with interesting characters. There are five St Clair books and all are well written.
I really enjoyed this story.
Enjoyed it very much
I loved this story. A young woman who loves her family and a man who loves her for years. I like her strength and intelligence and especially in the time the story takes place, caring for a family member needing so much care is consuming. Thanks for giving her family-like servants.
Wonderful Read
After my initial introduction to this author through her de Wolfes of Esterley Castle series, I was anxious to move on to the St. Clairs books. A wonderful story with twists and turns, heartaches and triumphs, and a host of interesting and believable characters. This one was a roller coaster of emotions, and very entertaining from the beginning to the end. Loved Jeremy and Catherine, and all the amazing St. Clair family. Can’t wait to read more!
Returning home after a year away Jeremy St. Clair sees Lady Catherine Crawford at a ball. He is immediately drawn to her and can’t stop thinking about her. Jeremy calls in a favor just to dance with her. Catherine is quite taken with Jeremy and after a dance with him is looking forward to him calling the next day. Neither can stop thinking of each other when fate steps in. Both suffering tragedy on that fateful night sends their lives in different directions never forgetting each other. What a wonderful story this is. I could not put this one down. I loved both Jeremy and Catherine and was rooting for them throughout everything. Alexa Aston is one of my favorite authors and I loved this book. Yes, I definitely recommend this one!
This book is full of dark secrets, finding love and losing it, and the desire to protect the Duke that Lady Cathrine Crawford loves beyond all others. Jeremy St. Clair returns home from his Grand Tour and discovers a beautiful lady that seems to lift the weight of the world from his shoulders. But before he can proceed with his desires, his father dies, making him the next Duke. Unknown to either of them, fate steps in with disaster that changes the course of both lives. The Duke must marry for money, and a tragic accident shreds Lady Catharine’s perfect life. This is a dramatic story that affects both too the very bottom of their souls and keeps you turning the page to find out what happens next.
It was so exciting to see that Alexa Aston was writing a Regency series! Her wonderful Knights of Honor series has kept me mesmerized for many books and I knew this would be just as amazing too! Oh yes, it definitely was with this first story set that brings a hero, Jeremy St. Claire, who was so upstanding and had so much character! Determined not be like the embarrassing wastrel his father was all these years, even though his father encouraged him to enjoy himself..
Lady Catherine was having her first season and just could not get excited about any of the men. She wanted to find a love match like her mother and father and not settle for less.
“Then her eyes fell upon someone she didn’t know and her breath caught in her throat. This man hadn’t attended any even this Season. Who was this handsome stranger – and how could she persuade him to dance with her?” But she did not have to worry because when Jeremy spotted her, he had his friend introduce him so he could ask for a dance.
Thus it began as the two were drawn together. Love at first sight? So it seemed. Did he kiss her? Oh yes and it seems they were meant for each other! Unfortunately everything changed that same night and lifre would never be the same for Lady Catherine for awhile. She had to retreat to her parents country estate and would not surface or see Jeremy for years.
But as fate would have it, and it often does, they meet years later after they both had endured so much. That spark was still there and it seemed neither had forgotten the other. Was there a chance now at happiness?
Alexa Aston has written an amazing story with her wonderful characters that pulled at my heart. So much emotion as the scenes unfolded and I had to hold my breath to see what would happen! I cannot wait for the next book in this series and know I will not have to wait long!!
Catherine knew she was loved by her parents. At the ball whenever dreamed a man could as charming as Lord Sather. That night will change her life for 5 years. Before deciding to go back to London her cousin gave her a secret her parents kept. Will she survive or will it crumple to pieces.
I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
I am screaming OMG in my head right now. This book was AWESOME!! Readers let me begin with this. Devoted to the Duke, by Alexa Aston, is a romantic drama placed up there with all the other historical romance books that you love and can’t get enough of. The drama, the passion, the romance, the love, the blackmail and betrayal drew me so far into this book that I couldn’t look away.
This book had everything but the kitchen sink people. I couldn’t put the book down. The writing seemed to reach out to me as I read each paragraph and entrance me in this wonderfully written drama. Alexa, developed a way where she was able to reach out, grab you and pull you into Jeremy and Catherine’s world. The emotions within the book are so strong.
It’s as though Alexa had to go somewhere deep inside her to pull it out and spill it into this book.
The bond between the characters was strong. Clearly Alexa wanted the reader to know that this is about family. The sacrifices and the love that the have for each other, not just about the romance of Jeremy and Catherine. They are just one part of it. The flow of the book was smooth, easy to follow. There was no confusing words that would bore me with the book. Alexa, was able to hold my anticipation for what’s to happen next from beginning to end. May I say this? if I had a cousin like that, I wouldn’t need a husband to fight my battles. It would have been on at the top of that balcony, wedding gown or no wedding gown. Someone would be tumbling down the stairs.
I give this book a double twist and a double snap. Yes, my fellow readers, read the book.
I highly recommend it. Until next time my fellow readers- read on.
It was hard to follow at times due to the broken up nature of how it translated to my tablet. It was an average read, nice characters.
liked the characters well enough to read the rest of the books about the family St. Clair.
