Wow. Kelli’s books just keep getting better and better. This book is quite dark compared to other of her books but the suspense and tension, certainly kept me compelled to read on. The characters were tragic and the overriding mutual attraction was related so well. A great book!
This was an ARC copy and this is my honest review.
OMG this is a great book. I didn’t know what to expect next from Damien’s father. Who knew a father could be that evil. Leigh was a great woman for Damien. They complemented each other and helped to keep each other calm. So much suspense, drama, love, sadness, happiness, trust and bonding. I didn’t want to close the story cause I wanted to see what happened next.
I like this series because it always amazed me how well this story mashed with the other stories in the series. It is also very realistic because anyone going through hell always think they are doing it alone, not realizing that the person next to them could be facing impossible situations too.

Wow! The suspense and the not being able to know what was going to happen had me on the edge. Love Leigh and Damien and how even with their own issues, they recognized their connection and went for it. I love the secondary characters and their connection to the previous stories in the series. The way Kelli writes the story sucks you in and makes you feel everything for the characters. I was angry, upset, happy, and everything in between. I also noticed some subtle references to make future stories and can’t wait to see what comes next.
Leigh is keeping things from her airhead, gold-digging mom. She is going to college on line and working towards her future. She meets Damien at the hotel bar where she works at the front desk and hit it off immediately. So when they found out each others family surprise, all hell breaks loose. Although, they had gone through hell, they found their HEA and peace with the family. I loved their passion, sexy scenes and the outcome of grandpa and Jenny.
This was a really good story. A little bit on the twisted side, but I like them like that. Finley is a 17 soon to be 18 year old who is living in very unstable conditions. She makes a friend via a dating app and she finally has someone to talk to. Greyson is one hot , hunky, muscled man who had wrongly served 8 years behind bars. He also was lonely and just looking for a friend. Finley had lied about her age on the app stating she was 26. This book has a very wide range of emotions tugging at your heart. The angst and violence that Finley goes through is enough to make anyone get mad on her behalf. Then Grayson discovers he has a son. One who is sick. He’s 8 years old. The math speaks for itself. This is where the story sucked me in hook, line and sinker. If you like a story with lots of steamy action, twists and turns, and above all lots of heart and love. This ragtag bunch will be for you to read.

This story just captivate me. It has intense drama, suspense, hot romance , unforgettable moments, and passion hotter than a fire in July.
Damien and Leigh’s chemistry is off the chart, but their relationship must go through the twist and turns before they find their love.
This series is one that grab you till the end.

Talk about drama. Damien and Leigh has it all around them. They meet at a bar and make a connection. He is trying to get over the loss of his fiancé and seeing Leigh and being captivated not only by the beauty of her but the person herself stirs his heart. Everything is going well until their parents get involved especially when a marriage is involved turning everything inside out. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
This is the third book in Kelli Callahan’s Carson Cove Sandals series. The story is about Damien Sinn, who is still grieving several years later from the death of his fiancé but is immediately attracted to Leigh, a hotel employee who is completing an online college degree. They are instantly drawn to one another, but Damien’s father and Leigh’s mother unexpectantly marry. After their marriage, turmoil and buried secrets begin to surface. I recommend this enjoyable book with its interesting characters, intriguing plot, drama, and steamy attraction and love.

Conceptually Wonderful & Suspense Filled but Inconsistent… I am honestly unsure how to feel about this book. After the disappointing tameness of Kelli Callahan’s last Carson Cove series story, I was skeptical of this one. And despite, “Devious Intentions” being a joyous return to the suspenseful 007 tinged, Dynasty flavored intrigue that caused me to originally fall in love with the series. Callahan takes thirteen choppy and wandering chapters to get there.
Additionally, although this third installment does a much better job creating a vibrant, spine tingling suspenseful story arc than the last book. Painting a gut wrenching tale of what happens when a villainous father has the blood thirsty drive and Machiavellian mindset to destroy his own family in order to get what he wants. Coupled with the sweetest love story to date within Carson Cove. One that keeps you equally on the edge of your seat as we watch Damien struggle with healing from his past, the unintended bravery adopted by Leigh to protect Damien, and her intention to protect this new love and take down said evil. Opposing elements, that when combined, create a unique love story containing enough “who done it” titillation to keep you glued to the page.
Yet, it is also a story where Callahan, once again, takes a step back and greatly drops the literary ball fleshing out the two protagonists, Damien and Leigh. Here she gives us Damien, the thirty year old business mogul and grandson to the Sinn Technologies Founder we were briefly introduced to in book two, “Secret Indiscretions”. And Leigh, a twenty-one year old college student, taking her courses online in order to hide her goals from her gold digging mother. A mother who holds a dismal opinion that her daughter’s only purpose in life is to find a rich husband.
Damien’s backstory and character development is heartbreaking and poignant. However, Leigh’s development is lifeless and only vaguely formulated beyond the barest outline of her mother’s expectations. Gone are the rich backstory details afforded to Callahan’s other female leads in Carson Cove like the spunky, art loving Taylor from book one, or the driven, fierce single mother, Melanie from book two. It’s a frustrating flip from book two, where we saw a more complex development of characters.
It’s as though Callahan is unable to hit a literary groove within the Carson Cove landscape. Book one, great story, limited character development. Book two, improved character development, choppy, stunted story arc. And now book three, with its stunted, choppy everything. With attempted hints of frame-working, landscape, and character improvement throughout, but inconsistently so.
It’s a back and forth that gives you literary whiplash!
These development issues back and forth are frustrating beyond belief because I genuinely like the characters and the overall plot framework of the series. But the writing is far too inconsistent, the books feel rushed and incomplete, are often riddled with typos, version melding and editing errors, and sadly this installment is no exception. Something that honestly really bugs me because of how great the concept is overall, as well as, the fact that we’re now three books in.
If the frame-working, character development, and editing consistency issues overall were repaired, this book (and series) would go from being a great concept but just an ok read, to a great concept and an invigorating, nail biting, must read! But after three books of the same, I’m not encouraged such improvements and corrections will be made.
The scandals in Carson Cove just do not end….what do you expect with a small town that probably has the highest population of the wealthiest people living there…and as we have seen they have pleeeenty of skeletons in their closets that just do not want to be locked away.
This is book 3 in The Carson Cove series even though characters reappear from the previous books it can be read as a standalone.
Damian has been grieving the loss of his love for 5 years and now it seems that he might get a second chance at love with the beautiful and blushing Leigh.
But as we have learned nothing is easy in Carson Cove and Damian and Leigh have a battle on their hands that would have them uncovering a secret that will have Carson Cove rocking in shock before the two find their HEA

A new beginning for Damian and the truth is revealed!
by sewsummore
This book started out slow but soon the action starts to heat up when Damian meets a young woman drinking a glass of red wine at the bar. He recognises her as the new employee at the hotel he visits and soon they are chatting. It surprised him to find he was enjoying her company, since his fiancee death in an accident he had been too depressed and unhappy to spend time with any woman. Leigh was a student at the local college, she worked full time but studied online. This meant she had very little time me for men and romance but the connection between them was too strong to resist. Once they became an item the story heats up and I found myself eager to read each page as the drama and mystery surrounding Damian and his family unfolds. A father who is manipulative and cruel, a man who has no love for his own son and daughter is at the centre of this mystery that kept me guessing until the final chapter when the truth behind the lies is revealed.

Leigh is in college and working her way through to be independent despite her mother trying to get her to meet a rich man to take care of her. She meets Damien at the hotel where she works. Damien is dealing with the death of his fiancee from years ago. He never thought he’d meet another woman to love. This is a steamy read with all the feels.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Leigh was putting herself through college and not thinking about relationships. Damien lost his fiancee two years ago and goes to the same hotel bar they went as a couple. When Damien and Leigh noticed each other, instant attraction, they start dating the chemistry between them was hot and steamy, mind boggling twist and turns.
