What do you do when the one you least expect to matter… point.
However, what you see isn’t always what you get, and only a select few have ever glimpsed the real man under the brash exterior.
Among them? Professor Jordan Devaney. Complicated, high-maintenance, and vibrant, he’s Derek’s opposite in every way. From the moment they saw each other, a love-hate relationship began.
But what happens when one person wants more?

Okay, I had to think about this book and what I wanted to say because this is the first Ella Frank book that I have read that kind of broke my heart. I love Ella Frank; she is one of my favorite authors at this point and I have read close to 20 of her books so I know her style. This book felt like it was a different game all together. Derek and Jordan were on a level all their own and at times I wanted to slap both and then at others I wanted to hug them both.
“I love you. For always answering when I call, and for being the exact person I need at any given time. You found me. You made me better.”
When I read Finley book one in the Sunset Cove duo I knew that Derek and Jordan had their own story and something that we never fully grasped. What I didn’t expect was their story to be so intense. They were constantly at this push and pull where they never could get their timing right and that hurt my heart. While they were quite different characters Frank made it abundantly clear that their feelings for one another were real even if they couldn’t see it.
This is one of those books where parts of it will come back to me from time to time and it will leave me with hope, or it will leave me with despair. That doesn’t sound so enticing but for me it shows that Ella Frank can write an array of stories that make you feel.
If you enjoy reading the long journey of two men you’re not sure are gonna make it (but they do) – this is for you! Jordan and Derek are not the obvious match but their chemistry can’t be denied. They take a very long time to figure their way through but it makes for an interesting and engaging read.
The audio is well done and I really enjoyed Charlie’s depiction of both characters.
Fucking Perfection!! This is what Devil’s Kiss comes down to. It’s the second book in the Sunset Cove Series and I loved every minute of it. I met Jordan and Derek in Finley as the friends to the couple. I loved them both individually and now love them even more together. I knew there was a story there but damn…it was even better than I thought it would be.
Derek and Jordan are complete opposites. In pretty much every single way. But the minute they saw each other they knew they were in trouble. They were fucked. They were royally screwed. From the moment they spoke they knew fighting was their foreplay. It was a love/hate relationship from the very beginning. They didn’t know how much they would mean to each other until one night when a phone call changed everything…that’s when Derek knew Jordan would always be there. No matter what. But is it because of love, friendship or obligation? What Derek does know for a fact is that Jordan is the one he needs to survive. Does Jordan feel the same way?
I love, love, love Jordan and Derek! Jordan is fucking hot with his arrogance and bossy ways. He knows who he is and owns it. And Derek loves it too. He tries so hard not to show it which makes it even better. Their banter is sexy and funny. Sarcastic and sweet. Their chemistry is sexy as hell. Overall, the relationship is not easy. Not at all. There will be heartbreak. But one thing is for sure. They will always care. And they saw sides to one another that nobody else got to see.
What Is amazing is that Devil’s Kiss spans over a decade of Derek and Jordan’s relationship. It’s beautiful, sexy, funny, and heartbreaking. If you are anything like me, you will cry, want to throw your iPad against the wall, and want to attack your husband the minute he walks through the door. It’s the perfect mix of emotions. Thank you Ella for another amazing story!! I will say I do hope to see a certain someone get his own book…
Overall…like I said Fucking Perfection! Gave me all the feels. I was hooked from the very first page until the very last one.
Quotes:
“Impressive, emperor, and where do the commoners sleep?”
“You are so clueless for a man who is supposed to be a fucking genius. You know that?”
“There are so many things I want to do to you. I’m trying to decide where to begin.”
Love Ella Frank! Great books.
As stated before I love this series
I think I loved this book even more than Finley, and that completely surprised me! I didn’t have a really good feeling about Jordan in that book, he just wasn’t very appealing to me and I thought the match-up between he and Derek was kind of weird. But after reading Devil’s Kiss I’m happy to say I was wrong, so so wrong! Derek and Jordan are a perfect match, and I couldn’t love them more!
When they say opposites attract they couldn’t be more right when it comes to Derek and Jordan- on one hand you have He-Man, and the other, Posh Spice. Somehow, some way, these 2 just fit. I loved the evolution of their relationship- it took awhile for the time to be just right for them, things just weren’t meant to be, until they were.
Jordan was such a revelation in this book, he was so not what I was expecting…he was so much more. He was so kind and caring to Derek, from the beginning of their relationship as student and teacher, to the very end. He was exactly the type of person Derek needed in his life. And Derek, oh Derek! Such a tough exterior hiding such vulnerability. I honestly adored these 2 as a couple. I loved their journey.
10/27/16 I just finished listening to the audio version of this book last night and absolutely loved it! It made me adore these 2 even more than I thought possible. The narrator did such a wonderful job differentiating 2 such different voices, really well done!
