The greatest trick the First Vampire ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn’t exist.If you enjoyed the Blade or Underworld movies, you will love the Shade of Devil series.Before the now-infamous Count Dracula ever tasted his first drop of blood, Sorin Ambrogio owned the night. Humanity fearfully called him the Devil.Cursed by the gods, Sorin spent centuries bathing Europe in oceans of … Devil.
Cursed by the gods, Sorin spent centuries bathing Europe in oceans of blood with his best friends, Lucian and Nero, the world’s first Werewolf and Warlock—an unholy trinity if there ever was one. Until the three monsters grew weary of the carnage, choosing to leave it all behind and visit the brave New World across the ocean. As they befriended a Native American tribe, they quickly forgot that monsters can never escape their past.
But Dracula—Sorin’s spawn—was willing to do anything to erase Sorin’s name from the pages of history so that he could claim the title of the world’s first vampire all for himself. Dracula hunts him down and slaughters the natives, fatally wounding Sorin in the attack. Except a Shaman manages to secretly cast Sorin into a healing slumber.
For five hundred years.
Until Sorin is awoken by a powerful Shaman in present-day New York City. In a world he doesn’t understand, Sorin only wants one thing—to kill Dracula and anyone else who stands in his path. When the descendant of an infamous vampire hunter steps into his life, Sorin is torn between conflicting feelings in his heart—revenge or love. But to a woman like Victoria Helsing, it might just be considered a bloody good date.
The streets of New York City will flow with rivers of blood, and the fate of the world rests in the hands of the Devil, Sorin Ambrogio.
Because this town isn’t big enough for the both of them.

This review is not going to be popular. I’m aware of that. However, I always swore I’d give an honest review and I’m not going to change that now.
This, while a fun story, was not what I expect from Shayne. His Nate Temple, Feathers and Fire and Phantom Queen Diaries series are all excellent series written with an amazing skill. Devil’s Dream, not so much.
The story of Dracula, vampires, the influx of vampires in the Americas, all these things have been told before. In many different ways. Shayne’s way is different in an intriguing way, but the story begins to get a bit trite when characters are introduced that we’ve come across before. And we’ve come across them in similar situations before. And when I realized I had guessed how it would end approximately 4 chapters in, well, I was disappointed in that.
But it was a fun story, and I am interested in reading book 2, It is his writing ability that will keep me coming back, not necessarily the storyline. So if you like vampire stories with a twist, you’ll probably enjoy this. I may not have loved it, but I certainly didn’t hate it. I’m just hoping it improves with each book.
Sorry, Shayne. I still love all your other series. And, who knows, I may grow to love this one too.
It’s a Shayne Silvers book. I need not so any more.

In this day and age it’s rare to find a genuine original twist to the Vampire Lore or genre, such as J.R. Ward’s The Blackdagger Brotherhood Series or Stephanie Myers Twilight series (the books, that is) or the movies of Blade and the Underworld Series!
It’s usually just repetitions of the same old thing and it’s all be done before, but that’s exactly what Master Wordsmith Shayne Silvers has done with His brand new series Shade Of Devil.
And while yes, we know many of the depraved & dangerous characters involved, Mr Silvers’ version is unlike any other you’ve witnessed before, placing him in the elite company of those above creating a fresh take on Vampire lore & the crazy characters that inhibit this series and the ties in with the Native American Indian’s, adding that extra touch of authenticity to an already creative writing style.

This is the story of a monster turned man who’s paid the ultimate price of betrayal leaving behind the Old World of Europe, to his protege, for a life of love, happiness & normalcy in the unknown’s of the New Frontier, The America’s rather than continuing to bath the Old World in blood with Dracula and kin.

Why not take a midnight whirl around the streets of Manhattan dancing a tango of danger, destruction, revenge, and lust with Sorin Ambrogio & his incredibly exciting ferocious ensemble of original and well known historical figures, friendly and foe. The dangerous and the Divine and the soon to be dead in this well loved genre of vampire lore.
I RATE DEVIL’S DREAM
5 Out Of 5!
Out of this world and worth the price,
don’t buy the book, buy the whole damned series, you won’t regret it!!!
I bought a copy of this book from Amazon and this is my fair, honest and impartial review as always.

(Bye Love From The Crazy Australian BookWorm)!
Shayne has ventured outside of the Templeverse with this great 1st installment on a new series about Sorin the REAL 1st Vampire. Shayne has found ways to weave in some famous monster characters we have seen in many classic novels. He does this with a modern twist. In the beginning of the book you are introduced to Sorin and some of his friends. Sorin you find out he has an innate ability to make friends with the most unlikely of character, but you also see he can be the Devil too. He is a little complex you might say.
The book starts out a little slow, but what do expect when someone wakes up from several hundred years of slumber. Sorin much like a toddler, has to learn about the modern world rather quickly. Things really pick up and the story moves very quickly. Shayne catches you and reels you in before you know it. I finished the book and was wanting to jump right into book 2.
One of the best paranormal books I have read recently. It was fresh and punchy and although it included myths and legends it was not in anyway similar to the Templeverse books.
The characters are well developed and the story reflected this author’s quick wit and humour. There is plenty of action and the story is fast paced with just a hint of romance/lust (difficult to tell at this early stage), with strong leading characters and great world building.
This book keeps you engaged from start to finish and I cannot wait for the second in the series to be published.
A Proven Wordsmith
When I heard about this new series by Master Shayne Silvers, I wasn’t so sure how I was going to feel about the books. I love The Nate Temple series and Feathers and Fire but this was something different. I have to say Shayne Silvers proved to me he is the most extraordinarily talented writer of the decade. He has woven a tale that pulls you into an old fictional story line and creates his own epic saga to draw you into his tale! A definite must read!
Silvers concocted the perfect way to write his own version of a Vampire. Don’t throw all things vampiric out… Don’t try to redefine the concept of vampires… Instead, Shayne took a genius approach…
1. Call Dracula a liar about his origin;
2. Go further back in time;
3. Write an origin that is as creative as Shayne wants;
4. Find a way to time-hop him to the future; and
5. Make the rest of the supernatural world react.
This gave us a great new character with his own flaws, strengths, weaknesses, and traits.
Silvers will need multiple books, just to unveil all the ways that this Vampire stands out from your average blood suckers.
Meanwhile, this first book gives the readers a great hint of a long back-story. This book was a delightful tour of the appetizers from this Vampire’s menu – making us only ache to taste the bloody entrees that are yet to come.
The characters that surround this new world are PRIMED for development and unveiling.
IN SUMMARY… Shayne has not just given us a taste of a new and unique fine wine. He has done so, while pointing at the vast wine cellar that it comes from – promising his readers a cornucopia of blood-soaked greatness.
This is a new series from one of my favorite authors, Shayne Silvers. Devil’s Dream is a fantastic new spin on the story of the first vampire and Dracula’s role in that. I had started to get burnt out on the vampire drama’s, there are so many and they all run along the same storyline. Shayne took the vampire idea and made it truly his own. If you enjoy an intriguing storyline and a book that will consume you, this is definitely it. Shayne is a master wordsmith and this new series does not disappoint!
Devil’s Dream really sucked me in.
Action, humor, drama, more humor, a strong pull from various legend and lore, and more humor litter the pages of Shayne Silvers’ first foray out of the Templeverse. With a heaping helping of all the things you expect from Shayne (snark, plot twists, and the curse inducing ending) Devil’s Dream doesn’t need to ride Nate Temples coattails into your heart, Sorin will posses it all on his own.
A refreshing take on an oft butchered tale, be prepared for Sorin to rock your world a time or two…. or seven.
Alliteration, punny insults and some oldies but goodies pulled out of the classics. I love this new series! I was a bit unsure at first, but this is a new variation on the theme that is executed so well. I am really looking forward to more in this series.
What a brilliantly, refreshing, never heard before, tale of the true First Vampire and his journeys to a new world, a new family, new love and heartbreak and the tastiest of all…slipping (or sleeping 😉 through time to A Whole New World (yes I sang that in my head too) to exact sweet, sweet revenge on, the worlds biggest a-hole, Dracula and his saddled mules! Shayne Silvers has done it again, my friends. You think you’ve seen it all and then you meet Sorin Ambrogio, with a name like that what’s not to like? Get your copy today, while I’m anxiously awaiting Book 2
I love the twisted way that Shayne Silvers can magically write a story and suck you in from the very beginning! Devil’s Dream is about Vampires but it also introduces us to a group of characters ranging from a Warlock to a Shaman, and a pack of Werewolves. It has that snarky fun vibe that Shayne captures so well with his characters. I loved it and can’t wait to get the next one. If you love Shaynes books like I do, Get it! If you haven’t read anything from Shayne Silvers this would be a great place to start, but I would also recommend The Nate Temple Series and the Feathers and Fire series as well! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own copy.
This new series from Shayne Silvers is an imaginative take on the lore of vampires. Sorin Ambrogio was the first vampire – Dracula’s creator. We get Sorin’s backstory, and get to watch him learn to adapt to the modern world. A time traveler of sorts.
Along the way we meet a host of new characters – many with familiar names – but in true Silvers fashion their stories are turned on their heads.
This is another fun, must read from Shayne Silvers.
Shayne Silver’s has done it again! This is the introduction to a new series and it takes off running with Sorin Ambrogio’s story. Fast paced and well written, Shayne sucks the reader in and holds their attention with unexpected twists and turns. If you liked Blade and cheered Selene on in Underworld, you will thoroughly enjoy Devil’s Dream: Shade of Devil.
If you enjoy a great read…. Urban Fantasy/ Dark Fantasy genre. This one has it in spades…… the 1st vampire was largely unknown until NOW and Dracula wants him dead! Read this and you will NOT be disappointed!! New York city will not ever be the same since Sorin was awakened after 500 years of sleep……
Extremely well written and great fun to read. Sorin is a great character and I love all the sidekicks he picks up along the way!! Well worth your time. Great work Master Shayne Silvers!!
Great New intro. Go read it
I suck a reviews. No two people appreciate the same things in a book the same way. I might laugh at a joke that goes right over someone else’s head. That being said, there’s something for everyone to appreciate it this book. The characters jump off the pages and come to life in your mind. You can picture the settings like you’re right there beside Sorin and his companions. You see the world through new eyes and laugh at things that you wouldn’t even have thought were funny before. This book was meant to be devoured, so plan accordingly.
This new series by Shayne Silvers starts as a blast. Rich backstory, great characters, intense action, and humor explode off of the page, giving the reader a hell of a ride. I loved seeing all of these moving parts weaving this tapestry together. And, as one would expect, the author turns known mythologies on their head. This series is going to be fun. Excellent book 1!
A great new series start! A big WOW to Shayne for another excellent book!
