Someone is slaughtering the innocent. Fiercely independent Logan McKenna faces her worst fears. That someone now has her daughter.
It’s summer, and with a new job, a new life, and plenty of time for her music, life couldn’t be better for Logan. She and her daughter, Amy, home from Africa, even rescue an orphaned sea otter pup. They help nurse it back to health at Jasper’s fledgling Sea Otter … Jasper’s fledgling Sea Otter Center. But more than one person lays claim to the gorgeous stretch of coastal property upon which the center is built. All want it badly—but for very different reasons. Soon, storm clouds begin to swirl around the center, threatening the lives of all who enter.
When Logan arrives to start her shift, she makes a tragic discovery. One of her talented young students, also a volunteer, has been coldly murdered. Just steps away, Logan finds another victim, the owner of the center, barely alive.
As the most powerful coastal storm in decades grows ever more violent, Logan’s worst fears are confirmed. The center’s Zodiac raft is missing. So are Amy and the baby sea otter. Neither are equipped to survive the storm.
Pulling out all the stops, Logan enlists the help of friends in the small town of Jasper she calls home, racing to rescue Amy before the killer or the storm take her daughter from her forever. Only love, trust, and community have any chance of stopping the killer, before more lives, including Logan’s own, are lost.

Devil’s Claw (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 3)
By Valerie Davisson
5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Devil’s Claw (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 3) by Valerie Davisson. It is a story that once I started, I couldn’t put it down until the final page. It is a book that includes mystery and danger. I have enjoyed reading the first two books in the series and I found this one to be just as amazing. The author does a wonderful job of weaving a tale that had me turning pages wondering what will happen next. This story revolves around the disputed property of Lot 429. Some want the property for selfish reasons. How far with they go to possess it? Read this book to find out. I loved that this story includes a new Sea Otter Center. When reading about the center and the orphaned sea otter that is where my heart just melted. I love the character of Logan. She is intelligent, strong, and independent. She has a fierce determination as well as a true and kind heart. I also enjoyed reading about Amy, Logan’s daughter, and the part that she plays in this story. This book has heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. There are also moments of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. Other additional characters play their part and it is wonderful that some of those from the first two books make their appearance again in this one. Don’t miss out on a story that is exciting, mysterious, and entertaining. I would recommend reading it.
Another great story from this series. I always love the facts we learn about different things in each book. This one was no different, as we learn about sea otters!
Where there is Logan, there is trouble and this one didn’t disappoint. Probably my favorite of the series so far! I wont be givibg many details away as I don’t want to spoil the story.
Can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading in order as to get the whole experience that is Logan McKenna.
Devil’s Claw is the third book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series as well as the third book I’ve raad by this author. I’ve said it before but I will repeat myself again, I truly enjoy Logan as a strong female lead and this time around I enjoyed the inclusion of her daughter as well. While any of these books can be read as stand alone reads, I recommend reading in order. Not only does this allow for more character depth, the books really are worth it.
Valerie Davisson has a way of bringing real life issues to light while delivering a story that is filled with enough action and intrigue to keep you turning from first page to last. I truly look forward to more from this author… and more Logan McKenna. 4 out of 5 stars for sure!

Once again this book shows that this other does a considerable amount of research for her books. In this book we learn about sea otters, a very interesting topic, however at the same time we are immersed in a mystery. Love her writing style. I love these kinds of books, learning something along with a good mystery goes together excitingly well. Good job! I highly recommend this book!
This is the third book in the Logan McKenna series. The book opens with a letter from an old man and the happenings decades later from it. This story is set in California and a sea otter rescue center that is located on a piece of property that subsequently everybody wants. So badly in fact, that there is a murder over it. The amount of information regarding otters and rescues just goes to show the length of research done on the author’s part which makes a reader well informed. This books claws pull you in and does not release until you are done reading it – it is that good!
Devil’s Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller by Valerie Davidson
Four Stars
Devil’s Claw is the third book in the Logan McKenna series by Valerie Davisson. This series keeps getting better and better. This book found Logan in the middle of a mystery. Logan and her daughter, Amy, found a baby otter pup and take it to the Sea Otter Center, and that is where all of the mayhem begins. This story had me up all night because I had to find out how this book ended. If you like book with action, adventure, mystery and did I mention, baby otters, this is the book for you. This book can be read as a standalone , but I highly recommend you read this series in order. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Davisson has in. Store for us next.
So far this is my favorite of the series. It is interesting and kept me turning pages. I loved the whole storyline. Her daughter coming back, the otter sanctuary and the land grabbers. There is also murder, back stabbing, cute little otters and great beach views. Logan, Ben, Amy and Liam were wonderful.
I did get thrown off when we started getting Gary’s (lawyer) whole story. Not sure why we needed it other than to show desperation.
Overall it’s a solid story.
Devil’s Claw is the third book in Valerie Davisson’s Logan McKenna series. You can read it as a standalone as it has its own ‘story’ but like with any other series, I feel that one should start from the beginning as every book builds upon the previous one when it comes to the characters that are there from one book to the other.
I loved the opening to the story – having an old man reflecting on his life and writing a letter that would have an impact 40 years later … powerful. Also, I lover Pacific Northwest so the detailed description of the nature and the maritime life, especially the otters … such a treat! Obviously as it is Logan McKenna story, it means there is a violent death that brings along so many different layers of human nature – we get thrown into greed, personal loss while we also have the hope through the community keeping together and the trust and love we find there …
Welcome to the fight for the Lot 429!
This series continues to capture my attention and draw me in immediately. To fully appreciate the depth and development of the main character, you should read this in series order. However it is not necessary to follow the story or enjoy it. Logan has found herself in the middle of another thrilling situation and I couldn’t walk away from this book without finding out what the last page held. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to seeing how the series will continue. Definitely recommended reading.
Devil’s Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller Book 3 (The Logan McKenna Series) by Valerie Davisson is a cosy mystery and we are once again immersed in Logan’s story. Valerie has given us a complex plot but it is believable and well written. This one is my favourite so far in the series. If the plot is well done, the characters are well written, and there is action and intrigue, throw in some curve balls and a vivid picture painted by the author, what more do you need? Valerie does a good job of giving us something that delights all the senses.
DEVIL’S CLAW (A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 3) by Valerie Davisson
4 of 5 Stars
Book three in Davisson’s ‘Logan McKenna Mystery Series’ and having read the previous two novels in the series I was looking forward to this one and was definitely not disappointed. Back with our fearless and extremely likeable and relatable independent heroine Logan McKenna I felt as though I was back with an old friend, as she has another mystery to solve. This novel sees Logan at a good point in her life, with a new job, plenty of time for her love of music and with daughter Amy home, Logan feels that her new life is just beginning.
Logan and Amy rescue an orphaned sea otter pup and this leads them to Jasper’s Sea Otter Centre where they help nurse the pup back to health. The Sea Otter Centre soon gets swept up in the property claim of Lot 429, a stretch of gorgeous coastal property which a lot of powerful players have their sights on including two fighting half siblings. When this leads to a murder of someone close to Logan, she begins to investigate and discovers resentments, greed and painful loss attached to Lot 429. The community must step up and help stop the killer before they strike again and before Logan herself becomes their next victim.
This was Logan’s third mystery and I was hooked from page one and the story kept me gripped until the very last page. The storyline was action packed and fast paced with a plot that kept me guessing until the end. The characters are all well defined and fascinating in their own right but Logan really does hold the story together, for me. It can be read as a standalone novel but the reader will have a better understanding of Logan’s backstory if the series is read in order. I look forward to future books in this exciting series.
Devil’s Claw is the third in the Logan McKenna series by Valerie Davisson. This is my third novel by this author.
This is my favorite novel of the series. Home from Africa with her daughter Amy, the two rescue a sea otter pup and nurse it back to health at the Sea Otter Center.
The center is being claimed by more than one party who wants it for themselves. The feeling of greed can also lead murder, which hits close to home for Logan.
I really loved this novel. Each book gets better and better. I anxiously wait for the next one.
There is a prime real estate spot, Lot 429, there are alot of interested parties but what will happen?
This is the third book in this series and we follow Logan and her daughter moving to California and what will this move hold.
The book opens with a great lure into the story which will make you want to keep reading to uncover the truths and the mystery around the elusive plot 429. As the story weaves through you are introduced to great characters which have you wondering and thinking what is there motives regarding everything. As you uncover the truths within the story you are drawn deeper into the mystery and try to uncover who the murderer is.
I really enjoyed this well and developed story, it will have you reading well into the night to try and uncover the brilliant twists and turns of the brillant story. I loved the mixture of characters which just enhanced the story even more.
If you are looking for a great thriller, with a few twists and turns then this is your book, I can’t wait to read the next installment within this series.
Devil’s Claw by Valerie Davisson is the third book in the Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller series. This book can be read as a standalone although it follows the same character so you might want to read the previous 2 first to get the overall build up.
This book is a great addition to the series and just as fast paced and exciting as the other two. The story is complex and interesting and you are drawn into it from the very beginning. I found myself flying through the book, desperate to find out what was going on and what was going to happen.
I loved getting back into the character of Logan. It is always so easy to become engaged with this character again which I think is partly why this series is such a good one. This book has left me just wanting more of them and I cannot wait to see what else is to come.
This sets out in the perfect suspenseful mystery. I loved the start with Logan and her daughter. I found their scenes adorable with the little sea otter to boot. The characters are easy to love but the mystery that surrounds Lot 429 is impeccably written. The theme itself that surrounds the story is also a very good pace for a book of this stature. Of all in this series, I have never been disappointed yet as to what this author has to offer!
I always enjoy a good mystery and Valerie delivers again. I enjoyed book 3 of the Logan McKenna series more than book 2. You get lost in the story all while trying to decipher the truth behind the murder. The characters come to life and it feels like they could be someone you know IRL. Be sure to pay attention! Valerie’s writing style draws you in so much that it may cause you to miss major clues that solve Logan’s mystery.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good, entertaining, cozy mystery.
Devil’s Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery/Thriller Book 3 (The Logan McKenna Series) by Valerie Davisson. This author has truly risen to some of my top favorites. This series keeps giving and I love everything it’s got to give. From the drama and mystery to its bits of adventure I love getting lost in its pages with each character. The characters are complex and well developed, pulling readers in completely and making them one not want it to end and two coming back for more and more. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to read faster and slower all at once. Even the smallest details are focused on and well developed. I like the authors writing style and I I can wait to see where this author takes readers next. Four big stars and highly recommended!
I would have to say that this is one of my favorites from Valerie Davisson. Her writing style is what holds my attention from the first page until the last. You need to pay attention to your surroundings because you may be missing so clues to assist you in the mystery. The story is about the property that is in high demand. Logan has a new murder to investigate. The characters are what keeps this thriller alive. It was quite dark when I finish and the little hairs on the back of my neck were standing on edge. I wanted Logan to help me get through the aftermath of the murder. Logan is a great character who has grown with every murder. I highly recommend this book for you to grow with Logan as well.

Devil’s Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery #3 (The Logan McKenna Series) by Valerie Davisson
Davisson has really done it again. This book is phenomenal and I really hope there’s more to the series. This is the third book in the Logan McKenna Mystery Series.
Logan is happy to have her daughter home although not how she wanted. When she gets the call from her daughter that she found otters Logan rushes to help her. Ben is still in her life and she couldn’t be happier.
Amy goes to the Otter Sanctuary only to find that something had happened. Logan gets worried when she doesn’t hear from Amy so she rushes to be by her daughter’s side. The quote I chose for Logan is: “You and Mike are great parents. You’ve given Haley a solid foundation. You’re doing all the right things. You’re giving her the chance to grow up. It’s going to be up to Haley. If it’s any consolation, I think she’s a great kid.”
Highly recommended for lovers of crime and drama.
This is book 3 in the Logan Mckenna series. This books is just as good as the first two. Packed full of adventure, mystery and edge of your seat action.
Logan Mckenna is back. Her life is moving forward. With her new job and her new life and love everything seems to be on the right track finally.
That is until someone close to Logan is murdered. When some land comes up for auction there is a lot of conflict over it. What is so special about this land and how far will people go to get their hands on it?
As a community pulls together to catch and stop a murderer do they become more deadly than the murderer.
I love th authors writing. The way of writing creates the scenes for you so you actually feel that you are there. Its also nice to have a strong independent female lead character.
