Bestselling authors Kelli Callahan and Isabella Starling present a new, sinfully dark romance series following the glamorous, filthy lives of the elite. There’s a reason they call Devlin Windsor the Devil. He swore he’d own me, and when my family falls on hard times, one of his signature black envelopes arrives on my doorstep. The handsome, cruel, twisted Devil, who broke my heart years ago, is back. broke my heart years ago, is back.
If I want to save my family, I have to sign my name on the dotted line…
I don’t have a choice.
I’m his captive now.
His prisoner.
His property.
Devlin’s going to do whatever he wants to me.
And even though I’ll deny it until my last breath… I can’t wait for him to claim me.
Devil’s Captive is the first book following Devlin Windsor and Violet Cabot.
Their story continues in Devil’s Toy.

When two of my go-to authors decided to co-write this series, I had to jump at the chance to read it. Isabella Starling is a master at intense, dark romance, and Kelli Callahan has steamy locked down. This first book in the series is a roller coaster, and I’m so glad that it’s told in the POV of both Devlin and Violet. To get inside the devil’s head is an added treat. I’m so looking forward to the second book, and just wish it was here now!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
What a deliciously luscious way to start this dark and sinful series. I love the tension, chemistry and angst that is swirling around Devlin and Violet. I also love the hidden underlayer of sweetness and longing. Of course there is a lot of emotional turmoil, drama and steam. This is only book one and yes, that means a cliffhanger! Can’t wait for the next book! This is my sincere, volitional review.
This is a dark and intense read by Isabella Starling and Kelli Callahan. They are spot on with the first book in this new series. Do you love Devlin or hate him? Do you love Violet and feel sorry for her, or envy her? I can hardly wait to see what comes next!
Devlin Windsor is a cruel predator and the devil and Violet Cabot is an innocent and his prey. How are these two going to come out on the other side of all this? As a lover of dark romance, I’m always curious as to how dark an author can get before it becomes impossible to recover. I would like to understand Violet’s state of mind better, she seems way to sheepish to me and I can’t imagine her coming out stronger. I just don’t see any humanity in Devlin. I hope the next book, Devil’s Toy, shows us more of these two as real people and less as one dimensional characters.
I received an ARC via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
A sentence is understood in its context. A short sentence like the title provides no context, unless you read the book. So the title either means Captive belonging to the Devil or the Devil is captive. Because the second idea is so ridiculous it must definitely mean the former, right? Or is it?
