When Devil, the most infamous member of the Cynster family, is caught in a compromising position with plucky governess Honoria Wetherby, he astonishes the entire town by offering his hand in marriage. No one dreamed this scandalous rake would ever take a bride. And as society mamas swooned at the loss of England′s most eligible bachelor, Devil′s infamous Cynster cousins began to place wagers on … on the wedding date.
But Honoria wasn′t about to bend society′s demands and marry a man “just” because they′d been found together virtually unchaperoned. No, she craved adventure, and while solving the murder of a young Cynster cousin fit the bill for a while, she decided that once the crime was solved she′d go off to see the world. But the scalding heat of her unsated desire for Devil soon had Honoria craving a very different sort of excitement. Could her passion for Devil cause her to embrace the enchanting peril of a lifelong adventure of the heart?

This is hands down one of the best Regency books I’ve ever read. A refreshing departure from the lady-in-distress norm. A sassy and witty leading lady and a soon-worthy leading man plus tons of steamy action in the bedroom. My kind ot romance.
Audiobook: Narrator – Simon Prebble
I was a little concerned about this narrator doing both male and female voices but was pleasantly surprised at how well he did and how much I enjoyed it. The voices of not only the hero and heroine were distinctive, but so were many of the secondary characters.
I’ve had this one in my sights for years but …
Devil’s Bride, the first book in the Cynster series, is one of my favourite reads
A Page Turner!
This story starts with a murder, followed by a lady’s reputation being ruined. However the lady doesn’t jump at the solution but digs in her heels. This was a highly entertaining and enjoyable read and I loved every minute of it despite it being plain to the reader almost from the start who the villain was. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite Stephanie Laurens’ books. Honoria Wetherby and Devil Cynster are the perfect Hero and Heroine. The solving of the murder of Devil’s young cousin keeps you guessing as to “who did it”. Laurens builds a world that is complicated and rich in romance.
I loved the first book of the Cynster series. The relationship between Devil and Honoria was steamy and also funny at times. This truly was the foundation book for the entire series
This was recommended to me as a Regency romance full of danger and adventure. It definitely fulfills this promise – but with such a strong alpha hero that I almost didn’t finish. The heroine, Honoria, is plenty strong, willful, and independent. When she spends the night with a mysterious stranger in a cottage as they wait out a (ridiculously long) …
I used to say I don’t read regency, but I think it may be that I was just unfortunate that my first few tries were duds.
This is NOT a dud. I enjoyed this immensely. The only drawback, and this sounds a little crazy, is that the sex scenes felt almost too drawn out for me at times, but not enough for me to knock this down from being 5 …
I love this book! I love the Characters and the great family. This is the first book in the series.
Ok, it was a struggle to get through this book. How I was able to read to the end was the budding romance between Devil and Honoria. I will read another book from this author and hope that changes my view of continuing reading from her. Sorry to the author about this review.
Love, love, love this book. What a great start to the Cynster Series. Honor is and Devil are both strong characters. Their love battles are further enhanced by a mystery.
Love all her books. A really page turner with great characters
Love all her books. Good series.
Read a while back but had forgotten. Still quite the exciting story beginning till end. Witty characters and romantic with dash of action. Some heat between the couple to compliment the whole story.
Heroine and hero wonderful interactions some mystery great characters. There was just something about attraction between the main characters and the friction which I found so enjoyable. I had to buy a second book because the first one started to fall apart. I also have it on my kindle audible which I have listened to several times.
