One of her best! Pandora is one of Lisa Kleypas’ most charming characters. Her story is a most satisfying tale and can be enjoyed again and again. I highly recommend that you read the entire Wallflowers series in order to appreciate the full development of four of the most wonderful women you will ever meet and then continue with The Ravenals” and “The Hathaway’s”-you will not regret a moment spent with any of these books.
In fact, if you are anything like me (and many of my family) you will find yourself returning to these books and finding each reading like visiting with cherished friends.
This is a great believable book. There was great character development and it was SO well written.
A typically well written Kleypas book. The hero and heroine characters are well developed and delightful. The funny and witty dialogue makes it a great read and I can’t wait to read the next book in the Ravenal series.
Excellent series!
I highly recommend this historical romance novel set in Britain. Our heroine is an entrepreneur who designs and manufacturers board games. In Victorian Era Britain, this is unheard of for a woman. You also learn about Victorian Era medicine and surgery. The heroine and hero have many trials on their way to the altar.
Easily one of my favorite Kleypas books, if not my very favorite.
Unlike most of her High Society peers, Lady Pandora Ravenel doesn’t wish to find a husband. In fact, that’s the last thing she needs as it would mean being unable to own her upcoming board game business herself. Unfortunately for her, she becomes caught up in a scandal at a ball with the Ton’s most handsome scoundrel.
Gabriel Challon, Lord St. Vincent, has spent years avoiding marriage traps only to be caught by a completely unsuitable hellion. Even worse, she wants no part of him. Gabriel wants to do the right thing, but soon finds honor is the last thing on his mind and he’s intrigued by Pandora for herself. He’s determined to make her his, if he can convince her of his sincerity and guarantee her freedom.
After a week spent getting to know him better at his parents’ country estate, Pandora agrees to marry Gabriel. But their honeymoon has scarcely ended when her business planning sees Pandora involved in a dangerous plot. Gabriel is determined to keep her safe and show her just how perfectly matched they truly are.
I loved this book when I first read it years ago and it held up well on this audio revisit. The narrator was very suited to Pandora’s quirky attitude and made her very humorous. Pandora getting to know Gabriel was very charming and I loved how she completely reshaped his thinking without even trying. It was delightful to see disillusioned, cynical Gabriel come to life again with Pandora. I also liked the suspense and action towards the end, though I do wish there had been more comeuppance or something of the sort for the terrible mistress. Lively Pandora wasn’t my favorite as a side character, but I enjoyed her as a heroine and I loved the scenes we got with Evie and Sebastian and Helen and Rhys. I enjoyed this unconventional match and their story is still one of my favorites.

My favorite so far..
Enjoyed revisiting the characters from Devil in Winter. This book is not up to Kleypas’ usual brilliance.
This greatly anticipated 3rd entry to The Ravenels series by Lisa Kleypas was in a word, sensational! I had hoped the apple didn’t fall far from the tree when I found out that the hero of Devil in Spring, Gabriel, is the oldest son of Sebastian, the former Lord St. Vincent. First introduced in the Wallflowers series novel, Devil in Winter, Sebastian was a renown rake, now reformed, happily married for 30 years, and the Duke of Kingston for the last 10 years. Pandora is a wallflower by choice, enduring her first London season . She has plans to manufacture and market a board game of her own invention, and is determined never to marry so that she can keep her emotional and financial independence. Gabriel has definitely inherited his father’s sardonic wit, golden good looks, barely leashed sensuality, and he, himself is blindsided by an encounter with a captivating wallflower. His feelings after this first encounter with the delightfully eccentric Pandora, are brilliantly illustrated by these words from the book: “He was a civilized man, an experienced one with sophisticated tastes, and she was…holy God, what was she? He wished to hell he didn’t want to find out so badly.” This mesmerizing couple and their exhilarating romantic journey kept me glued to the pages of this book until the very end.
Love Lisa kleypas
Lisa continues the Wallflower series.
Awesome romance with an eccentric heroine and a pinch of intrigue.
Love her books
For the most part I enjoyed it. There were times where the lead characters got on my nerves, but overall enjoyable.
I always read everything Lisa Kleypas writes. She never lets me down. Her stories are always original.
Loved this series!!!!
I enjoyed Devil in Spring for several reasons
Even though the book ended in the way historical romances are intended, Pandora’s character is extremely unique. She is determined to follow her own path and for that, marriage is not an option. Women’s rights were at the dawn of a new era, but she has reason to not trust men. She refuses an offer from the enimatic heir to a dukedom, Gabriel, who offers for her hand in order to save her reputation. In addition to the intriguing storyline, Ms Klepas understands the writer’s craft making use of her humor and masterful use of the English language. “There was magic in the world, and it was woven throughout each ordinary day, the same force that pulled the tides and drove the rhythm of a human heart.” Well done.
If you read Devil in Winter you will love this. This is the story of Evie and Sebastians’s son, Gabriel, a chip off the old block.
I really enjoy reading this series because I love all the charectors. This one brings back a lot of my favorite wallflowers and ties them in with another favorite family series. Lisa Kleypas always does a good job creating people you care about and adding just enough drama to keep you interested.
