Gah! I adored this book so much. I wasn’t sure that I was going to love Sebastain, but … oh, my heart. It was wonderful! I can’t wait to read the final books in the Wallflowers series.
You will fall in love with Lord St. Vincent. Fun read!
Lisa Kleypas is one of my favorite historical romance authors because her characters are so very real and she writes her heroes especially well.
Pandora is an unusual young lady who doesn’t wish to marry as she will lose her autonomy and her dream of owning a board game business. While she’s independent-minded and outspoken, she’s also insecure and self-conscious as she didn’t have much of a family life growing up and suffers from tinnitus and some hearing loss and equilibrium issues.
Gabriel is the heir of a duke with a tight knit, loving family who seems to have it all…until he falls for Pandora’s unique and irresistible self and discovers she is his missing half.
This is a sweet, sexy love story about a different kind of heroine and her charming knight in shining armor, and I simply loved it.
You need to read this book!!
One thing I love is when an author understands their readers and gives them an update on characters that we love and the wallflower series holds
a special place in my heart.
To read about their kids and to see that no matter what their love is still as explosive as their story was is amazing. Author Lisa Kleypas delivers and she takes her time you can tell she puts a lot of hard work to each of her books. I have read all her books and will continue to always
Lisa is my all time favorite writer for entertaining and enjoyable stories. I started with “Christmas Eve in Friday Harbor” and am now waiting for her latest in the coming year. My highest recommendations.
I am hooked on the Ravenel Family and this third book of the series did not disappoint. Kleypas once again entertains us this time with Lady Pandora Ravenel’s story. Pandora a board game inventor is pleased with her life and vows never to marry and give up control of the business she has begun. Then, she gets stuck in a in a setee. Thus begins another romp of fun with the Ravenel family and Pandora’s soon to be husband Lord Gabriel St. Vincent (son of the Wallflowers, bk. 3 Sebastian now the Duke of Kingston) This is a perfect book to read that though has a happy ever after ending touches briefly on women rights in 1876 sharing information without being preachy. Sometimes you just have to hunker down with a book that is for me relaxing and you know the end will be joyful. No need to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. Warning: graphic adult situations – you can skip over the pages and still enjoy a wonderful story.
Love any book by Lisa Kleypas
You can’t go wrong with Lisa Kleypas. Her books are wonderful!
I adored Pandora’s story! She’s so unique for this time period, which made the story that more intriguing. I laughed at the interactions between Pandora and Gabriel, and routed for Pandora’s efforts to “be normal.” Kleypas hits it out of the park with each book, and continues to create unique characters and situations.
Once again Kleypas has put the Ravenel girls in a rather interesting predicament. Pandora, easily the most rambunctious of the group, finds her self in a peculiar situation involving the object of everyone’s affection and catch of the season Lord Gabriel St. Vincent.
If the scandal wasn’t problem enough, Pandora has to risk her dreams in order to ensure her families honor remains intake. What both Gabriel and Pandora thought would be there undoing slowly becomes their reason for being.
Will this two be able to find love and happiness with each other or will they crash and burn?
A wonderful book that you will remember!
Audiobook Review
Overall 4 stars
Performance 5 stars
Story 4 stars
I really enjoyed Pandora and Gabriel’s story. It was sweet and sexy, but also had quite a bit of action. There wasn’t too much angst and the majority of the drama was external to the couple. In addition to the romance, there’s a subplot that helps pave the way for the characters in the next book. This is book 3 in the series and can be read as a standalone, but it will be most enjoyed if read in order.
Pandora and Gabriel couldn’t be more different, but they ended up complementing each other so well. They both were just what the other was looking for without even knowing it. I loved how all in they both were and how supportive Gabriel was of Pandora. I wasn’t a huge fan of Gabriel’s history with Mrs. Black, but the reformed rake hero is my least favorite. Gabriel eventually won me over though with his tenderness and thoughtfulness. My favorite character though, was Dragon. He was great comic relief and I loved the friendship that developed between him and Pandora.
The narration by Mary Jane Wells was fantastic again and it truly could not have been better. I continue to be amazed by her skill and ability to fully transport readers with her humorous and emotional performances. I can’t wait to start the next book!
The whole series is good, but this is my favorite one.
I loved this book!
A great series
This was such an entertaining read. I love the Ravenel family! I loved Pandora and Gabriel, they were so intriguing and I enjoyed their challenge with one another. It was exciting to read!
I loved revisiting the world of the Wallflowers. The gentleman in this story is the son of my favorite Kleypas couple, Evangeline and Sebastian.
Loved the quirky heroine! Definitely a keeper and re-reader!
I would give this one 6 out of 5 stars!!! I have read this one twice, at least. It’s a perfect read for this isolation period. I can’t put it down. Pandora speaks to every woman’s heart – every one of us can find a little of us in Pandora.
Thank you, Lisa!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!
My Thoughts:
Devil in Spring was a fantastic audio, and a book where I didn’t want to take my headphones off. I’m enjoying The Ravenels Series, but have been listening to it out of order, more based on interest than anything else. These can be read as standalones, and I have not had any problems following along.
Pandora is a a quirky, determined, and independent wallflower. She doesn’t ever want to get married, because her dream is to start her own game board business, and be the one running and controlling every aspect of it. Unfortunately, once a lady marries, everything she owns becomes her husband’s property.
Pandora has been attending the season, more as a support, so that her twin Cassandra, can find what she yearns for most; love and marriage. However, at one such ball, Pandora finds herself in what appears to be a compromising position. The handsome, wealthy, and upperclass, Lord Gabriel St. Vincent is just trying to be of assistance to Pandora, but their position is misconstrued.
Now Lord St. Vincent must marry Pandora, or her reputation and that of her family will be ruined. The Ravenels’ accept an invitation to spend the week with the St. Vincents at their estate, so everyone can get to know each other.
What follows is a beautiful love story that had me smiling and giddy. I loved Pandora’s strength, unique, fun, and impulsive personality. I thought Gabriel was the traditional romantic hero. He was gallant, and once he started to fall for Pandora, he was all about her. My heart melted with how he was willing to give her what she needed, wanted, and deserved, in a time where women were considered second-class citizens. His actions showed us how much he loved and treasured her.
If you like historical romance, or want to give it a try, I recommend reading, Devil in Spring.
