“Hell is empty and all the devils are here.” ~William Shakespeare
Violet Parker knows better than to play with devils. They always cheat, especially when lives are at stake. Deadwood’s charming, troublemaking, and soul-sucking devils are no different, and they’re biting at her heels.
But the clock is ticking and Violet has no choice—she must risk her life to save her treasured Aunt Zoe. With any … Aunt Zoe. With any luck, she might be able to trick the devils and beat the old terrors at their own game. If not, Deadwood could end up short one Executioner.
“Executioners don’t duck, they swing.” ~Violet Parker

First line—”‘What dumbass thought catching an Hungarian devil made of smoke and shadow was a good idea?'”
Oh my gosh! With an opening line like that one, you just know the rest of the book is going to be one crazy ride. And believe me it, definitely was an exciting one. I absolutely love this series and I’m forever amazed at the dramatic and creative story-lines that Ann comes up with for each book. What will she think of next?
Devil Days in Deadwood has maybe become one of my favorites in this whole series. I just absolutely loved everything about it. The ongoing and quirky relationships were at their peak. I can’t count how many times I laughed out loud, such hilarious characters. Then the dangers that Violet’s profession puts them all in was exciting, as well as being a bit scary. And in the end, everyone works together to defeat the bad guys….. for now. There are always more waiting in the wings.
I have a love/hate relationship with the endings of Ann’s books. She leaves the reader in a dramatic situation but always promises that there will be more coming, we just need to be patient. But it is so hard!!
I am a huge fan of this whole series and I’m always recommending them to anyone and everyone who will listen to me. Check it out!
Violet and her posse are in deep with an imp on the loose, Prudence on a rampage and the liderc coming for Violet. After all none of her past Scharfrichters have succeeded in killing it. Emotions are high and the tequila is flowing as this posse brainstorms to help Violet defeat the liderc without getting killed.
Spooky, funny, and with great characters. The Deadwood series is a keeper!
Love the series
This is one of my favorite series! I love reading about Violet, her smoldering boyfriend Doc, her best friend Nat and the budding romance Nat has with the steely-edged police detective Coop. The spooks are back too, and the stakes keep getting higher with each book. With two other series that crossover with Deadwood, Ms. Charles offers plenty of literary fun to sink your reading teeth into.
Devil Days In Deadwood is the 11th book in this crazy and fun paranormal world that the author has created. The plot is twisting and getting thicker as time runs out for Violet to save her aunt Zoe. I just love this cast of characters and their adventures in Deadwood!
Can’t get enough!
Fun characters in a long series. I like the Jackrabbit Junction series a bit better but enjoy this one
Great way to escape into the haunted town of Deadwood Arizona! Fun characters and a mystery to solve with lots of smiles along the way…
Ann Charles has created a wonder world of characters that you want in your life and some characters you might want to smack into the next century. Action, spooky and quirky moments that will leave you laughing out loud while possibly hiding under your bed. (After checking does those things that go bump in the night and day.). As all her others this books this one ensnares you’re until you reach the last page and realize you can’t wait until the next one. And as a bonus her other series are in this same Universe. Enjoy.
I Love all of the Deadwood team and this book was laugh out loud funny just ask my husband when I actually woke him up laughing. I could not help it when Violet’s mouth set off Det.( Doggie) Hawke and Natalie with the flowers and Rex. Everyone needs a Natalie in their life. I was just sad to see it end and cannot wait for more books. It’s like visiting old friends that you have to leave glad it is just for a while.
I love this series by Ann Charles and this book just adds more love for it. The story just keeps building along with Violet’s skills and knowledge as an Executioner. Her drive to protect and save her Aunt Zoe from the devil of the black hills does get her into trouble but it also shows how far Violet is willing to go for the people she loves. As always, I can’t wait for the next book.
Ann Charles delivers with her eleventh installment in her Deadwood Mystery Series. Violet with her band of friends plunge into their new adventures with gusto. This addition to the series is another fast paced wild ride that delivers lots of laughs a long the way. Throughly enjoyed this episode and can hardly wait for the next.
This book really ties the team together, it’s an odd bunch but they are great together. I’ve enjoyed seeing our main lady growing into herself, becoming more confident and ready to protect her family. One dangerous thing is handled, but more chaos is running amuck. I love the thrills and laughs this series has to offer.
Violet has unfinished business with the Hungarian Devil and catching it to help get Dominic off her back and away from Aunt Zoe.
I absolutely love the way Ann grabs your attention and keeps you wanting more and stopping just as you scream no I need more.
The holidays are over and it’s time to get back to work in the Black Hills. Time is running out for Violet and crew to take care of one pesky Hungarian devil in order to keep her beloved Aunt Zoe from the clutches of whatever kind of devil Dominick Masterson is. As the hunt for the Hungarian Devil begins poor Violet has more twists and turns thrown at her and her duties as an executioner keep piling higher and higher. Throw in the bristly detective Cooper, cantankerous Harvey, super hot medium Doc, best friend Natalie, mentor Zoe, 2 kids who love ghosts and ghouls as much as their mom hates them, and Abraham Lincoln look-a-like Cornelius and you’ve got a revolving door of hilarious situations and tense moments.
From her characters unique styles to their humorous interactions, Ann has once again outdone herself with this book. You won’t be disappointed to pick this one up but you might lose a lot of sleep because it’s almost impossible to put down.
Violet rocks. In this book you really see that Violet is taking the bull by the horns. Everyone comes together to try to help Violet with all of her craziness. You have mystery romance laugh out loud good wit. This book is an all-time favorite. Can’t go wrong with anything that Ann Charles writes. Looking forward to seeing what Violet and the posse are up to next. With most definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves to read.
Another stellar read from Ann Charles! I couldn’t put it down! Honestly I think my friends are getting sick of hearing about Ann because I talk about her stories so much! I just can’t reccomend her enough! A+++
Ann Charles’ Deadwood books always deliver laughs, chills, and “the feels”, all in an addictive series that you never want to end! They are part comedy, mystery, romance, and thriller with supernatural & paranormal fights to the death. They are also about family, both blood and chosen, and loyalty to the end.
This heroine may not have signed up to protect people from evil but she’s the only one to take up the call. She’s scared but does what she must in order to protect her kids, her friends, and the innocent. All while trying to hold down a job, raise said kids, get quality time with her man, and somehow manage to stay alive.
Not only do you find yourself rooting for the heroine but all of her friends and allies too. Nobody writes quirky and lovable the way Ann does. The reader gets pulled into the lives of these zany characters & they begin to feel like real-life friends.
Her human “bad guys” are so “real” that you’ll have inevitably met someone in your day to day life that reminds you of them. You end up loathing these baddies and cannot wait til they get their due! You love to hate them.
Every new book is like visiting old friends but these old friends are always getting pulled into a new adventure that keeps the story fresh and exciting. I highly recommend the Deadwood Mystery Series and every other series by Ann Charles! Devil Days in Deadwood is book 11 in the series. If you are new to this author and interested in this series, book 1 is titled Nearly Departed in Deadwood.
Ann Charles
Another great book I’m the Deadwood Series. Ann Charles never fails to entertain with her books!!
This is the 11th book in the Deadwood Mystery series, and it seems like each one is better than the last! It has a dose of humor, some thrills, chills and steam; everything I’ve come to expect from Ann Charles! I just can’t wait for the next one!
