“Must read debut of 2019!”Falling for him was not part of the plan. It was the perfect plan. I would marry one of my closest friends and reap the financial rewards. He needed a savior right when I showed up on my white horse. We’d been friends for years, so now we’d be glorified roommates. No one had to know two straight guys decided to tie the knot. We agreed nothing would change. We’d just go … the knot. We agreed nothing would change. We’d just go on with our normal lives.
That was the plan until I started to notice more about him than just his laid back vibe. I started to look forward to coming home. I lived to talk books, art, and love. Suddenly, we were both feeling things that didn’t make any sense. We didn’t date men. We had to make a decision – act on the attraction or try to pretend it wasn’t there.
One thing about perfect plans – sometimes you have to deviate.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I don’t even know where to begin. When I read the blurb I felt this would be an interesting, fun mm story. Boy it is so much more. It is interesting, fun and mm but it is also beyond emotional, well thought out, sexy, unsure relationship and a outstanding romance story. It is so much more than mm. The author lays out several times its not the gender a person falls in love with but rather the two people who fit together and fall in love no matter who or what they are. I really enjoyed the fact the author made this is much more than a stereotype friends to lovers gay romance. The original idea behind the actions of Jason and Quinn is original. I dislike paying taxes but this takes it beyond. As the story progresses the questionable relationship between them is well played out. I really enjoyed the “together date night” they had and how sexy they were throughout the story. It is fun to read a story were you think things will go one way and then as you are reading you question your assumptions. The story flows so consistently throughout and concludes so smoothly that I ended the book with a warm hearted feeling. I envy having a friend like Charlie. So unjudge mental and caring. He added so much to the story from beginning to ending. This is one of the few books I will read again just for the good feelings it left me with. I look forward to the next book in the series.
A new author and a debut book Mia Monroe has got a winner here! Such a wonderful story of discovering what you need and what it’s like to find it and a love so hot it lights a fire that will burn for a life time. When Jasonlearns he needs to do something about his high tax bracket his lawyer and friend Charlie tells him he should get married, with no future prospects he considers a mutual arrangements that is beneficial to him and his partner. The one that comes to mind is a good friend he’s know most his life Quinn, Quinn is a struggling artist and has been burned in the past. Together they begin a journey of discovery that neither knew they wanted or needed. A great story that keeps you so engrossed in their journey that you just can’t put it down, really enjoyed it.

An unpredictable, beautiful and tantalizing story.
Jason and Quinn have been good friends for quite a long time. Both in two different career paths but their friendship has stayed true. When one needs to ask the favor of a lifetime, commitment and bonds of friendship are tested; emotions and feelings rise.
Deviate showcases more than just a normal MM romance dabbling in love and lust. No, it broadens our horizons and teaches us to open our hearts and accept what we want in life even when it is more than what is to be expected.
“Something is happening to me. To us. I don’t understand it yet. I don’t know if I will. And if I take his suggestion and just go with it, how far will we go?”
Mia Monroe’s writing was original and fresh. She is a new author for me and I can securely say that Deviate won’t be the last book I read from her.
Inspiring Tale of Love
“We thought our lives would just go on as they were, but the smartest people know it’s okay to deviate, make new plans, adjust.”
When emotions evolve from a business deal, we see that love can happen most unexpectedly!
In Deviate, Mia Monroe allows us to follow along and watch as a relationship, we would rarely be privy to, grows from friendship to love.
With sensitivity, urgency, lust, and love, we are reminded that opening our hearts to the love of our life can sometimes be the bravest thing we can do.
4.5 stars. A sweet, gay for you story that really impressed me. I fell in love with Jason and Quinn as they were falling in love with one another. The build from friendship, to lust, to deep love was a great journey. These two had chemistry in spades and it ignites with one simple kiss. I was impressed with Quinn as he slowly led Jason to open his heart to the possibility of ‘them’, never pushing. The paintings draw the reader along with the storyline and Quinn’s poem for Jason was swoon-worthy. My only qualm was that it is told in the first person, never a favorite of mine. It would’ve bumped it to a full five stars otherwise. I’m crossing my fingers that in the next book that isn’t a problem.
