The villain isn’t supposed to be king.I have a simple plan.Finish Royal Elite School and get into my dream university. One glance from the school’s king blows my plan up in smoke. One glance and he suffocates my air.One glance and he issues his death sentence. His first words spiral my life into irreparable chaos.“I will destroy you.”Everything about Aiden King is black.Black mind.Black heart.Black … you.”
Everything about Aiden King is black.
Black mind.
Black heart.
Black soul.
I should’ve remained quiet and endured the time I have left.
I didn’t.
I made the irrevocable mistake of provoking the king on his throne.
The devil in his hell.
And now, I’ll pay the price.
Being hated by Aiden King is dangerous.
But being wanted by him is lethal.
Deviant King is book one of Royal Elite Series. This is a dark high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive. Aiden isn’t the normal romance hero. In fact, he’s not a hero at ALL. So please don’t read this if any of that bothers you.
This book is part of a trilogy and is NOT standalone.
The second book, Steel Princess, is available now.more
Deviant King
A Dark High School Bully Romance (Royal Elite, Book 1)
By: Rina Kent
Narrated by: Shane East, Keira Stevens
Some books deserve more than the 5 stars we can give them, and Rina Kent’s Deviant King is one. If you love dark, delicious bully romances, this should be your next listen! Elsa has entered Royal Elite and is on course to get into Cambridge. Nervous as any student, she is looking to make friends. But what she gets is the King of the school as her personal bully. Aiden King is the man. All listen to him, and if you are on his blacklist, you can surely know you will be on it with everyone. Why has Aiden chose Elsa as his target? Spend the next several hours as we delve into the connection between Elsa and Aiden. It’s dark, and I found myself in a love hate relationship with several of the characters. It’s mysterious as we try to decipher the reasons why things happen, and as soon as you think you will burst with anger, something sweet and tender happens. It’s an emotional push pull and a thrilling story, one you just cannot stop listening to. It does leave us on a cliffhanger, so I will be watching for book two!
Rina Kent picks the perfect narrators for this. Told from Elsa’s point of view, Keira Stevens sets the pace with my favorite of her narrations. She is strong and confident, scared and fearless, clear headed and confused and most of all full of hate and loving. She carries the essence straight through letting us be Elsa. Shane East comes in with duet narration of all the male characters, but his portrayal of Aiden is mesmerizing. He has a way of sounding twisted at times and so angry but we can hear an underlying hurt. This team is fantastic and I can’t wait for more!

HOLYYYY HELL! What did I just read? A masterpiece that’s what it was. Just when I thought Rina Kent couldn’t get any better, she proves me wrong! Deviant King is dark, gritty and absolutely spectacular. This book is f*cked up… so messed up that you actually like it. I definitely loved it! It ticked all the right boxes to what I love in a dark romance.
Aiden and Elsa are the main leads. Right on point when Elsa steps foot into her new school she comes across Aiden who makes her first day hell and promises to destroy her. Without knowing anything, Elsa is left confused.
I enjoyed Elsa. She was a beautiful, bold and broken character. Something that made me love her. She wasn’t a badass but she wasn’t weak either, she’s lovely and my heart went out to her. If there’s anyone that can fix Aiden’s black heart, it’s her.
Aiden is a really complex character, you hate him throughout the book but it’s not a BAD hate It’s exactly the way Elsa feels. You can’t help but be drawn to him. He’s a mystery. A dark secret. There’s many times I wanted to punch him for his actions but I can’t help and swoon over him too. His character is the driving force of this story and is covered in deep layers… Not once do you see a vulnerable side of him which only makes the book even more exciting.
Final Thoughts: Rina Kent wrote this book amazingly! I want to know what goes on in her mind because she keeps serving us with greatness. What is it that makes this Aiden so dark? I guess we have to wait… This novel is a series that has more books coming soon. I read Levi’s book and absolutely loved it. Aiden was even better, but this is not the end of him. There’s more to come and my patience is running out. I’m HOOKED with this series and I can’t wait for more!

Omg where do I even start? This book omg is hands down the best from the series. Aiden that psycho, I love him. Nice guys just don’t do it for me. Why should I even try to like them when I have guys like Aiden ruining them for me. Elsa, she truly is Aiden’s queen. I love how strong she was in this book. Yes, she let Aiden have his way with her body but there are some battles you just can’t win. And those battles are when Aiden goes bat shit crazy. But Elsa always stood her ground around Aiden, never let him see her weakness. Their chemistry was off the fucking charts. Explosive. Even though half of the book they both we just fucking around. I really really really did enjoy those scenes. I just LOVEEEED THIS BOOK
Oh em gee, y’all. This book gripped me and refused to let me go.
And the only reason it got put down was because I had to be a responsible adult and go to work.
I was curious about Aiden the moment we met him in the Nobles Savages box set, but I had no clue.
And to be honest, I’m still thinking there’s a lot lurking that we’re unaware of.
Elsa(Ellie, Elsie, Frozen) whatever you want to call her is a unique character, multifaceted, with urges hidden beneath her exterior.
King isn’t hiding. He’s here to take what’s his, destroy whatever’s in his way, and damn the consequences.
From their first meeting, he’s honest about his intentions. I’ll give him that, even if there are definitely more nefarious things happening in the shadows of the plot.
The ending ripped me up and left me bleeding. I was not prepared, at all, and I knew this wasn’t a stand-alone. Still battered over here, and will be until the next book comes out.
Recommendation: This is a reread for sure. I guarantee there’s more than what meets the eye hidden here, and the more you read, the more you’ll discover.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.
This was book was so addicting! I really don’t think that I will ever tire of the high school bully romance trope. I was so impressed with this book. Aiden has absolutely no moral center. The book was aptly titled because deviant just fits him. Some of the things that he did to Elsa had my mouth gaping open. I honestly didn’t know how to feel about his character half of the time and if I am being honest I still don’t know what to truly think of Aiden. For good or bad though, I am definitely interested and intrigued by his character. Aiden and Elsa have a very complicated relationship but their chemistry was undeniable. It was hotter than Hades. Aiden’s interest in Elsa was really obsessive and he was possessive to the extreme. The characters were complex and I also really loved the secondary characters in this book. I am ready to see more of them in other books in the series. The writing was amazing. The flow of the story was perfect. The plot of the story was very riveting. There was a lot of mystery and suspense added in, which I loved. I was on the edge of my seat for the entire book and it felt like a rollercoaster ride. If you enjoy this trope then you should definitely pick this book up. It won’t disappoint you.
This book was truly amazing!
Deviant king is set in Great Britain and the characters are High School students. It mainly focuses on Elsa and Aiden. He is the cruel bully that does everything to hurt Elsa. She is a branded soul, living with her Aunt and the her Uncle, no memory of her parents or her former life. She’s also loyal, a great friend, pretty smart and ambitious.
In senior year Aiden and Elsa get to know each other better and form a kind of relationship. They just hate to love each other
This story was filled with so many emotions, hate, lust and a whole lot of mistery. I didn’t know where this book was going and can only imagine what’s yet to come! But I’m so eager to get my hands on the next books, because this book was so awesome and beautifully written
Can’t wait for Steel princess!!
And if you love a good hate to love story, with a touch of mistery, that is also set in high school – you definitely have to read this book
This is a new author to me and I am loving the world of the royal elite! Dark and steamy for sure.
So much sexual tension!! I have such a love/hate relationship with Aiden and Elsa! This book was everything and left me with such a book hangover that I can’t wait to read the next book! I need to know what happens!
Deviant King is the first book written by Rina Kent I’ve read and I have to say I’ve fallen in love with her writing. Everything she writes intrigues the readers to read more and leaves a huge impact on them.
Deviant King is the story of Aiden and Elsa and is the first book in the Royal Elite Series. Elsa is a new student in the academy and the moment she enters, Aiden hates her. Aiden is loved by everyone in the academy and so when he showcases his hatred for Elsa, everyone in the school automatically hates her. However as the story moves on, things get interesting between the couple and plot twists are revealed.
Since it is a bully romance, this book may not be for everyone however if you love alpha males and college romances than you have found the perfect book. Aiden and Elsa share a steamy, intense, hot chemistry and I honestly couldn’t get enough of this couple.
Aiden’s character is possessive, aggressive, and mysterious all at once. Yet even with his own monsters, his emotions for Elsa seem so pure, there is no way you can’t fall in love with him. Elsa, on the other hand, is independent, strong, and as mysterious as Aiden. When they both come together, everything falls into place. It’s as if they both are the perfect couple, but with the plot twists and Elsa’s traumatic past, they both don’t have a very stable relationship.
Throughout the book, there were times I would get frustrated by Elsa’s actions where she would go against Aiden but I can’t lie those actions made Elsa and Aiden’s relationship so much hotter and steamer. I wouldn’t say that this isn’t your typical bully romance book as the concept is similar however Deviant King is different in its own way and I honestly wouldn’t compare it to any other bully romance novels.
In this book, Rina gives away just the right amount of details that satisfy the readers however at the same time leaves them on a cliffhanger which makes them wanting more.
Other than the romance, the storyline of Deviant King is also unique. The whole mystery behind Elsa’s past makes readers curious about what may her past be and how might she be related to Aiden. This is why I think this is the perfect bully romance novel as it’s got two unique characters with a twisting plot.
The side characters in the book are also so likable. All of Aiden’s friends are alpha males which are so frustrating because you don’t know who to give your heart to. My favorite side characters have to be Xander & Ronan. Xander is your typical bad boy and Ronan is your typical funny, easy-going, playboy. Can’t wait for Steel Princess and Xander and Ronan’s own books. Rina Kent’s books are going to be the death of me.
This book does end with a cliffhanger so if you aren’t a big fan of cliffhangers I suggest waiting for the other 2 books in this series to be published (Steel Princess & Twisted Kingdom) and then start with this one.
Move over Jared Tate and Baron ‘Vicious’ Spencer, there is a new alpha bully in town and he’s wearing a crown – Aiden King!!
Holy hell, that was amazing! I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to jump on Royal Elite train, I could have had Aiden in my life MONTHS ago! *Yes, I know Emily… you threw this book at me when it first came out and I didn’t listen…*
**************
“You always have a choice with me. A queen or a pawn.”
Of course. There’s no in-between with him. “Either I become the most important piece or the most insignificant one. How….. poetic.”
He raises an eyebrow. “You play chess.”
“How do you know that?”
“Those who don’t play think that the king is the most important piece because the game is over when he dies. They don’t know that the king is useless without his queen.”
**************
It’s characters like Aiden as to why the book world has created the OTT J/P Alpha title and right about now he is wearing the crown proudly. I recommend this book to all of my book buddies who love a dark high school bully romance that contains dubious situations.
I have just found my newest favorite author, Rina Kent. Deviant King is book one of the Royal Elite by Kent and it is off the charts. High school bullying rocks the pages of this incredible book along with a secret mystery, friendship, sex and rugby! I could not put this book down and I can NOT wait till the release of Steel Princess which thank God is due out on December 12th. 5-stars for Deviant King by Rina Kent.
Elsa Quinn is determined to go to Cambridge and if going to “THE” Royal Elite School gets her there then she will go. Elsa was warned and then threatened on her first day of school by the Elite and they have made good on tormenting her every day that she’s been there for three years. Aiden King is the actual king of the school and Elsa is his main obsession. It is now senior year and Aiden is doing everything he can to push Elsa into a relationship with him. Elsa begins having the nightmares again and Aiden seems to be one of her triggers, but he also seems to be the only one that keeps the nightmares at bay. Elsa’s nightmares are just flashes of the memories she no longer has, and she can’t decipher them. As truths slowly circle the lies being told to her Elsa isn’t sure she can escape the Deviant King and still come out unscathed.
this was hands down one of my favorite books of 2019, I loved all these characters so much and the whole mystery surrounding the book is so well constructed, there’s not a moment where you can put this down because it’s addictive.
Elsa is such a strong character, I really like her character and I know she has so much potential to brace her darker sides, which I really want to see I want there to be the same level of crazy as Aiden
Aiden is complicated, I didn’t think I was going to love him as much as I do, but we have glimpses about his past and I’m so intrigued about him
in conclusion, I love the plot so much, I love the characters and I can’t wait to know them better in the upcoming books
*4.5*
Twisted, and Intense!!
This is the first book in the Royal Elite series, and the story of Aiden, and Elsa. When Elsa ends up putting herself in Aiden’s cross hairs, she finds herself a pawn in his game of chess. But when they get together the sparks fly, and the chemistry is undeniable. This is a must read, the characters are well written, have explosive chemistry, and captivated me with their story. This book is a whirl wind of twists, and turns, it’s intense, suspenseful, mysterious, dramatic, steamy, and emotional. I look forward to continuing their story in book 2.
Ever since reading Cruel King I couldn’t wait to get my grabby hands on Aiden’s story. I wasn’t disappointed. He was everything I knew he would be and more. Elsa is the ultimate ice queen and you can’t help but like her. As a lover of the bully genre I devoured this book and I am so excited for the next installment of the series. There’s so much potential in this story and I can’t wait to see where the author takes this story.
The book it’s okay. I liked it. I love dark romances and anti-heroes pretty much.
I enjoyed reading about Aiden and his friends. He’s a dark and a hot alpha male. There’s much more than meets the eye. He’s intriguing. However I didn’t like Elsa very much. I don’t know what to make of her. She really seems obsessed with Aiden and talks a lot about him without even knowing him. That’s weird. She’s repetitive and quite annoying and I missed some more plot that just the twisted thoughts of Elsa in the story. She has one track mind and sometimes is tiresome.
The book is not bad but I think it could have been better.
I could not stop reading this ! I’m currently reading Steel Princess and omg just no words right now . I’m sure this one will leave me wanting more just like Deviant King did . Thankfully I have the third book on preorder .
Omg when my girlfriend said you have to read this I knew it was going to he good but mind shattering to where I dont even want to read another book! Just wow I can’t even think straight after what I just read! I should be sleeping right now but all I can think of is Aiden and Elsa! Rina Kent just became an author I will gladly one click!
Elsa is new to RES and all she wants is to just finish her 2 years so she can get into her dream college. But she meets Aiden and that all goes out the window! Elsa is bullied from the very first day she started. But luckily she has Kim and won’t let anything they do affect her. Then Aiden waltz’s in 2 years later and totally turns her world upside down.
Aiden is the King of RES and he can have any girl he wants but when he sets his sights on Elsa it’s game on. She gives him a run for his money but he wasn’t supposed to fall for her. But he’s a king and Kings like to play games so is this just another game to him or has the King meet his Queen?
This ends in a major Cliffy! I’m dying to read Steel Princess to find out what happens with everyone! I loved it and couldn’t put it down!
I loved the book but hate when books end on cliffhangers.
This is my first book by Rina Kent and I have to say this I’ll be binge reading all of her books. If you like a bully romance, I have to say this is one of my favorites. The writing is real and gritty and had me invested in all the characters. It’s rare that I fall in love with the secondary characters as much as I do the main, but Rina sucked me into the Royal Elite world and I never want to leave.
”You could’ve stayed away, Frozen.
But you had to start the war.”
A little cliché on the bullying part, but rocking on the mystery and suspense part! The angst was off the charts. The chemistry was scorching. I loved everything about this book. And that cliff! I need more, I have to know what’s going on.
