The villain isn’t supposed to be king.I have a simple plan.Finish Royal Elite School and get into my dream university. One glance from the school’s king blows my plan up in smoke. One glance and he suffocates my air.One glance and he issues his death sentence. His first words spiral my life into irreparable chaos.“I will destroy you.”Everything about Aiden King is black.Black mind.Black heart.Black … you.”
Everything about Aiden King is black.
Black mind.
Black heart.
Black soul.
I should’ve remained quiet and endured the time I have left.
I didn’t.
I made the irrevocable mistake of provoking the king on his throne.
The devil in his hell.
And now, I’ll pay the price.
Being hated by Aiden King is dangerous.
But being wanted by him is lethal.
Deviant King is book one of Royal Elite Series. This is a dark high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive. Aiden isn’t the normal romance hero. In fact, he’s not a hero at ALL. So please don’t read this if any of that bothers you.
This book is part of a trilogy and is NOT standalone.
The second book, Steel Princess, is available now.more
This book has lived up to every expectation! The characters are legit. The storyline is dark and mysterious. The sex scenes are straight fire. And this cliffhanger… it had me holding my breath. I’m still recovering.
I thought with it being a first-person POV, with only one character’s insight, I would be bored. But I actually love that Aiden’s psyche has been kept in the dark so far. I have no idea what he is going to do!
I enjoyed book one of this trilogy. Kicks off a good love story as well as the intro books to a very entertaining series (The Royal Elites). Elsa & Aiden aren’t conventional, esp Aiden, but it’s an engrossing love story that makes sense. I like this pairing… they have chemistry and Elsa is no pushover for devious conqueror Aiden.
Every book in the series is amazing! Rina Kent does a great job of creating characters that you love to hate. This series is full of twist that you don’t often see coming and overlap in a really great way. I have now read every book by Rina Kent and can’t wait for more from her.
Wow! Rarely does a book consume so that it’s all I can think about. No husband, no kids, no adulting at all. Just.Reading. Deviant King has totally consumed me. The secrets are killing me. The plot is original and fast-paced. I am loving and hating characters. Everything about this book is like Kindle crack to me. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
Woah. I love bully romances and this one is one of the best I’ve ever listened to. I do want to warn you that this is a cliffhanger so be prepared to grab and jump right into the next. Holy cow, this book is going to give me a hangover it was so good. The characters and the drama make it a perfect escape from your everyday life.
This was my first Rina Kent’s book, and definitely won’t be my last. This the first book in the Royal Elite Series, an amazingly Dark High School Bully Romance. You have to listen to the first three books in the series in order. Elsa and Aiden’s story has it all! Drama, passion, secret, mystery, suspense, and intrigue. Elsa is a wonderful character, strong, and resilient. Aiden is dark, ruthless, and possessive. They share an undeniable, and sizzling chemistry. The supporting characters are great and intriguing. The storyline is intricate and captivating. The story ends with a cliffhanger. Shane East and Keira Stevens did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voices together. I highly recommend it! #AudiobookObsession
Deviant King by Rina Kent is a dark high school bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Shane East and Keira Stevens. This is the first book in the Royal Elite series and does end on a cliffhanger.
The book does come with a warning “This is a dark high school bully romance, mature new adult, and contains dubious situations that some listeners might find offensive. Aiden isn’t the normal romance hero. In fact, he’s not a hero at all. So please don’t listen to this if any of that bothers you.”
This is the first book of Rina’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. Rina pulled me in from the very first chapter. Through the whole book I wanted to get into Aiden head! I absolutely loved the pull between Elsa and Aiden. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series Steel Princess to get more of their story.
Shane and Keira did an amazing job on the narration! I absolutely love duet narration it just brings the story to life.
I would highly recommend this book if you love dark romance or bully romance.

Deviant King A Dark High School Bully Romance (Royal Elite, Book 1) draws you in and creates a addictive puzzle brimming with suspense. I couldn’t stop listening and continued listening to book two right away. Something about the writing style that keeps you in tune with the characters and their motivations. Dark moments along with a few creepy ones that give you the chills. Bow down to this deviant king! 5 stars
This was my first book by this author, and she has a new fan now! At the beginning of this book, I was fascinated and captivated! Elsa had a painful past that made me feel for her, plus she was an outsider at school because of Aiden King. Elsa saw something he doesn’t think she should have, and now he won’t leave her alone. Aiden moved on to my list of favorite ant-heroes! He had a darkness inside him that he hides from the outside world, but she saw it and was enthralled by it just like I was. She could not resist him and neither could I. She started to crave him, and I did too. I relished every morsel of information about him just like she did. There was a thread of mystery woven throughout the story about her past (childhood), and I was excited to see where that would go. Where that mystery ending up going shocked me and left my jaw dropped! After that cliffhanger, now I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! I bowed down to this enthralling deviant (Aiden) king and his Elsa, and I highly recommend this book!
Rina Kent is the QUEEN OF BULLY ROMANCE
Holy freakin emotional roller coaster!!
My heart is in pieces and everything inside me has bottomed out. Just when it all felt too good to be true— then, THAT FREAKING HAPPENED!
, . .
Aiden freaking King *a not so sweet litany of unladylike swear words * what-the-ever-loving-son-of-a-devil happened?!!! — I’m so thankful I’m on an all out binge mode because I couldn’t survive this ending.
Elsa, the frozen princess, warmed my heart through right from the start. I fear for all the things she’s yet to uncover and the things that have come to light.
What a truly gripping, heart and soul consuming story. Rina Kent you truly are THE FREAKING QUEEN OF BULLY ROMANCE!!!
** Possible triggers for some readers. Dark themes- not for the faint of heart!
5 DEVIANT BULLY KING CROWNS
Deviant King- the dark bully romance that made me fall in love with the addictive writing of Rina Kent. I LOVE bully romance- one of my favorite tropes out there- and this is one of those deliciously shocking ones that doesn’t back away from the true dark hero- a hero who is so horrible, whose bullying pushes the boundaries of what is “romance” so much so that you think you might need to get some psychological help just to understand why you are so into him and so into this love story. The kind of story where you spend equal parts of the story with your jaw on the floor at the antics happening while your heart is swooning at the same time. Those are the best types of bully romances- when the author lets the bully be dark and disturbing and menacing, and like the heroine- you find yourself conflicted by your own attraction to him. Aiden King is that bully.
Aiden isn’t your run of the mill lightly picks on the girl he likes- no, he’s dark and soulless, manipulative merciless, he has no moral compass and zero remorse, and he’s infatuated with sweet, innocent Elsa. His pursuit of her is both disturbing and delicious- he wants to destroy her just so he can control her, so he can bet the one to put her together again. You know he’s certifiable, but you can’t help but be drawn to him, just like Elsa. The characters have a history, and when Elsa decides to fight back against Aiden’s, the earth’s gravitational pull realigns around these two- these two will forever be in orbit of one another, and this book explores the foundations of their explosive, at times disturbing, but utterly captivating romance. The chemistry is magnetic and totally consuming.
Rina develops both characters by their contrast, as they serve as foils for each other. Aiden is the perfect alpha bully- relentless, possessive, insatiably demanding. His sadistic personality, his darkness is beautifully juxtaposed to Elsa- the bright light, the ice queen. Our traumatized virgin who has suppressed memories because of some childhood trauma. She is strong and resilient, even in the face of Aiden’s torture. If darker, more boundary (and consent) pushing bully is not for you, then you’ll struggle with this one- Aiden does horrible things to Elsa- truly monstrous. Those of us with more debased proclivities when it comes to the bully world will eat it right up- you’ll feel attracted and conflicted, hate Aiden but want him with Elsa, just as she struggles with the same tension.
Deviant King also is establishing the Royal Elite world- we get salivate over the horsemen who seem to share Aiden’s penchant for control and mercilessness in the present and we start to build the history and infrastructure of these characters that we’ll follow over the course of the trilogy- which means we won’t (and shouldn’t) get all the answers in this book. From the prologue that enthralled me from the first page, until the shocking last moment of the cliffhanger, I was enraptured by this twisted, steamy, intense and disturbing story- a story that led me to ravenously consume anything Rina puts out. She’s not scared to go somewhere that makes us uncomfortable, to shed light on dynamics and issues and character traits that aren’t pretty, to create chemistry and relationships that are equal parts toxic as they are romantic. I live for her dark, twisted, angsty stories- and Deviant King is what started it all for me.
I really loved this book but it seems rushed at times. The book started the first day of freshmen year and then skipped all the way to senior year with no real build up. I randomly picked this book so I really had no idea what I started. There’s a lot of mystery which I love and really like that the bullying isn’t so over the top. I’m still completely lost as to what happened between Xander and Kim! Warning this book leaves you with a major cliffhanger.
This was exactly what my bully loving heart needed.
I loved Elsa and I loved Aiden but also wanted to strangle him. The hateful and heated banter was as entertaining as it was hot. There was a lot more going on than the love/hate relationship between them. The other characters already have me obsessed with finding out their stories but first I need answers to Elsa and Aiden.
I’m so happy that I can immediately start book 2 because I need ALL the answers.
Sweet baby Jesus this book was Phenomenal! Let me start with I am a new huge fan of this author, she just continues to steal pieces of me with her characters! Deviant King is book one in Kent’s Royal Elite series, I have previously read the Prequel Cruel King and Fell in love with these characters! I’ve been fantasizing about Aiden since the Prequel, he intrigued me and I just knew I was going to love him! Deviant King blew me away! This book is nothing like the other. There is som much more to these characters and their scars are so deep! Aiden is Everything that is bad for you but you just can’t help yourself! I just knew he was going to destroy me! He’s unapologetic and untouchable. He’s a eludes so much hostility and sex appeal it should be illegal! He’s made Elsa his obsession and everything she thought she knew is about to change! This was was gripping and thrilling! It’s Dark and Brutal, it’s incredibly sexy and will have you craving more! Kent is Queen Mother of Dark, Broody, Deadly and Possessive a33holes, no one makes them quite like she does! You will obsess and quiver! These book Boyfriends will rock your world! Get ready for The Younger King!
Deviant King by Rina Kent is book one in her Royal Elite series and the first of three books surrounding Aiden King and Elsa Quinn. Aiden is the younger (by one year) cousin to Levi King from Cruel King, and is, quite possibly, a complete sociopath. Not sure why I was so completely absorbed in these books, but there you have it – Elsa was Aiden’s obsession and their story is mine.
It is now senior year at RES for the four horsemen, the nickname given to a group of four friends and top soccer players, Aiden King, Xander Knight, Ronan Astor and Cole Nash, are ruling the school. Elsa was targeted her first year there by Aidan, appropriately nicknamed “Frozen” and has spent the last two years doing her best to remain invisible and make it through the days and enjoy her best friend Kimberly. Senior year is here and then she is off to Cambridge and away from all these jerks. But that is where she is wrong. Something happens to pull Aidens attention towards her and she isn’t happy about it. But when family secrets, missing memories, lost time and a heart condition literally put her life at risk, Aiden is the surprising hero, albeit seemingly reluctantly. But he has his own darkness that he is dealing with.
Ends of a cliffhanger – Book two, Steel Princess is already available, is also told from Elsa’s POV throughout book one.
Some of the author’s turns of phrase felt off to me and this has continued throughout the series. I don’t know if there is a language or regional barrier where these are correct, and that was somewhat off-putting at times, enough that I feel the need to mention it, but not enough that I would rate the book lower. This hit all the buttons on taboo and dark for me and I absolutely devoured this book and this series. Enjoy!
“I don’t have enough words to express how much I loved this story! I’m absolutely impressed by this amazing dark bully story. The characters were mind blowing in the most magnificent way. The writing and the development were outstanding!
Aiden and Elsa will blow your mind in this high school bullying story. Dominance, secrets, lies and steamy scenes made this story simply perfect! I can’t wait to continue the story!! Shane East and Keira Stevens did an outstanding job! The performance, the tone and their voices were something exceptional and everything felt so real. I’m amazed and impressed. Just wow!!!
I’m warning you, prepare yourself for this dark and intense story that you won’t stop until you hear the last word.”
Audiobook Review –
I’ve wanted to jump into the Royal Elite world since I first heard about it last year. As soon as I found out about this audiobook I couldn’t wait for it to be released!
I had to start listening to it right away. This first book pulled me in and I was hooked by this dark journey.
This was my first time listening to both Shane East and Keira Stevens. I loved their narration!
*I volunteered to listen and review a copy of this audiobook from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
I wasn’t a fan of the idea of a bully romance -so much so that this is my first time listening to one- but now I get it! I understand now why so many people enjoy bully romances; or maybe it’s Rina Kent’s amazing writing that made me enjoy it?
Aiden and Elsa’s story is dark, angsty, and intriguing. I will definitely be relistening to this one before listening to Steel Princess when comes out!
Keira Stevens and Shane East were wonderful as Elsa and Aiden. Shane East is one of my favorite narrators and is the reason why I wanted to listen to this audiobook in the first place!
Deviant King is a dark, high school bully romance written in first-person POV and recorded in duet narration. It’s the first book in a trilogy and ends with a cliffhanger. No cheating.
I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
I recieved an advance copy of the audiobook for review. I volunteered to leave an honest review.
I really adore Rina Kent’s writing and she does bully stories like no one else. The story sucked me in and so did the side characters. The plot had a lot of twists and holes which I’m sure will be filled in book two.
As far as Elsa and Aiden goes, I’m hungry for more of their story. I wish I got more of Aiden’s POV and cross my fingers that books two and three give me that.
This ends in a cliffhanger so make sure you have book two lined up and ready.
Shane East and Keira Stevens really brought both characters to live in this duel narration audio.
Brilliant Story & Narration Intense & Mesmerizing!
Deviant King A Dark High School Bully Romance (Royal Elite, Book 1)
By: Rina Kent
Narrated by: Shane East, Keira Stevens
Wow, this is one addictive and captivating story, it grabbed my attention right from the start and held hostage straight to the end, heck who am I kidding it is still holding my brain hostage because I need to know what happens next after that mind-blowing ending. This is my first book written by Rina Kent and it will not be my last, she has a great writing style, a creative mind and ability to bring her readers and/or listeners into the story she created, right alongside the characters, allowing you to see what they see and feel what they feel. The characters are complex and well developed. It is Elsa Quinn’s first year in the Royal Elite School aka RES, her goal is getting into Cambridge, she just needs to get thru the next three years first. Her first day at RES was not the best, she was given dirty looks and one guy caught her eye, they were both lost in each other for a moment before he goes to her to tell her that he is going to destroy her. That was Aiden King, one of the most popular boys in the school, a star football player and the son of an Elite. Luckily she makes a friend, another outcast named Kimberly. Aiden torments her for her first two years but changes his tune in her last year, not only playing nice but being protective of her. I really liked Elsa, there is a lot of mystery to her and her life, they are even a mystery to her. Since Aiden is the head bully in this book you can not say he is likable, he comes off as one sick and demented individual at times other times I just don’t know what to think or what makes him tick, so a good word to describe him is intriguing. And I can not wait to learn more about each. I loved how everything plays out in this book, everything is plotted out nicely and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, some mystery, thrilling psychological suspense, as well as heartfelt moments and some hot romance. Rina Kent, thank you for this amazing book and for perfectly casting the narrators to bring you story to life. I am looking forward to what comes next in “Steel Princess”, I hope it comes to Audible soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Shane East and Kiera Stevens are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice, personality and attitude. They captured the characters persona perfectly, Shane’s Aiden was darn scary at times, Keira’s Elsa was great too. The emotions of the characters as well as the drama and intensity of the story was reflected in their performance which enhanced truly enhanced the story even more. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
