great story but lacks romantic heat!
This book was as good as the first in the series. I still wanted more romance and intimacy from the two main characters. The few love scenes were pretty much glossed over with hardly a word about it even though they held back for a book and a half and didn’t do the deed until a few nights before the wedding.
Aside from the lack of romance, Aurora and Kai are mates and love each other, so they fight for each other throughout the book. The story continues on where the first book ended. The Vampires want to use Aurora to bring them fertility because she is the Matefinder. It just takes a bit of her blood, but she is infertile until after the mating ceremony so she is still reluctant to set a date.
Also there is a covert government organization which has been watching the supernaturals for year and they don’t want the mating ceremony to take place. Vampires are already killing humans at alarming rates and when the pack finds out why, it becomes even more important to have a war between the wolves and the vampires. They have to do it to make sure the vampires don’t get to Aurora but also to protect humans.
The story is good and like the first book, there is a lot of action and a lot of different supporting characters. Despite the lack of steam in the book, I really liked the story and especially the powers that some of these wolves have.
Devi is book two is Leia Stone’s Matefinder series. This book has so much going on in it. Allies become enemies, unexpected allies are made. I did really enjoy this book, the characters main and secondary are fantastic, makes me want to be apart of the pack. Make sure have tissues on standby and you will need them.
After agreeing to still go ahead with marrying Kai, Aurora makes the decision to learn all she can do with her witch self, even going on a drug induced walk about with Nahuel, to communicate with the Devin spirit.
I still wanted more romance and intimacy between Kai and Aurora. The few scenes were pretty much skipped over with hardly a word about it, they are mated werewolf adults but there was no steamy scenes.
Kai is trying his best to keep his mate safe as well as the rest of the Werewolves and humans, and it may cost him dearly. Aurora has a purpose to restore balance between light and dark, but she is in constant battle with herself.
The Vampires want to use Aurora to mate them fertile, they just need bit of her blood, but she is infertile which makes her blood infertile and useless until after the mating ceremony.
After Book 1, I was pretty invested in the story and characters that I was eager to continue to see where she would take this story. The characters are easily likeable, and her take on werewolves is intriguing, but there just started to be so many gaps in timelines and concepts that it made me withdraw from the series. I understand that some smaller things can slip your mind, but it started taking away from my interest in the story. There is almost too much action, and I’m starting to see a trend that Stone has a flare for the dramatic, and chooses difficult roads that her main characters don’t choose; the villains instead take advantage and ambush them to see how the main characters will scramble to get out of it. I’m starting to wish something would start to go right for the main characters so that they would seem stronger, smarter; etc. I’m rooting for some other strength they find in themselves rather than grit. I really wish I could have enjoyed it more than I did, but I’ll be honest; I wasn’t sure I would finish the series after finishing the second book.
I have a little bit of whiplash from the beginning of this series. I kinda felt like I was sprinting through the first few chapters. The storyline was rushed to start but then it levels out. Leia created a lovely storyline and the more you the better it gets and that goes for the writing also.
Everything evolved and starting flowing easily after a rough start. The characters were unique and I it was interesting to get to know each and every one. Aurora was incredible and I enjoyed reading about her journey. Stone did a wonderful job building her up throughout the books.
Tension, Romance & War??
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Poor Aurora finds out she’s even more unique & special than they all already knew!! The Vampires want her, specifically Queen Layla. She has plans for her special blood
There are some big shocks in store throughout this book. War could also be on the horizon!!
