Set after Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me and before Unravel Me, Destroy Me is a novella told from the perspective of Warner, the ruthless leader of Sector 45. Even though Juliette shot him in order to escape, Warner can’t stop thinking about her—and he’ll do anything to get her back. But when the Supreme Commander of The Reestablishment arrives, he has much different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner … different plans for Juliette. Plans Warner cannot allow.
The Shatter Me series is perfect for fans who crave action-packed young adult novels with tantalizing romance like Divergent and The Hunger Games. This captivating story, which combines the best of dystopian and paranormal, was praised as “a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love” by Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
Don’t miss Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series!

Destroy Me is a strong novella written from the perspective of Warner. You get a completely different side of him that, I wasn’t expecting. He surprised me and made me care about him. I think it could be better if it didn’t rehash so much of what is in the main series. I definitely suggest reading this before reading Unravel Me.

Genre: Dystopian + Young Adult
This is a companion novella in the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi. The events in this short story take place right after where Shatter Me ended. The story is told from Warner’s perspective, the leader of Sector 45.
The story itself does not have much going for it when it comes to events. This is more focused on character building and understanding the villain’s point of view. I think the author wants the reader to have some kind of compassion for Warner and that is successfully achieved. After reading this novella one can understand that Warner is not much different from Juliette. Both had families that did not give them much love or probably hated them. Warner reading Juliette’s diary felt even closer to her as they both had the same experience. The story is more focused on character development than anything else like events or world-building. I have not read book two yet so don’t know if this is a must-read before reading that one or not but all I can say is that you will definitely look at Warner differently once you finish reading Destroy Me.
Redeemable
I really didn’t like Warner after reading book 1 . He seemed evil but After reading this book I feel hopeful that he’s redeemable and that he will find his courage and stand up to his dad for the right reasons at some point !
He’s a lost tortured soul that needs someone to love him . This was such a great insightful addition to the series and I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes next !!!
I will never not get enough of Warner!
Warner!!!!
I enjoyed this novella about the villain/antagonist Warner, and it was fascinating delving into his motivations and emotions in scenes that happened after Juliette left him. With a brutal father like he has, I felt rather sorry for him. (I was like, can’t he just SHOOT him or something? but the father had guards, and only was cruel without guards when Warner was incapacitated and couldn’t fight back…not that Warner probably would’ve, at least at that point.) I really liked the dog scene, but with Warner’s obsession with being impeccably clean in his grooming and dress, would he really have put a sticky Danish in his pocket? Maybe he’s just ready to snap and is starting to do things differently. Anyway, the novella was interesting.
This novella focuses on the events that happens during and after the first book and we follow Warner’s perspective. If you’ve read my Shatter Me review, you know that I did not like Warner at all so I was kinda nervous going into the novella that focuses on him. But I did it and I am pleased what I’ve read.
We get to know more about him and what has he gone and suffered through, and I actually kind of feel bad for him but at the same time, I’m not sure I forgive him for what he has done in the first book. But I’m very interested in seeing what happens next.
3 solid stars this novella gets from me.
its good
ONE OF THE BEST
I haven’t read it, but I am working on buying it. But I have read Unravel Me, and am working on Shatter Me. In Unravel Me, Warner was an intruiging character, and I would LOVE to see how things are in his eyes!!Unravel Me
3.5 Stars
It was an OK read. Nothing more. I didn’t like Warner in ‘Shatter Me’ but I understand him better now. It’s not like I love him, but I can imagine how his childhood formed him to the man he now is.
