The only thing I wish had been more drawn out was the time the 2 main characters spent apart near the end. I won’t say too much because I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the last few chapters felt a little too rushed when there could have been more build up and tension added to the story. All in all, a great read for a rainy day. I’ll be picking up more to see what happens with some of the other hockey team members.
A forbidden love story with so much more. This book is great and will keep you entertained through the whole thing. I really liked the narration as well.
Wow! What a book.
Terrific characters, good storyline, creative writing … and those chapter titles!
Loved Aubrey and Brent! Their first meeting was a hoot … and the ones after that were even more funny. The storyline was really solid … Aubrey’s job, Brent’s challenges …. all chronicled in such a well written story with terrific chapter titles. You could read just those and it would make you laugh
And amid all of that fun … wait F.U.N. is a solid romance. The author has written really good chemistry between Aubrey and Brent and their chemistry leaps off the pages.
If you like sports romances … wait! If you like romances in general with an interesting plot and witty writing, you’ll want to put Destiny on Ice on your TBR … better download it now. And I’m super happy it’s the start of a series!
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.S.R. Grey
Hot sexy superstar hockey player Brent Oliver has it all as far as looks and charm go but he has lost his hockey mojo and nothing seems to be working for him.
Aubrey Shelburne is a life coach and she is used to dealing with celebrities who are full of themselves but she has never worked with anyone quite like Brent.
Aubrey gets dragged along to a party by her sister and she wakes up hungover, pantie less and in a hunks bed little does she know that hunk is Brent Oliver her new client.
What transpires from that moment on is an hilarious, laugh out loud rom com. I could not put this book down and I hope we get more in the Boys of Winter Series. I’m not going to give too much away you need to read this book to find out what happens with a glow in the dark Area 51 vibrator…..
Fantastic, funny read that left me wanting more from this author
I’m someone who loves sports romance, especially when it’s involving hockey players (some irrelevant personal history here), and I’m also a fan of a good romantic comedy. Lately I’ve really been getting into S.R. Grey’s books, as this is one author who excels at both. Destiny on Ice Is a perfect example of that. The chemistry (not just physical, though that’s perfectly yummy) between the leads here, Aubrey and Brent, is just so perfectly done that it really puts this book above the pack. I’m so very much looking forward to book 2, and this one is an easy recommendation.
This was a great sports romance/romantic comedy. The story was well written and the characters were well developed and relatable.
Brent Oliver is a hockey superstar “Golden Boy” who has lost his mojo. He also is partying way too much and spending too much time with puck bunnies. The team management has enough of his bad behavior and hires life coach to the stars Aubrey Shelburne to get him back on track. They initially get along like oil and water bickering constantly. But their wild attraction to each other soon changes that. They resist temptation as long as they can but give in and start a secret relationship. Brent messes up and almost costs them their future together but they are able to work through their issues and get their HEA.
I received an ARC for this book. Brent is the star of his hockey team but due to drinking and women his play and that of two of his friends is below par. The team decides to hire a “life coach” to help him leave his habits and turn his play around. They meet(in Minnesota where he lives off season) at the last party Brent has and they are both drunk. They argue and each leave to go their separate ways. Later that day, they meet in Vegas at the team headquarters. It is required that she move into his house. She gets him on the right track and her contract is extended. During this time, they decide to give into the chemistry between them. What will happen when the team decides to release her from her contract? She had signed an addendum to the contract stating that she would have no contact with the team members once she leaves. She moves back to her home. Will they be able to have a relationship? I enjoyed the story and would recommend it to all readers over 18.
Four and a Half Stars
So this happened, my first book by S.R. Grey and it will not be my last. I absolutely loved it but then again, you can’t go wrong with a Hockey Romance read – they are all that and a side of chocolate. In this book we meet hockey bad boy Brent. Cocky beyond belief, looks to kill, sexy as sin. But after hitting a rough patch he’s forced to rethink his attitude when the team owners force a life coach on him. Aubrey is a strong, sexy, independent woman. Her job consumes her and rules her life. Her latest assignment is hockey’s golden boy, Brent. These two get off on the wrong foot and they love to hate each other, until they don’t. As with all good enemies to lover’s stories these two burn for each other. Their road to happily ever after is a sweet albeit slightly tortured journey but an ever so good one, TBR this great book and enjoy.
Audio Review: Destiny on Ice (Boys of Winter #1) by: S.R. Grey (author) Tracy Marks (narrator)
Grey takes a little dirty, a long way and the result is purely delicious. Destiny on Ice takes emotions on a rush. Brent and Aubrey gives hearts a workout with an attraction as tempting as it is unpredictable. Marks gives readers more than they could ever have dreamed with her all in approach to narration. From the awkward silences to the steamy battles, Tracy Marks scores major points at ever turn. (Audiobook Obsession Reviewer)
This book was exactly what I needed while nursing this cold from Haiti that just won’t go away! God Almighty I had a great time reading! **HUGE SMILE**
So, the drunken one night stand you thought you’d never see again … until you do! 🙂 (can you feel how hilarious and fun this book is just from that? YOU SHOULD) I knew I would love Brent & Aubrey’s journey the moment I started reading their first meet 😉 Good times people, GOOD TIMES! The chemistry between these two was ridiculous! And the banter … #perfection.
S.R. Grey continues to stay on my radar because her work hits the mark every time. This was a fun, flirty, sexy, non-angsty read full of emotion and laughter and heart. Excellent afternoon read for everyone!
Audiobook Review:
Destiny on Ice (Boys of Winter Book 1) is a sports romance/romantic comedy with a fun twist. I actually started listening to this series at book five so I already met Brent & Aubrey and fell in love with them already. But, now I got to go back to the beginning and see how they first met. Brent Oliver & Aubrey Shelburne begin with cute banter. A enemies to lovers with a forbidden romance aspect entangled within the pages. Author S. R. Grey writes fun, humorous, tales with a sports romance aspect, the writing style is light and entertaining. I absolutely loved the reference to area 51, clever and hilarious. Supporting character’s accentuated the narrative. I adored the characters and narrative. I’m looking forward to listening to book two which is supporting character Nolan and Aubrey’s sister Lainey.
Narator Tracy Marks just didn’t fit the characters in this performance in my opinion. I’ve listened to her naration before, and enjoyed it very much. The vibes I get from her are she fits better with suspenseful/serious listens rather than comedic ones. Her accent is all Eastern New England English which is famous for non-rhoticity, meaning it drops the r sound everywhere except before a vowel and it just didn’t fit the narrative in my opinion.
Overall a cheering listen.

Destiny on Ice
Boys of Winter Book 1
By: S. R. Grey
Narrated by: Tracy Marks
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it has interesting storylines that are both fun and heartfelt. S.R. Grey has a wonderful writing style, she hooks you right in to the story grabbing your attention and holding it to the end. Her characters are likable and well developed, she keeps them real and they are ones you can relate to. Star hockey player Brent Oliver winning streak is over and he’s having a hard time getting it back. He is a party animal and player off the ice and his life is spiraling out of control. Team management sees this as a bad reflection on the team so they do an intervention and hire him a life coach. Aubrey Shelburne is that life coach, she has worked with the most difficult celebrities in the past. Confidentiality is a key part of her job so she does not know who she will be coaching until she meets them in person. When she meets Brent she is taken about, the two of them have already met and not in the best of circumstances. I just loved how these two met, the situation was hysterical as was the way they clashed. Brent being a good sport goes with it and does not out her. I loved these two together, she is great at her job and he starts to get his act together. She vows to keep the relationship professional but it gets harder and harder for them to deny the chemistry. Aubrey and Brent’s story is a great one, there is plenty of drama, angst, some humor and a start to to a wonderful romance. S.R. Grey thank you for another great story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride. The number 51 takes on a whole new meaning now, LOL!
I listened to the Audible edition, Tracy Marks is a fabulous narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. She sets the perfect tone for the story and you can hear how much heart she puts in to her performance as she projects the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen

Sports romances are my favorite genre, especially Hockey, so at this point I tend to be a little more critical. This one was so good!!!! So many sports romance don’t have much of the game in it, but this one did and that was the best part for me! They do such a good job of really incorporating the sport into the story, it’s so refreshing <3
Now, the characters! Brent and Aubrey are so adorable! They have the perfect hate/love relationship and the taboo-ness of it is so enticing. You can't help to see what might happen next! The heat that these two create when they are trying to stay away from each other was so intoxicating. And when they finally did my heart sighed.
I CANNOT WAIT to see what SR Grey comes up with next!!! This was so artfully written, there were a few plot twists that were so good and the chemistry between all of the characters was so good!!
I loved the humor in this book! I also liked the chemistry between Brent and Aubrey. At the start of the book, I didn’t much care for Brent. But I think that was done to show his character before Aubrey came into his life. There were a few actions in the book that took me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting them.
This was my first book by this author and I will definitely continue the series.
I absolutely loved Aubrey and Brent’s story. The writing of this book was light and easy which was perfect for this kind of story. I enjoyed reading about the development between Aubrey and Brent while the secondary characters gave their story more life. It was a fun read for me despite me not being a funny person at all. Life coach Aubrey had a lot of work to do with panty stealer Brent Oliver. This story really cracked me up at some parts and had me swooning at others.
The Story:
Aubrey is not one to party hard but to focus on her job though there isn’t much life she can have anyway because her work acquires her full attention and a lot of time. Before she starts her next assignment Aubrey visits her sister and when a drinking night ends with her drunk in bed with a stranger, she wouldn’t have imagined him turning out to be her client. When coaching gorgeous hot, cocky hockey god Brent Oliver while living in the same house and spending a lot of time together, Aubrey and Brent cannot ignore the growing sexual attention between them but the thing is, Aubrey’s contract strictly forbids her to date a client. What are they going to do now? Can they keep their hands from each other or are they going to surrender to their feelings? And what consequences will there be for Aubrey?
Thoughts:
The story started out with Brent being a careless prick partying hard without a care in the world and of course with lots of puck bunnies. Meanwhile Aubrey tried to explain to her sister that she can’t talk about her clients, isn’t allowed to get involved with one or even share any details. This didn’t help in getting to like the characters but I loved them from the moment when they met each other. The story had a lot of funny moments and I loved that Aubrey and Brent really liked to rile each other up and you could almost feel the growing sexual tension.
I didn’t fully understand why Brent got a life coach when he obviously did whatever he wanted anyway. It seemed to me that Aubrey only had a positive effect on him because they got to like each other. I believe that he wouldn’t have changed one bit if no feelings were involved. That’s at least what I thought when he was from the start on good behavior though went wild anyway at a point during her watch.
Closer to the end I felt the story a bit rushed to bring the reader the best closure. If you like that kind of ending, good for you. I just thought it was a tad bit too much within a few pages though I can’t say that I didn’t like to read it because it was still really lovely.
Anyway, I love reading sports romances and I love hockey the most because it’s the only sport I actually enjoy watching. This was one of the reasons why I had to read this story and I did not get disappointed even though this was a new author for me and I didn’t know what to expect. I will definitely check out more of her work and I am excited for her next book in this series. Bring it on Nolan =)
I love hockey romances and this one was good!
Hot and choke-on-your-food funny!’
This book is choke-on-your-food funny, and should seriously come with a warning: ‘The consumption of food or beverages during the reading of this book may be hazardous to your health.’ With chapter headings like “I Hate Him, but My Hooha Disagrees” how could it ever be possible to eat and read at the same time!
In Destiny On Ice, Brent Oliver once believed he was a hockey god, until he found out he had feet of clay. After a summer of extreme partying and playing with puck bunnies, Team Management and his agent have had enough of his drinking and whoring, and he’d best clean up his act – or risk losing not only his place on the team, but endorsement deals as well. They’ve hired him a life coach.
It’s been a year since Aubrey Shelburne last went out on a date. She’s the epitome of the driven career girl type and gives herself no down time, until she stops in to see her sister on the way to her next assignment in Vegas. Going with her sister to a party, she decides to let loose and finds herself lost in the house, after assuring her sister she was going home. Luckily for her, she’s found a nice comfortable bed to fall into. Not so lucky next morning, she finds it occupied by the most ignorant egotistical and rude ‘panty-stealer’ that she’s ever come across in her life! After angrily blowing him off, she carries onto Vegas to meet her new client, who up till now, has been kept under wraps. Unfortunately for her, it’s the rude, hot and sexy ‘panty-stealer’, and he’s smirking like a boss.
This book is a must read for lovers of hot n’ spicy reads, and comedy or sports romances. The descriptions are hilarious, the prose is witty, and the dual POV is carried off especially well, as though it is the Brent, the hockey horndog himself narrating his part. Spot on with the accuracy S R Grey! I am thankful for have won an e-book copy from you. 4.5 Stars
I was really conflicted on how to rate this book because its not that I didn’t enjoy it, but I felt that not enough was going on for me to truly love this book. It started off really good, although Brent was wayy off the rails with his drinking, partying, and manwhoring. But Aubrey getting hired to be his life coach was interesting after reading about their first encounter together. Aubrey whipped Brent back into shape very quick. The next thing you know their dating.
Its obvious there’s some sexual tension between Aubrey and Brent, and some of their interactions are all too funny. But she’s supposed to be his life coach and her professional relationship with him quickly went out the window and they started dating. I felt that was the gist of the book. I did like it although no way in hell is it hot in December in Las Vegas, its cold as hell.
Don’t let my 3 stars discourage I did enjoy this book, I was just looking for more and something different in this sports romance. This is my first read by this author and I love her writing. I am even more excited to read the next book about Brent’s teammate Nolan.
