This was a fast enjoyable read that can be read in one sitting. The characters were engaging. I thought it was a sweet story. I loved Nash and his little boy Max. I will be honest Nash’s occupation convinced me to read this one. Plus I fell in love with the cover. I loved Nash’s big Italian family. Farrah captured my heart because being the only family she has just broke me heart, but one event changes her life course. I couldn’t have picked anyone better than Nash and Max. I would definitely recommend this one f you’re looking for a sweet nice feel good story.
Nash is the ultimate man. He’s a vet, has a son who he adores, knows his way around a woman and very easy on the eyes. But he’s not in any hurry in finding a woman or bringing one around his son. That all changes as soon as he lays eyes on Farrah crying in his waiting room and something twitches. He can’t stop himself. Farrah has not had a life of her own for the last 6 years with caring for ailing parents. So she’s in a hurry out of St. Helena and to start her new life. But just can she leave with this amazing man wanting her to stay?
Farrah meets Dr. Nash when she accidentally hits a dog. Both feel some instant attraction. That could be perfect. Nash isn’t looking for a relationship, his priority is his son. Farrah is leaving town to take a job but thinks a little adventure might be just what she needs after so many years of caring for her ailing parents. Can they both walk away in a few weeks and not have their hearts broken?
I have read a few Leslie Pike books and really enjoy her work. Destiny Laughs is a sweet, fun read. I especially loved Fluffy. Looking forward to formally meeting the rest of the Santini’s.
Destiny Laughs Santini #1 is Heartwarming.
Nash Santini is the local hunky veterinarian who is also a Single father of a adorable nine year old, named Max. The minute Farrah walks into his veterinary clinic he knows she’s someone worth pursuing.
After the death of her father, Farrah decides it time for a change. What better way than to move and start a new adventure somewhere else. That’s the plan until Destiny steps in. She meets Max and Nash, and suddenly things don’t seem so clear anymore.
I enjoyed the family first dynamic of this story. I loved how it showcases that life’s hard and it sucks sometimes, but it gets better. This story and all it’s characters felt so real.
A definite five star start to this series.
I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
The start of a series that I couldn’t put down. I loved it so much!
Nash meets Farrah after an unfortunate accident. And Nash being the only vet in town, that’s where she goes. Nash is so caught up with her, that he just asks her out for dinner.
Nash is a single father, a widow, and he has Max to think about it. How will he make this work to see Farrah and be with Max?
Farrah hasn’t been outside the house for the last 6 years cause she stopped her life to take care of her parents. Now Nash has come into the picture.
Farrah needs to leave St. Helena’s to try to get her life back, but what will do? Where will she go? Does the job she has lined up what she thought it was?
I love how it all plays out, and this has to do with Leslie being an amazing author. I love her stories!!!!! They’re so great.
Some of my fave quotes from the book:
1. And then there’s that Roman candle waiting to go off in my pants. – Oh Nash LOL!!!!!
What a fun and sweet novella! You really can’t help but fall in love with Nash, Farrah, and Max. The back and forth banter between Nash and Farrah was both sexy and hilarious and I especially enjoyed Nash’s inner monologue. I felt the author really captured the male point of view perfectly. There was chemistry galore between our hero and heroine, but what really shined for me was the relationship between Farrah and Max. Their friendship started off so emotionally, but as the story progressed, their interactions only became more adorable and touching. A romantic relationship is tricky enough on it’s own, but throw a child into the mix and there are a whole slew of other things to consider. I liked that all the relationships felt natural and real in this novella. Yes, there is an instant attraction between Nash and Farrah, but I enjoyed the slow burn as our characters got to know each other. The epilogue was romantic perfection and I really enjoyed Nash, Farrah, and Max’s story.
Destiny Laughs is part of Marina Adair’s St Helena Vineyard kindle world and is book one in The Santini Series. It can be read as a standalone.

Nash and Farrah find that the best made plans are pure folly in the face of pure fate. Nash is devoted to providing a stable happy and healthy life for his whole world Max. Being a widower in as the small town vet kind of makes him prime pickings but he quite frankly isn’t really interested in anything like that until destiny gives him a little push. Farrah has spent years looking after her ailing folks but now it’s time for her new beginning. She’s starting over with a new job and a new city and it seems that destiny has a trick or two up her sleeve where she is concerned. There’s no escaping the magnetisms and pull of what’s meant to be.

What a refreshing storyline. The author has done a wonderful job in bring us a tender heartfelt story about finding Love a little later in life. The characters are so warm and endearing that you can’t help but live them and feel all the emotions they do (and that includes the dogs and a stuffed bear) as you you read along.
Farrah has spent the last 6 years taking care of her ailing parents. It’s now time to live for herself. She puts her parents home on the market (a home she can’t afford on her own) and is moving to Seattle where her new job awaits. What she doesn’t count on is meeting Nash, the town’s new Veterinarian. Her thought: Maybe they could become friends with benefits for a few months!!
Nash is a widower whose sole purpose is his raising his 9 year old son, Max. He doesn’t date because he doesn’t want to bring a string of women into his sons young life. What he doesn’t count on is meeting Farrah. His thought: Maybe they could be friends with benefits since she is leaving in a few months!!
Their friendship is a whirlwind of family events, romantic times, and literally just enjoying life. But what happens when her house sales early and their time together comes to an end? Does fate have other plans for them or is there Destiny miles apart? I highly recommend grabbing up this heartfelt story. You won’t regret it.
2 Thumbs Up!
As far as novellas go, I’m not a big fan. If it’s intended to catch us up on characters from a previous book, I enjoy them, but to introduce us to new characters? Nah, I’d much prefer a full novel. Destiny Laughs, though? It far surpasses my expectations!
It takes us on a journey of Nash and Farrah, as well as Nash’s 9 year old son, Max, and their coupling, which happens to coincide with Farrah moving away to Seattle. Experiencing their brief- yet intense- relationship was exhilarating. Despite the quickness that things progressed, I didn’t feel gypped; I felt completely satisfied. I even cried!
As a part of the St. Helena Vineyard Kindle World, you do not need to have read anything previously. But I have to say, I so wish that Santini’s Deli was real- the description was so real that I really felt like I was in an Italian Market (and as an Italian, my mouth was watering and I will have to visit my Italian market tomorrow)!
I highly recommend!
Loved this book! I want my own Nash. Max was the cutest kid, wise beyond his years. I read this as a standalone but will have to definitely read the other books in the series.
This story was absolutely wonderful! Farrah, Nash and Max stole my heart, especially Max. I think he’s much smarter than his age and knows what is best for dad. Reading these types of stories makes me want to move to a small town and find someone to start over with. Can’t wait to read Destiny Plays next!
4 Stars
Destiny Laughs is the first title in the Santini series, a novella length read featuring a endearing set of characters, widowed, single father Nash and his love interest Farrah.
Nash is a sweet, sexy, single father intent on putting all his focus into raising his son. He puts relationship on the back burner until he meets Farrah, what results is a sweet, fun, emotional story full of heat, heart and steam.
The chemistry and connection is undeniable and quite intense despite their relationship being quite brief. I adored the budding friendship between Farrah and Nash’s young son Max.
With banter that is fun, flirty and at times quite humorous, this may have been my first time reading Leslie Pike, but it will not be my last.
4.5*
I’m a sap- I’m just going to put that out there right now. (Contrary to what some people might think after one of my other reviews this week!) This novella is so sweet, I was crying at the end. Destiny Laughs is a definite case of insta-lust/love, but so well done, so believable, so engaging, I was completely on board! Nash and Farrah belonged together. They deserved each other. They were meant to be.
Nash is a sweet, sexy, swoony single dad who really hasn’t been looking for anything permanent with a woman- content with his flings, unwilling to get deeper involved because of his son. That is, until Farrah comes along and makes him want something more. Farrah’s life has been on hold the past 7 years as she cared for her parents, but now she’s ready to move on and her plans definitely don’t include staying in St. Helena and falling for the hot single dad. But like the title says, sometimes destiny laughs…right in your face!
Fun, emotional, and full of heart, Destiny Laughs is a quick read that left me with a smile on my face, even as the tears were streaming down!
Absolutely LOVED this novella!!! While I didn’t read the original series it’s a spin off of, you don’t really need to. I loved all of the characters! I hope to see more in from them in the future!!! Great job Leslie!!!
I ‘ll have to say I was thinking I had to read the original series to dive into to the “kindle world”. I was pleased to read this story and love it! In fact, I wish it were a full novel.
Leslie does a stellar job of pulling you in with this story about Nash, The town Vet along with his son Max and then they meet Farrah. See where Destiny takes them.
