Terrified of becoming mated like her parents, Isabelle has locked herself away in order to avoid their fate. She is content to stay sheltered amongst her family, hidden away as she lives out her days away from the human race, and the world. Despite her … the human race, and the world. Despite her determination to remain alone, her world is rocked when a person from her parent’s past arrives at their door, bringing with them the powerful, and stunning vampire Stefan. Though Stefan is not expecting to arrive at a nest full of vampires, he is immediately drawn to the vibrant, often defiant, and willful Isabelle. To his surprise, Isabelle does everything in her power to avoid him, and her desire for him. No matter how hard she tries to fight it though, Isabelle begins to realize that trying to deny her destiny may just destroy them both, as there are some things that cannot be stopped. But just as she begins to let her guard down, Stefan’s dark and deadly past catches up to him and threatens to destroy them both.

struggled over my rating. It’s more 3.5 stars. From the very beginning, I fell completely in love with the Byrne family. The author created such a warm, devoted and loving family. Even the environment made me fall in love with this series even more. The reason I couldn’t give this 5 stars was the main characters, Stefan and Isabelle. They had some good qualities but for the most part, I stayed utterly aggravated with them. Isabelle was so insecure in some ways, judgmental, infuriating and couldn’t stop fighting her feelings no matter what. I wanted to slap some sense into her. Then, we have Stefan, who is a very dominating and sexual man. He spends way too much time trying to force Isabelle to bow down to his commands. They spend 85% of the book fighting each other and what they each secretly wanted but was terrified to have. I’m glad they found their HEA but I was anxious to be done reading it so I can move on to another member of the family that is hopefully not so stubborn or too alpha.
Vampires finding their soulmate, love, happiness, and meaning. Stephen is gentle, firm, charming, sexy, and just perfect for Issy. Issy has been guarding her heart all her life. Stephen awakens feelings she doesn’t understand and tries to fight. I love her spirit and fearlessness.
Stephen is a lovable, charismatic badass. He is instantly attracted to Issy. There is something about her that makes him feel things he does not want to feel. She makes him crazy. Their interaction was too funny, and I never knew what to expect from them. Their love is charming and deeply touching!
An incredible story is full of amazing loveable characters.
The beautiful bonds that keep this family are something I wish for in real life. One of my favorites go-to reads. I highly recommend this story.
The second book of the series is many many years later in Sera’s and Liam’s lives. They have ten children and are still very happy. Isabelle is the second born. She stayed home more and only went to high school with humans. The others are going to college or getting ready too. One of Sera’s oldest friends and her daughters are coming for a visit. Isabelle wants nothing to do with fated mates. She wants to be independent and live her secluded life in happiness. Jess, one of the visitors brings Stefan with her, her boyfriend…but he is also vampire! Him and Isabelle feel lust and other things for one another they cannot keep ignoring. Even though is stirs trouble with the visitors, they cannot resist each other! Stefan breaks it off with Jess, but not without repercussions! Stefan, Issy, and a couple others go to a nightclub where she is attacked by others of their kind. She recovers, and Stefan and her finally get together…only to have many problems from making them fully mates. Stefan’s past also comes calling with more secrets about Stefan as well. With all the secrets, fears and enemies coming to the fore, will these two fully become mates ever? Will they survive an attack? Find out in the second installment of this awesome series! I received this book as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
I love paranormal reads and I loved the first book in this series so I definitely wanted to read this story. There were things I liked and disliked about this story. I enjoyed the closeness of the family. However, at times they were too much, especially the younger siblings. I enjoyed Stefan and Isabelle together but there were times where their actions worked on my nerves. I wanted Isabelle to be a stronger character and stop whining and acting childish. I enjoyed getting Stefan’s back story with his family and Brian but I do wish the ending was a little bit more when it came to Stefan and Isabelle. I know Stefan and Isabelle are mates and of course they will have their HEA but I would have loved an epilogue instead of the story just ending the way it did. It was an okay ending but it left me unsatisfied.
