Destined in Love is a great addition to the Finding Love Medical Romance series from Rose Verde. Ms. Verde’s stories always resonate with me. The plots are well done. God is always a main character, but never preachy. This book is an opposites attract romance with Ruby, the preacher’s daughter, and Chase, the sheriff’s son. The characters have great depth and the plot is a good one. You do not want to miss this book.
Rose has done it again with a great redemption story. I love the characters and the way the author shows Chase’s growth and struggle.
Chase was the town bad boy. Always in trouble and up for a dare. He set up the preacher’s daughter and publicly humiliated her. What no one knows is he secretly fell in love with her. Now, twelve years later can he return and be forgiven not just by Ruby but the town that turned their back on him?
Ruby was humiliated by Chase in high school. Now she has to work with him everyday at the town clinic. Guarding her heart isn’t going to be easy. As she watches him handle the rejection and anger of an unforgiving town she wonders if he’s really changed. Can she take a chance and forgive?
Great story of forgiveness, hope and love. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
This story brings an emotional rollercoaster of feelings of the town’s bad boy returning after 12 years of being gone coming back to his hometown to face his past as a doctor at his friend’s private practice. He was met at church upon his arrival by slurs thrown at him from the church members that vehemently told him to leave. The patients at the doctor’s office refused to allow him to see them. And the other doctor at the office was the girl that he had went through with a dare made by his friend’s to kiss the preacher’s kid to embarrass her which he did at prom and immediately regretted it. But he came back and stood and listened to the people trash him about his past as he said he deserved it. However, he was going to show everybody in town including his father that he had changed after his Grandfather had shown him love and taught him the forgiveness that becoming a Christian would bring. He had learned to control his actions by being in the Army and his love of helping people by becoming a doctor. He also wanted to love and be loved back by the preacher’s kid. He had never forgot that kiss neither had she. This was a really good story that keeps you guessing at every turn. There is no lack of excitement in this book!
This is the third book in this series. It focuses on bad boy, Chase Calder, who has grown up, found God, and returned to the island he grew up on to make amends for his past and to help a friend in his clinic.
It is also a beautiful love story between Chase and the preacher’s daughter, Ruby Campbell, who he hurt on a dare back in high school. It was fun to watch the two main characters deny their feelings toward each other twelve years later. It was also interesting to see how much the islanders were not willing to believe a bad boy in his teens could turn out to be a loving, caring doctor who had found God and turned his life around with the help of his grandfather. Great story in a great series! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
I loved Ruby and really disliked Chase (at the beginning). Fast forward 12 years and I still love Ruby and ended up liking Chase. Forgiveness is something we can only extend because we have been forgiven by the Lord. It is so hard. I wish Chase had just apologized earlier. I greatly admired Ruby for forgiving and moving on. Loved the slow progression of their relationship. They really make a sweet couple. This is my favorite in this series. Looking forward to the next book.
This is the 3rd book in the series I’ve read & I love it as much as the 1st book. It’s a story of hard times for a young man who makes wrong choices growing up, a father lost in himself after the death of his wife, redemption when God gets ahold of Chase’s life, following God’s promptings, persurverance, & reconciliation. I love the story & this authors writings. This book should uplift & encourage your soul. I received a free copy from the author. This is my honsest, volunatry opinion.
A teenage bet. A heart broken. Lives Damaged. Lives Changed.
It is written: Pride Goeth Before the Fall …
Just what was the fork in the road? How would things have been different if Chase hadn’t given in to his pride and let his friends ‘egg him on’ to fulfill a dare? All the questions, all the ‘what ifs’, remain unknown because Chase’s pride wouldn’t allow him to do the right thing. In acting on that dare, he hurt the one person who believed in him, who truly cared for him, who helped him. And he knew it. He knew exactly what he had done….. willingly.
Skip forward 12 long years. Chase no longer is that troubled, prideful teenager. He’s back in town…. his hometown, the town he was forced to flee that fateful night of the dare. He’s well aware he’s not welcome. He knows he’s hurt many and there are axes to grind and axes to bury. He seeks redemption. But how does the boy everyone knows as a trouble-maker escape his past and make people trust and forgive him? He learns quickly that a simple apology and a simple ‘I’m Sorry’ won’t suffice, not when people have long memories.
This is Chase’s story. This is Ruby’s story. Ruby? Ahhhh, she is the one who paid the price of Chase fulfilling that dare. And yes, that dare changed and affected her life, her future, too. The road to redemption will be painful. It will be eyeopening and it will be freeing. But it will be a narrow, curvy path that affects many people. It’s a journey well worth reading. It’s a journey that reveals the pitfalls of choices and their consequences.
This book was a very good read. Below are a couple of my Likes and Wishes:
LIKES:
… Loved the emotional draw of the storyline. Also liked how the secondary characters were developed into the story.
… Chase was a much better person than me. He took all the verbal abuse and shunning flung at him when he come back to town. He never made excuses for his past behavior, even though he easily could have (and rightfully so).
WISHES:
…Hope to see more of these characters walking through their own road to redemption in future books. I loved this storyline and wanted to keep on reading. Rose did an excellent job of bringing to light the path to forgiveness and redemption…. and that they are two very different things.
I received an ARC and loved the book so much that I think I binged on reading it in about a day. It’s much more than a romance…. it tugs at the heart while being a sweet and clean story, all the while teaching some good life lessons.
What is more embarrassing than to find yourself working with a guy who knew the “uncool” you of high school? Especially if he was your ‘Mister Everything’ and you were his answer to a dare. Needless to say, sparks fly. Destined to Love, the third book in the Finding Love Medical Romance Series, is the newest book written by Rose Verde. I enjoyed reading the book. It’s one of those books that brings to mind some of the stupid things that you have done and how God helped you overcome to be a better person. The characters and their struggles are so lifelike that I cried through the bad times and rejoiced when they turned to God for the answers. As with all of the rest of Rose Verde’s books, this one will not disappoint you.
Destined in Love was an enjoyable read because of Rose Verde’s writing skills and a great plot. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. Reformed bad boy Chase comes back to his hometown to try to make amends. Ruby, the girl that he humiliated and hurt in high school, is now a doctor in the practice that he’s going to be a part of. I loved seeing how God moved in the characters’ lives. The plot has some interesting twists and moves at a good pace. There’s a great HEA. I definitely want to read more of this author’s works. I would highly recommend this book to clean/wholesome romance readers and to Christian romance readers. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this excellent medical romance.
This book is so good! It is a wonderful story about overcoming your past and getting a second chance at love and life. This is a book that will think about long after you finish it. This is a new-to-me author and I loved how she wove God’s love through out the story. Thank you BooksGoSocial via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion and look forward to reading more books by this author.
Evergreen Island, small village, all the people know each other.
Ruby is the daughter of the Pastor of the church: nice, kind, help others.
Chase is the son of the sherif: troubled, active.
the story is beautiful, so realistic, nice characters and world building, fast to read, enjoy!
Ruby Campbell had always been a good girl. She was the preacher’s daughter and lived on Evergreen Island. She wanted to be a doctor when she grew up because she wanted to help people. During her senior year, she had helped bad boy, Chase Calder. She continually reminded him that he had lots of potential. He never studied or did his homework but got good grades but everyone was sure he would never amount to anything. On prom night, Chase had kissed Ruby and then his friends announced that he had kissed her on a dare, which was true, but Ruby meant something to Chase but he could never admit that he really had feelings for her. He had a bad boy reputation to protect.
Chase’s father was the sheriff of Evergreen Island and his father was convinced that he did drugs and was headed down a bad path. He kicked him out of his house at midnight and told him never to come back. Chase left and now, twelve years later, he was back to help a friend. Chase was was now a doctor and his friend, Ethan, needed his help in his private practice. What he didn’t know was that Ruby was the other doctor in the practice. Would she ever be able to forgive Chase for humiliating her and then leaving town? Would Chase be able to win her heart again or would the hurt he caused her forever threaten the possibility of ever having a meaningful relationship with the only woman he had ever loved?
This was a sweet, clean romance with a lot of Christian thoughts thrown in. Normally, I don’t really care for “preachy” romances but this one was done well. I love a clean romance without descriptive sex or foul language but with a heavy dose of real emotion and chemistry. This book delivers on both. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
