I really enjoyed this book, it had a decent back story with exes that caused heartbreak and at least one still causing trouble. A meeting and sparks, a hot gorgeous island, with wonderful scenery. There was some angst and lots of romance. Chuck in great characters and a vineyard there isn’t much not to like. I loved just getting lost in the story and wrapped up in the issues concerning Faith and Dean, taking me to a magical place on a beach with the sea, I could almost smell the salty sea air and feel the sun and slight breeze from the ocean. I wanted to go there and see it for real. There is a lot of sex in the story bit I think mainly because the couple were so wrapped up in each other, both had great stamina though. This book is well written and definitely one to enjoy, especially as a holiday get away from it all read. Started 26/7/21 Finished 28/7/21
This is an enthralling yet heart-warming love story following the lives of two people, both having previously suffered bad relationships who come together and make an immediate connection – although not necessarily beginning on the right foot! Faith – a romance writer – takes an extended trip to the exotic island of Waiheke, New Zealand and finds herself more than a little distracted after meeting the local bus tour guide Dean.
It’s a believable tale with relatable characters that quickly draw the reader in and you find yourself rooting for their happy ever after. The descriptions of Waiheke are breathtaking and alluring and the scenes between Faith and Dean were often steamy yet so compelling and emotive – I feared their happiness would be short lived. I loved the underlying story line with Faith’s best friend Leah too.
Toya Richardson is one of my most favourite authors and Destination Love is the PERFECT beach read!
After reading Flame, I knew I was guaranteed a great read by Toya Richardson who is a talented author. She didn’t disappoint with Destination Love and I read this 5 star story all in one go. Yet again, I was able to relate with parts of the story, and Toya Richardson did a wonderful job of showing the damage left behind after being in an abusive relationship. However, the ugly parts of what Faith goes through doesn’t take away from the beauty of this 5 star story about strength, love, and faith.
The story is set in the beautiful country of New Zealand, and the descriptions used by the author allowed me to visualise what the characters were seeing. You could tell that Toya Richardson has either researched the country well or has visited NZ herself. It’s the perfect place to set this beautiful and inspiring love story.
Destination Love has left me so excited for book 2, Destination Passion, which will be Leah’s story with Neil. We get glimpses of their friendship building in the first book, so I can’t wait to see what happens once they come face to face. I already have Destination Passion pre-ordered!
Destination Love by Toya Richardson
I loved it, but I have some reservations about this book. I love the storyline, the ideas and the characters, what I didn’t like that much was how the book was written. Some parts flowed and I was taken to New Zealand and observed what happened, some parts were not fluently written and that bothered me, taking me back to the place I sat, reading. I think and hope the writer can enhance her writing style and I would love to follow her on that journey. This is what the book’s about:
