WANTED: A ROOMMATE Requirements1.Don’t be a smoker. That’s gross.2.Don’t be a jerk. I have no time to deal with your mood swings.3.Clean up after yourself. Is it really so hard to put dirty clothes where they belong? If you meet these qualifications, call me.Sincerely,Desperately Seeking RoommateWhen I put the ad in my university’s newspaper, the last thing I ever expect is for the star football … the last thing I ever expect is for the star football player to respond.
From what I know of him, Abel Russo is a womanizer and an absolute jerk.
Sadly, he’s the only thing stopping me from being evicted by my annoyingly gleeful landlord.
It should be easy enough—there’s no chance we’ll fall for each other. But then he gives me lingering looks, and I might just be looking back.
All I wanted was a roommate, but I’m about to get so much more than I bargained for.

I loved this book, it cheered me up.
It is a light, funny and a sweet story.
I loved Lou and Abel, they are so cute together. I loved the secondary characters and would love to read more about them.
This is my 1st book by Micalea and will deffinently be reading more of her books.
When I started Desperately Seeking Roommate, I was hoping it would be a fun and sexy book. A little something to take me out of the mood I was in. I’m not sure I could’ve picked a more perfect book to read in that moment. It was a bold choice, going with a new-to-me author when I was in a funk, but it worked. Clearly I should roll the dice more often.
I like to call books like Desperately Seeking Roommate a “cheesy grin” romance. Why? Well, because I read nearly the entire book with a ginormous, cheesy grin on my face, of course. I laughed and swooned. I loved the banter between Lou and Abel. They had oodles of chemistry and I was so here for it. Oh and for the record, Lou is one of my new favorite heroines. I have a total girl crush on her. We’d be friends IRL. I just know it. She was smart, sassy, confident and didn’t let the judgy people of the world define her self worth. And Abel? Swoons for days. Let’s hear it for a college athlete who isn’t a manwhore! *cheers*
I am such a sucker for a friends first romance and what Micalea Smeltzer gave me with Desperately Seeking Roommate was damn near perfect. There was so much to love about Lou, Abel and their story. It was funny, sexy, sweet and low on angst, with characters I just adored — basically it checked all my boxes. This is the first of Micalea’s books I’ve read, but it absolutely won’t be the last. I’m taking recommendations if you have any!
Favorite Quotes:
I don’t know why us bigger girls are shamed by society. We’re normal-sized—I’m sorry your media standards are candy-cane stick thin. I’d rather eat them than look like one.
“Don’t fall in love with me.” “Don’t worry, Blondie. I don’t fall in love.”
Kisses are addictive. You can’t have just one. P.S. I’m referring to the chocolate.
“I want to hear you, to see you. I want everything. Don’t deny me this.”
“I wasn’t expecting you, I wasn’t even looking for you, but here you are.”
Desperately Seeking Roommate was such a fun read! I LOVED this book and the characters. I was drawn into this story right from the start and could not put it down.
I really liked how the book bounces back and forth between both Lou and Able’s points of view because I feel so much more connected to the story when I get to see both sides.
I thought that the chemistry between the characters was amazing and I really enjoyed Lou’s quirky personality.
This book has it all, a little heartbreak, some hilarious laugh out loud moments, some beautiful loving ones and some drama filled ones. You will be hooked and dying to know what is going to happen next.
You’re going to want to get your hands on this book for sure.- By Alisa
This was my first time reading Micalea Smeltzer’s work but OMFG, it was hilarious!
This is just some of the hilarity that awaits you:
“You might say I don’t need the mani-pedis, which might be true in theory, but I don’t need that kind of negativity from anyone in my life, so you can kindly f@#k off.”
“Nick. I was—I am—a Nick girl. I’d let him break my vagina anytime”
“Without the sting of hurt we wouldn’t appreciate the high of happiness. Not everything is rainbows, sunshine, and unicorn farts.”
Lou is my soul sister. Quirky, impulsive, funny and has no filter – we would be best friends.
Abel… a gentle giant. Loyal, loving and romantic. Such a catch.
This book was everything I expected it to be, and so much more.
If you are unsure whether you want to read it or not, I can tell you – it’s so worth it.
It’s the kind of book that makes you smile, laugh out loud and makes you go “awww”.
Louise “Lou” needs a roommate after her landlord hiked her rent. Desperate times means desperate measures and when she receives a possibility it puts her in front of Abel Russo. Abel is the top jock, hunk, and player at her college if the rumors are true.
Abel has never met a woman like Lou, her apartment is pink, she has a wicked personality and is absolutely beautiful. However Abel is not sure if the feelings he feels for her are the same. Lou is weary, she knows guys like Abel don’t go for girls like her, or do they?
This is laugh out loud funny. The chemistry is off the charts and Lou is the top of friend I want by my side. This book hit every check mark I had. Definitely reread worthy.
Desperately Seeking Roommate is a college / sport rom-com about a famous football player and a plus size quirky girl. The plot is great, easy to follow and well written. It contains swoon-worthy romantic scenes and some funny ones that will make you cry from laughter. It has many sex Innuendos but very limited love scenes. The characters are incredible especially the female ones. Abel’s characters are pretty normal, just a guy who likes to play football and has his share of flings. Lou, on the other hand, is out of this world, she’s very quirky, vibrant and has no mouth filter at times. I fell in love with this book from the very first chapter, it sucks you right in. I recommend this to everyone, especially if you’re in a bad mood. I will rate it with 5 stars.

Desperately Seeking Roommate was a blast to get lost in. I was instantly drawn into the world of Lou and Abel. Trust me you’ll want your night free once you start this book, it’s impossible to put down!
This was a great read. I laughed from start to finish because of how Lou is. She really has a knack for being clumsy and it totally fit this book. She was direct and just no filter. She wasn’t perfect and didn’t try to be, I loved it. Miranda was an amazing friend to her, she really helped the story progress and kept things very interesting.
Abel was a great guy. He may be a hottie but I loved that he had a good head on his shoulder for the most part. Roommates to more is always a favorite of mine and this author really made this her own. The way she had this friendship form and then it turning into more really gave this book that extra pop. It was funny and sweet, but sexy and laid back for the most part. There was some drama, but I love that it was a true rom-com through and through.
I’m embarrassed to say this is my first book by this author but it won’t be the last. She has a beautiful writing style and it’s something I can’t wait to experience again. 4 stars #2OCCJD

It’s been awhile since I’ve read anything by Micalea Smeltzer and I was drawn to the synopsis of Desperately Seeking Roommate, and now I remember why I love her stories.
With the perfect blend of heat, heart and humor I loved this college romance.
Abel and Lou are realistic, flawed and relateable.
Lou is sassy, outgoing, effervescent and completely charming in a quirky way, but it’s all to hide her vulnerabilities and insecurities.
Abel might be a college football star but he defies all stereotypes. He’s kind, sexy and incredibly sweet.
I loved the banter and chemistry this pair share their interactions are fun, flirty and full of laugh out loud moments.
The epilogue in this story left me with a smile upon my face and I highly recommend this title if you enjoy a college age romance.
A•R•C ~ I was given Desperately Seeking Roommate by Micalea Smeltzer as an Advanced Readers Copy (A•R•C) from Give Me Book Promotions. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
5 out of 5 STARS
Great story by Micalea Smeltzer, fantastic characters, believable plot twists, Danika and out own insecurities. Laugh out loud fun from first page to the last. Would recommend this book for a great pick me up.
Lou and Abel are fated / perfect for each other. Quick wit and personalities are a must with these two.
Find out what love really is like read this book.
This is my first book by this author and the whole storyline blew me away. It was hilarious, quirky and downright entertaining that I want to read more of her work.
I loved the characters. Lou was really a force unto herself, the way she was, her ability to say anything and just blurt it out and the fact that she loved herself as she was made her endearing and someone I want as a friend. When Abel becomes her roommate, needless to say the day to day with Lou is never boring and I think he comes to terms with that. I loved how their friendship progressed and that feelings may come into the mix but what really got me was the way Abel became with her. They both deserve the absolute best in life and if a blossoming romance is whats needed then they are so right very right for each other. Loved loved loved it to bits!!! This book made my heart incredibly happy!!
Desperately Seeking Roommate is such a fun, light-hearted read. I loved Lou and Abel, and how they complimented each other and how right they were together. Lou had a lot of insecurities she needed to work through, and Abel was just the one she needed. Abel was such a fun loving hero, and I really enjoyed reading his POV. I definitely can’t wait for what Micalea has up next.
Cute story about the popular guy, and the regular Jane, or in this story, Abel & Lou!!
Lou is in need of a roommate, since her new landlord took over and raised her rent. When she meets Abel, who’s currently living on his sisters couch after giving up his apartment when his roommates girlfriend moves in.
This book will have you swooning, looking for your very own Abel! Fate has a strange way of working, whether you believe in it or not! Grab this one now and enjoy!!
This is a must read. I couldn’t put this book down. I was hooked right from the beginning until the end. It’s a book you just want gobble up, but sad to see end. I want to be friends with Miranda, Lou, and Tanner. They’re a ton of fun and my kind of people. Then add in Abel you got yourself a great cast of characters. I laughed so much while reading this one, but it also delivers on the feels. Abel and Lou are just way too adorable together. I loved Lou. She’s one kickass character that’s wish I was more. I highly recommend you pick up this book!
Desperately Seeking Roommate by Micalea Smeltzer is a sweet, sexy and hilarious contemporary romance that instantly engulfed my heart and had me inhaling this incredibly captivating page turner in less than two hours! The moment I picked this book up it was nearly impossible to put down, which is probably why I ended up reading it in one sitting. I mean who really needs sleep when you have a book as unique as this one begging to be read?! Not this girl, that is for sure!
Lou and Abel’s story was EVERYTHING that I wanted from a college romance and it was also so much more! Their chemistry was undeniably steamy and so freaking swoon worthy that butterflies are still fluttering around my stomach as I think back to their story! These two completely stole my heart and while I absolutely loved Abel, Lou managed to sneak right in there to steal an extra special piece of my soul! She legit represents the person I have always wanted to be, but never had the confidence to be. She doesn’t care what others think about her and she’s not afraid to say things like it is! Lou reminds us all to never let anyone treat us like a yellow starburst because baby we are the pink starburst all the way!
Now that we have that out of the way, let me just say…DROP EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING AND GO CLICK THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW and discover how amazing these two really are!
So sweet it made my teeth hurt! I’m usually not one for a BBW story (most times there’s too much focus on body issues) unless it’s well done and let me tell you other than a few minor moments this one is terrific. The characters are wonderful from the quirky, beautiful Lou aka Blondie with her penance for mouth vomiting to the handsome hunk Abel aka Mr. Popular with his glorious big, hard body. Their relationship is cute right from the start and had me rooting for them from the beginning to the end. That bitch Fate can get it right sometimes! You know where this is going but the journey is a romantic dream. So sweet and cute and funny and yup the sexy is there too. My only knocks are the amount of food and eating in the story and the secondary characters. But mostly it was a beautifully written love story that developed in such a lovely and natural way that was authentic and believable. Especially if you’re a hearts and flowers gal like me. This is my first story by this author but it won’t be my last. Loved it! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is a standalone romance between two very opposite people who find friendshipand then love as they become roomies.
Lou is desperately seeking roommate. Abel is desperately seeking his own place. The two go to the same college but are definitely not in the same circle. He is a hotshot football player and she is sorta a college nerd. Very quirky, funny and her own person. The two meet and he is trying to be serious about football and not distract himself with girls.
That means the two becomes besties. Both are pretty awesome characters and I loved watching their friendship bloom. Lou is a character and she kept me in stitches as she charmed Abel. Abel is a total sweetheart and I loved watching him be so good to Lou.
This was a great college age romance where roomies become friends and then fall in love. It was great watching two very opposite people find the person that is perfect for them even if they are very different.
This is one of those unique stories that ensnare the reader from the very beginning, until the very last word. This story has relatable characters, as we have the popular football star, and the shy introvert who likes to remain hidden in the shadows. No spoilers; this is one of those stories which are just begging to be read and enjoyed. This is a beautifully written flawless story which is entertaining, hilarious, with witty banter, and is an all round excellent romantic comedy. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
This has all the elements of a great book! You have college romance, Mr. Popular football star and the quirky girl who hides in the shadows. I devoured this book! I mean I loved the tension between them, the snide comments and the way they are when nobody is looking. Abel may be the star football player but he’s not into the parties and drinking anymore. He wants more out of his life. He wants to focus and graduate. It makes it hard when girls are always throwing themselves at him and parties are always happening. He makes changes that work for him. Lou, Oh how I love Lou. She is a great character with so much heart and love to share. I love that she has to eat the pink Starbursts and loves to dance to Jonas Bros when she thinks nobody is looking. She beats to her own beat and that’s what make you love her more. She’s curvier then most girls but doesn’t let that stop her. She has great self esteem and tears down the haters with ease. With the help of her gay best friend and her super wild bestie, she has some of the best times. I wanted to be a part of their group. Abel, I fell in love with him. He has so much love for his niece and nephews that it shows when he walks in the door. Uncle Abie is a HUGE hit with them!! This book was sweet and hilarious! One that you will not be able to put down!! Oh and I gotta say I loved how the author tied certain things together, it brought the story so much better and funnier. I also must say that get back scene was perfection. The build up to it was hysterical and had me rooting so hard for Lou and Abel. Pick this book up, you will not be disappointed!!!
Stop what you’re doing and go ahead and get this book. Seriously, don’t even hesitate. Just do it. When I read the blurb I was all on board to try out Micalea Smeltzer for the first time. Now that I’ve spent my evening laughing so hard my sides hurt and losing my heart to the world’s swooniest hero I’ll be reaching for every book she releases. I don’t even want to say I devoured this, that’s not big enough. I world champion speed eatered this book.
Lou is like my soul sister living within the pages of a book. She’s got this irresistibly quirky, weird, hilarious and charming personality that makes her someone you love automatically. I have a practical harem of book boyfriends, but now I’m starting a new list of book girlfriends and Lou is number one on it. And don’t even get me started on Abel. No man should be that hot while also being that sweet. It’s like Micalea Smeltzer wanted all men to suffer by creating the perfect man in him. *side eyes my husband*
