I’m fake dating my ex’s brother…all on national television.GabbyI just needed a fake boyfriend to be on the reality show Desperate Househusbands with me to prove once and for all I was over my evil ex and living my best life.Too bad the only guy willing to do the job turned out to be my ex’s half-brother.Dimples are my kryptonite and he’s got two of them.RhettI was intrigued by her before I knew … and he’s got two of them.
Rhett
I was intrigued by her before I knew who she was.
And I admit, I signed up for the fake boyfriend position because I was curious how someone so successful could have dated my asshole brother.
Maybe it’s the way her edges soften at night when she cuddles up to me.
Or maybe it’s watching her rebuild her confidence brick by brick.
Maybe it’s just the goats stirring up repressed sexual desire.
Either way, I have feelings. Real ones.
Which is a bummer when my brother, the wrecking ball, comes back through the door, ruining everything we fought so hard for.
Where’s a goat to rekindle the flames when you need one?
Desperately Seeking Househusband is the third sexy RomCom stand-alone novel in the Reality of Love series.

What an awesome read!
“Pickles, natural deodorant, stingray stings, hangovers, cracking knuckles…”
For a newbie to Marika Ray, this was a great start and even though this was the 3rd book in a series, it really is a stand alone. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything.
Rhett…begin the swooning…man every one needs a Rhett. And him and Gabby are so cute together. Throw in some goats, a reality tv show, and a professional hugger… you know you are going to have a great time.
Desperately Seeking Househusband had me laughing out loud. It’s a Rom-Com at it’s finest. If you’re looking for a story that’s funny, sexy, and has the hottest ginger ever… You’ve come to the right place!
Gabby is still trying to get through all the messiness that comes with a break up when she agrees to do a couples reality show. Now the search is on for the perfect fake boyfriend.
Rhett agrees to be Gabby’s fake boyfriend and quickly finds himself falling under her spell. His only problem is he’s keeping a secret from her. One that threatens everything they have.
I couldn’t get enough of Gabby and Rhett!! He’s so adorable, has all the makings of a dream man. Gabby is hilariously awkward and still fierce.
I highly recommend this book. It’s a easy read, really funny and still has the steamy bits.
Honestly, who doesn’t love when a fake relationship turns into an all consuming, hot as hell, love connection worth envying?! This couple is hot, and damaged, and hilarious, and, oh gosh, super freaking sweet! I loved every minute of this book, and these characters were absolutely amazing. A must read romantic comedy with all the things you could possibly crave in a completely unforgettable love story. I could fangirl on for days!! Rhett and Gabby were meant for each other!!
This story was awesome. It was funny mixed with a quick wit and the undeniable chemistry between Rhett and Gabby. A fake relationship that turns into something more, love. I laughed the whole way through and it is definitely worth the read.
I loved Gabby and Rhett in this book it was so good and funny like the first book. It kept me wanting to know more as they got to know each other. I just loved the beginning of the book and how Gabby was at the coffee shop and how her and Rhett got to meet. From there the book really bloomed into something worth reading to the very end.
This story is the 3rd in its series but can definitely be read as a stand alone. It is the first I have read in this series and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. Gabby and Rhett can’t deny their attraction to each other as much as they try. Gabby hires Rhett after an unconventional meet cute to be her live in boyfriend and go on a television show to prove she is over her awful ex. Little does Gabby know that she and Rhett share a past with the evil ex. Rhett fails to inform her before she gets too far into it that he is her ex’s little brother! Between that and the plethora of supporting characters this book will keep you turning page after page. What could go wrong when you have a nationally televised fake relationship, a professional hugger, a man who insists on being called Lord, a model, and goats all in one book? You won’t be disappointed if you pick this book up! You will laugh, swoon for Rhett and root for Gabby through out the whole thing. Its a great quick read that will make you want to read the rest of them!
I recently discovered Marika and so happy as I enjoy all of her stories. They are different in a good way. I like that there is humor and sweetness. Looking forward to reading more in the future. Also my daughter’s name is Gabby.
While there was multiple times that was just down right hysterical but there were also some serious times as well. While Gabby had her reasons for doing what she did but Rhett made her see things a bit differently. Yes they both had their issues with Hewitt but they were both able to stand up to him and heal from his hurtful words. What started out as fake turned into something truly beautiful including a weird bunch of friends they never saw coming.. The group that was on the show with them each had their weird quirks but it worked for them. Yes there was some serious issues they had overcome and heal from but it worked out in the end. Gabby and Rhett were amazing as a couple. He may have been poor or at least poorer then her but they didn’t let that stopped them from hanging out and falling in love. Rhett brought spontaneity into her life and in turn, she helped support his dreams and made them a reality. I laughed, loved and swooned so much during this book!!! Definitely a recommended book by me!
Sometimes you just need a light and easy read. This one also left me gasping for air because I was laughing so hard. Obviously this book was comical, but it had some tough moments too. I loved the reality show theme and how crazy celebrity relationships can be. No matter how crazy their professions were and the problems each couple seemed to have, they really came together. The takeaway is to find someone who knows your worth and really appreciates you for you.
This book made me laugh so hard! I loved Rhett and Gabby! They are perfect together! This book was so amazing and perfectly written that I couldn’t put it down and had me laughing so hard I had tears running down my face and my stomach muscles hurt but in a way that was so worth it!
I’m in love with this latest rom-com in Marika Ray’s Reality of Love series! Fake dating stories are my catnip, and this one hits all the marks. Hilarious, swoony, and sexy!
Holy Cow!!!! This book was amazing!!!
Spoiler Alert:
I loved the growing romance that happened between Rhett and Gabby! I honestly didn’t expect it at first, but I loved it! I wish there was a second book to it or a little future flash forward! Such a great read!
This was one of the funniest books I’ve read in a long time, and probably Marika’s best ever. It made me nearly helpless with laughter in the gym on multiple occasions as I read while working out, and also caused unseemly snickers and guffaws on the train while I commuted. Thank goodness it was a pretty fast read, or I might have been ejected from the quiet ride car!
Often rom-coms are not all that comedic, in my experience, but I love the goofy situation the hero and heroine find themselves in. The motley cast of supporting characters is inherently amusing, Rhett’s take-no-prisoners joie de vivre is enchanting, and Gabby’s inability to remain serious under the influence of both is praiseworthy. It’s not all played for grins, though, there’s some serious growth by both main characters. Could it have been a little deeper? Yes. But honestly, for the genre it packed a pretty serious punch at the end, and accomplished a really tough feat: made me care about all the oddball bunch from the show, as well as Gabby and Rhett. It turns out that everyone needs a village, but you’ve got to choose carefully just whom you’ll keep within the town walls. I received an advance copy in return for my honest review.
loved this book! def. kept me entertained and wanting more. a must read
Really enjoyed this book, it had a great storyline and brilliant characters, I was hooked from the start and didn’t want to put it down.
Cant wait to see what’s next from this author.
I loved this series but this book is my favorite. I just loved Rhett and Gabby together. I also really enjoyed the witty banter and Rhett’s outrageous shirts.
Gabby and Rhett are complete opposites. She’s in control of her life. She has a good career, fashionable, money in the bank and beautiful. But she’s lost the man she thought would be her forever and she’s ready to show him what he’s lost. Rhett is carefree, a surfer and lives each day as an adventure. When he sees Gabby for the first time at a coffee shop, he thinks she might be on a speed date with the men coming and going from her table. These two will play the roles needed to be on a reality show that will show they world they are real.
Loved the fun banter and the spontaneity between this couple. Desperately Seeking Househusband is light and fresh with a little drama and a lot of chemistry. The other characters were just as fun to watch and live their drama. Pick this one up today and get lost in the real world of reality television.
I loved Gabby and Rhett’s Story!! It was wonderfully written and had me laughing quite a bit! It’s a great Rom Com!
I loved reading this book. Just how Gabby and Rhett meet is comical. Gabby is interviewing candidates for up coming show that was presented to her. She put an ad out to looking for a fake long term boyfriend. Man does she gets some whoppers. She is a no go there until Rhett speaks up. He has been next to her during her last couple interviewees and he was curious. He thought she was doing a speed date thing. Rhett decides to step up to the plate. This story kept me laughing and wanting to see what would happen next. Great story
This was my first read by this author. It took me a few chapters to settle in to the writing style and to the story itself.
Overall, I enjoyed the story, although I had assumed there would be more emphasis on the actual show. I feel like the entire premise of the book was based off the show, but Gabby’s reason’s for choosing to be on the show were barely touched upon. Much like some of the aspects of the show itself.
I did like Rhett but felt that Gabby was a harder character to both like and relate to.
I laughed in a few parts, but some of the story was a little too overdramatic for my taste.
The more I read, the more I became invested in the story and liked where it ended up.
