**Desperate Beginnings is the prequel to the Ravens Ruin MC Series, helping to explain why the club is the way is. It’s not much of a romance, but a segue into the romantic suspense series.**I don’t realize I’m the monster in this story until the rope is already snug around my neck.Every order, every move, every attempt to make things better only dig my grave a little deeper.Until this point in … little deeper.
Until this point in my life, I’d fought, killed, and bled to build my club, to prove to my son what kind of man was needed to lead Ravens Ruin MC.
Who could’ve predicted that he’d be a bigger monster than I ever dreamed?

This book was dark and twisted. This is a great start. I can’t wait to read more.

Wow just wow. There is a disclaimer at the beginning from the author stating this isn’t a romance. That these guys are not good guys they are criminals and do very bad things.
Yup, this is a dark book but it is true to the gritty side of life. Yet it is a romance in an odd way. How it all started, how Raven’s Ruin MC really got built…Cowboy wasn’t a good man but he loved, he lost, his heart suffered so he let the pain and darkness become him. He decided that was only way to survive. But it started out of love. There is a fine line between love and hate and Marie James walks that tightrope so well. She plays the heartstrings of her readers like a puppet master.
This is a book and a series to read. Two thumbs up. Two shots of tequila ready to down. On to the next book.
Desperate beginnings might better be titled monsterous beginnings. When your dad is a monster and determined to make you into his image from day one what choice do you have. Eric/Lynch grew up the son of the prez of a vicious MC club. Murder, drugs (for his father lots of drugs and not just to sell) and guns to mention a few.
He learned early not to become attached. All it ended in was loss. No one thought he had it in him to be his father. One day, he showed them and no one doubted him again. Now, if his little phsyco brother didn’t kill him they’d make the club not only dangerous but successful.
Desperate Beginnings is the prequel to the Ravens Ruin MC series. It shows everything that transpired before a new prez took over. Event though it’s not a long read, it starts and end with a bang.
Desperate Beginnings is not for the faint of heart. It is brutal. It is shocking. It is a perfect example as to why MC receive a bad rap. Ravens Ruin MC will make you want for more!
A dark, twisted, brutal book. This prequel tells us about the beginning of the MC and why the characters are the way they are. Excellant read.
What a great start to a series. This book brings to life of what happens before the other books, giving insight into the MC.
It goes to show any mistakes made, has consequences. I felt for Cowboy through this book, but the ending is bittersweet.
I can’t wait to read rest of series.
This book revealed a lot of how the club came to be and how Lynch became the President of Ravins Ruin MC. This is not a romance story but a very dark, gritty and sometimes sad story. If you have read the other books in this series I suggest you read this!
Desperate Beginnings is a prequel to the Ravens Ruin MC Series written by the talented author Marie James. I would highly recommend reading this before starting reading the other books in this amazing series. As always the author doesn’t disappoint with the story!
This was a great start to this series, Desperate Beginnings is dark, twisted and much more. You get a look into the characters’s lives, how they become the way they are, what they’ve had to go through. So much happens in this prequel. It was a great start to this series. This was well written.
I enjoyed this, it was great.
Thank you, Marie James. Great work 🙂
Desperate Beginnings is the short prequel to the Ravens Ruin MC Series. While I read the first two books in the series first, this was an excellent story to give me insight into the past; both the characters and the MC.
I wouldn’t say this was a romance story, but it does add a great deal of understanding for the reader. Having known what I know now, I would have loved to read this story first. I encourage new readers to just that: read in order.
This story explains so much in not only the actions of the next books but also the mentality of some of the characters. I think it does a brilliant job of explaining questions and setting the scene and mood for the rest of the series. A must read for this series. I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.
