“She was raw fuel for survival when he thought there was nothing left for him.”
Each new book in the series becomes my favorite…until the next book in the series. Absinthe broke my heart, but so did the others. Torpedo Ink series is a mindblowing and heartbreaking series. But it is also beautiful and inspiring. Once you start reading you’ll be as addicted as I am.
Not only are the club members broken and badass, but so are their partners. They’ve all been through hell and come out the other side. Unfortunately, they keep going back to fight their demons through their memories and nightmares. But they are never alone, their brothers and sisters always have their back.
Absinthe never dreamed he’d find a woman who could deal with his past or his present. He wasn’t looking for her when he happened upon her at the library of all places, wearing a tight pencil skirt and those sexy glasses that made his body wake up. Her red hair and green eyes added to the perfect package that kept him tied up in knots in the place that usually brought him the most relaxation. He’d never wanted a woman as he did her. She inspired fantasies that he was saving to share with her when he finally made her…his.
Scarlet wasn’t looking for a man. It was actually the last thing she needed to distract her from what she’d spent years planning. But it was impossible to ignore the gorgeous man. Tall, tattooed, muscled, and most intriguing was the speed with which he could read the books he went through while hanging out at the library. How was she supposed to work when she could feel his eyes on her? For the first time, she was having fantasies that had nothing to do with her plan.
Lordy, this story is dark…and tragic…and sad…and sweet…and sexy. It pulled my heartstrings and stretched my imagination. This is the only series I’ve read by this author, I love it so much I’m tempted to try her paranormal books. I can’t wait for more Torpedo Ink, there are so many amazing characters that I want to get to know better. The line forms here…
I love this series, even though it was hard for me to go through the proclivities the characters had in the boudoir. The characters were real and full of depth that sparked an emotion response as I traveled with them through their hardships. Wonderful romance mixed in the action.
This series just keeps getting better with every book.
Absinthe has a power that is horrific I’d say. He feels.
When at one of his places of solace he meets her…
Scarlet is on the run, so when she meets this huge, dark, powerful biker of a man she finds it hard to let down her guard. However, Aleksei “Absinthe” is one man you don’t keep a guard against she will soon find out.
Can these two find solace with each other? Each is the light to the dark?
Explosive, gripping, absolutely amazing story and I can not wait to find out who gets their story next.
I loved the book and the series.
Scarlett and Absinthe have a very interesting and complicated relationship. Both of their pasts bring complications to their relationship, yet they are able to help each other cope. Scarlett is a strong female protagonist that has a really interesting back story. The introduction of the new club member and the complicated past he has with Elena helped bring depth and opens the door for an interesting story line in future books. I also loved how Ms. Feehan was able to bring the Kiska play into the book and make the reader understand that it is about Absinthe need and not just a kink.
Aleksei Solokov has finally found his match in Scarlet Foley, a librarian in a nearby town. After years of abuse at the hands of powerful Russians, Aleksei and his fellow Torpedo Ink members have settled in Gaspar and are trying to assimilate into the normal community. However, they all have many traumatic memories are are deeply scarred inside and out from their terrible abuse. Somehow Scarlet eases Aleksei (Absinthe) so that he can escape the demons that haunt him. She too has suffered unjustly and lost her family and spent time in prison. They both want to exact revenge on those who harmed them and others like them. Can they overcome all these obstacles to reveal their true selves to each other.
This one might be my favorite so far. I love Absinthe, and Scarlet is so great. She’s such a strong character with an open mind.
OM.G….Desolation Road was hot ! I absolutely loved reading about Absinthe and Scarlett. Christine Feehan, author, is my favorite author and is my go to author. I will read any book she writes no matter genre or trope. I have read all of her books and loved them all. I have not come across any book that I have not loved that Christine has written. Christine is able to create a world that is rich and unique with characters that is easy to empathize with and fall in love with. Christine’s characters are well rounded and and are a product of their past whatever that may be. They are strong and inspire you to admire their strength to get over whatever comes their way. Desolation Road is definitely no exception. Desolation Road has lots of twists, turns, things going sideways, secrets, revelations, emotions, inspiration, and so hot and steamy. Absinthe and Scarlett have both been through hell and came out stronger for all of their past tragedies and heartache. They may have come out with some damage and scars but they are still there and trying. Torpedo Ink Series is an MC romance and Desolation Road is the 4th book in the series. (If you count Viktor’s story from the Sea Haven series then it is the 5th). Desolation Road has all of my fave elements in MC romances which are the camaraderie, respects, sense of family, and honor. When reading any book from Christine, no matter topic, readers laugh, cry, feel anger, admiration, and so many other emotions. There are not a lot of authors who can inspire and evoke so many emotions when reading and Christine is definitely one of them. Like I mentioned before she is an author I love is and an absolute favorite. Hope you will enjoy reading Desolation Road. Warning…there are some serious triggers and I would heed them. Don’t even try to read Desolation Road if you have triggers. Christine is an author that is descriptive enough that you empathize with the characters and will trigger any reader that has triggers.
This is the fourth book of Torpedo Ink , Desolation Road. This is the story of Scarlet Foley and Aleksei Solokov, know as Absinthe. Scarlet see tall ,sexy, and handsome tattooed man Absinthe. She attracted. Absinthe see sexy , smart, and a librarian Scarlet. He’s attracted to her and wants her. And they both are much so alike, and attracted to one another. The both have special skills. They both are protectors. And both are dangerous. This is another good story it has twist, mystery, and passion. It a wonderful series. Can’t wait till the next book coming out of Torpedo Ink MC, named ( Reckless Road 5th book Torpedo Ink, )
Just plain weird! Atleast there was some action and we did get To “see” the kids
I liked this book mostly. There where some things that were pretty weird but I’ve come to the conclusion that all of these book’s in this series are gonna have some strange kink in them.
Scarlet was a badass in her own right. Ms. Feehan threw in a curve with the new member and Alana. We’ll see where that goes.
A great read, as expected from Christine, this has been a very enjoyable series and I look to the next one.
What happens when one woman’s tragedy burns within in her for vengeance and reciprocity??
What happens when her desires to serve someone she can trust implicitly means a wandering storm??
What happens when the silent storm fighting his demons becomes enamored with the calm of the woman’s hidden storm and desires??
When the monster who destroyed the woman’s innocence and took away her freedom continues to hunt her after destroying her young life, through terror and persecution won’t let go by puts a price on her head and brings events to a clash with her wandering storm of watcher turned lover and guardian and the fires within herself burning for justice boil over for a final ending clash in the darkness of their souls and the darkness of the night where the only justice is the final justice of the outlaws and bonds shared by the broken spirits within themselves.
See how far those spirits bond, and just how far the trials taken and test the wronged woman in her quest for vengeance as she meets the broken fires of her lover and guardian as they face the depths of depravity of the monster hunting her while healing their broken spirits.
There is no doubt that Absinthe, the hero, needed his own HEA. Readers and fans of the Torpedo Ink series are sure to agree. He is a broken man, a damaged, hard man with mad skills in so many areas, yet he, like his brethren, yearn for something more, something that can balance the darkness trapped inside. Ms. Feehan gave him Scarlet, the librarian. What a bright light she turned out to be. And, a very big surprise.
First, I’ll touch on the writing. It’s solid. The action scenes were hard hitting, effective and powerful. The bad guys were so deviant, cruel and abhorrent, that when they received their justified comeuppance, it was boomerang brutal. That which they did to kids, and other innocents, was visited back upon them. The victim with the most loss was the heroine herself, Scarlet. It’s tragic and yet all too believable. Criminals with money seem to think that they can get away with anything. I wish there were heroes like Torpedo Ink out there – making the difference for those without voices. True, their methods are outside of accepted practices, and that’s an understatement. Then there is the paranormal element regarding the brothers and sisters of Torpedo Ink’s skills or ‘powers’. Sometimes I wish things like that were real. As uncomfortable as I might be with the descriptions, the end result delivers closure, permanent closure. For criminals like the ones in this book, that’s a good thing. Ms. Feehan has a way of writing that grabs my attention and keeps it even while she’s describing some heinous activity or scene. There is no way a reader can be unmoved by her characters’ pain and demands for justice.
Absinthe was shaped by the criminals he was forced to be tutored under from a young child to a young adult. That kind of stuff is hard to read. At times, extremely hard to read. It is in every book of the series. More details get dropped in each installment and it always amazes me that they are as sane as they are. Yet, all those hardships they survived keeps feeding the yearning in me for all of them to find their happy ever afters. It’s said that there is someone out there for everyone – and Scarlet has to be one in a million. I say that, not just because she’s a strong, and surprisingly skilled heroine, but because she is perfect for the hero. She has some unusual needs also and although not initially at the level as the hero’s needs, she is more than game enough to not only try, but to be the absolute best.
Here is where I have a hard time writing what I want to say. I heard that Ms. Feehan knows perfectly well that the kind of things that Absinthe needs Scarlet to do, might be a tad controversial, even hard to read for some. It plunks the story smack dab in the middle of erotica fetishes. It’s a hard-to-read fetish that drives the hero, and again, knowing what he was exposed to for all of his formative years, it shouldn’t come as a surprise. There is not one member of Torpedo Ink that hasn’t been damaged in that way. The need however, is different for each one. I’m assuming that the author had to do some serious research to get the details as vivid as she did in the story. It’s consensual, no two ways about it. It’s also not something that I even knew existed! So, on one hand, I saw the beauty in the jeweled gifts that Absinthe gave to Scarlet. Their meaning, and the amazing talents of the craftsman who made them, meant that they were all the more precious. On the other hand, it’s a very demanding fetish for the partner, on a level I just didn’t understand. Nor do I wish to. It’s enough for me to know that Scarlet has within her personality the needs that exactly match the needs of the hero. It’s their HEA and it works.
I know that there are many, many fans that are going to write reviews more glowing than mine. I did enjoy the story. I’m so happy Absinthe has found love. I think Scarlett is wonderful for him. Ms. Feehan’s skills as a storyteller are honed to a fine point and her exploration into the various fetishes that exist in the world must sometimes be eye-raising and perhaps quite stimulating. She knows how to match them to her heroes quite well. I’ll read the next book in the series because I’m hoping it’s going to be Savage’s turn. That man’s story is sure to be a challenge for me to read as well, but I’m up for it. I may not feel 100% comfortable with portions of Desolation Road, but that doesn’t mean I won’t recommend it to someone. I most certainly will. Everyone in Torpedo Ink has earned their right to an HEA and Ms. Feehan always delivers.
Desolation Road by Christine Feehan is a Trigger Inducing, Brutally Tragic, Emotionally Charged Story, Packed with Damaged, Violent, and Excessively Abused Characters, That Are Just Trying to Survive!
This is the story of Aleksei “Absinthe” Solokov, the H, Lawyer, and Brother of the Torpedo Ink MC, and Scarlet Foley, the h, and Librarian.
In my opinion, this story is like a gruesome multi car accident that you come upon suddenly, and you can’t force yourself to look away from, eventhough your mind screams at you to turn away.
It can ravish your mind and emotions, and leave you devastated, if you let it.
The characters are damaged, yet not completely broken, and I wanted them to find some semblance of peace from the tragedies that they were forced to endure as children, teens, and then adults.
The sense of family is strong, healing is encouraged, and the characters do receive their HEA.
Torpedo Ink is bad a$$! I love this series from Ms. Feehan. Every book reads like a movie to me. Absinthe’s book is a lot to unpack. Given the history of the Torpedo Ink MC in how they came to be, each story seems to open up more of the horror these people endured as children. The stories contain what could be a lot of triggers to some.
Absinthe always seemed like the quiet brother to me from past books. As with the previous stories, in his book, we get more of the raw truth of the horrors he and his brothers and sisters endured. We also see how that trauma has shaped him. While it was hard to read, I got a better picture of Absinthe and his fellow members of Torpedo Ink.
Scarlet Foley is one of a kind. She has endured a lot of hardship at the hands of others who thought themselves better than she. She is a fighter and a perfect fit for Absinthe. Their chemistry is red hot. I liked how her gifts align with Absinthe.
In the regular world, she would not fit. none of them would. Vigilante justice is not supposed to be for the ‘real world’. That’s why this is fantasy. That’s the point, right. This is the escape where we can read how those bad people really do get their just rewards (I know I need that escape now). I am loving the world that CF has built here. It is one of many that she has created that I can escape to. In this world, I get a mix of drama, sex, danger, comedy, and fantasy.
The interactions between the Torpedo Ink club members, significant others, and children are hilarious. The way that they approach issues affecting their family is totally unique to them.
I liked how in telling Absinthe and Scarlet’s story, CF has added more players to the storyline. I am curious to see how they play out over time.
The Torpedo Ink series is so much fun to me. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Each story from Czar on down provides breathtaking adventure and romance. If you haven’t read these books yet, don’t be scared. It is a fun rollercoaster ride of a story.
An absolute must-read!!
Christine Feehan does such an excellent job of creating the characters in her books that I wish that I could meet them. I’m always anxious for the next book to see how the story continues. Absinthe and Scarlet both have histories that make this story so unique and bring understanding to the lives of these characters.
LOVED IT
Outstanding book, to add to the exceptional series. It takes the motorcycle club to a whole different level. In every book in the series you find a little more about the brothers and sisters of torpedo ink and their upbringing. And this one is no different. As a matter of fact it gives you a better view of what their childhood was like, and the devastation it brought to each member of torpedo Ink. Each member is always got their eyes open for the one person that can perhaps heal them. And Absinthe was no different. He found his in a library. Scarlet was not your regular librarian, she certainly has a few surprises of her own. Also a heart breaking past. Both Absinthe and Scarlet have a special bond, but with their pasts they will have to find a way to make it work. But first, revenge is on the menu first. Nobody goes after A Torpedo Ink old lady. I love this series, the writing is fantastic and such in-depth characters it bring the story to life.
