Two Very Different Brothers and Their Romances
This book contains two novels about, as you might have guessed from the title, the romances of the Miller brothers. They come from a wealthy family, but the family’s wealth is self-made. I like the way the author set up the first book about the middle Miller brother, and he is clearly a driven and ambitious man, perhaps impatient with the people who work for him and not always treating people well. Because of his wealth, he is tabloid and newspaper fodder. His world shifts on a dime when he accidentally strikes a young woman with his car when she darts between cars into his path. She is thrown across the street and is gravely injured. He feels very responsible, of course, and barely leaves her side while she is unconscious in the hospital. He pretended to be her fiance so he could be allowed to stay with her. While doing so, he starts to re-evaluate his life and priorities. I won’t go into too much more detail about the plot, but things go south when she wakes up, yet he can’t help but get involved in her life later on. He feels inextricably drawn to her like he has no other woman.
I like how the author showed what was going on in the minds of both of the key characters. It was fun to watch this very strong, driven young man suddenly start to have true feelings for a woman for the first time in his life. He didn’t know quite what to think of them (which was amusing at times) or believe in their depth or veracity. And it was certainly a pleasure to watch as he seemed to continually surprise himself with what he did and thought. I wasn’t quite sure about my feelings toward the heroine at first because I didn’t think she acted right towards him in the beginning. She seemed to have such a chip on her shoulder because of her past. I did like it when she started to mellow and first get into their act and then start to create the reality. I thought the flip in the middle of the book, for her especially, was too sudden because of this way she acted early on.
I do have a quibble with this book. I believe it takes place in Canada, but I do not think that nursing education and nursing are so different in Canada than the United States. I am an RN in the US and couldn’t quite buy some of what the author stated about our heroine, who is a nursing student. Supposedly, she’s supposed to graduate this school year, but she hasn’t yet had any clinicals in the hospital! We started doing clinicals during our first semester in my community college nursing program. Yes, it was very simple stuff, but we were in the hospital from our very first term. I would hate to think that the Canadian nursing school system only gives its students a semester or two of hospital experience! The author also stated that the heroine went to nursing school part time. Again, it doesn’t work that way here. She could have done prereqs part time, but nursing school works goes full on once you start (and it is very competitive to get into). You come in together as a group, and you graduate as a group. Nobody does it part time. Given the rigors of nursing school, it also seems unlikely that she would be able to work two jobs and go to nursing school. There is so much reading, classes every day, clinicals each week, papers to write, research to do, etc. And it seemed like on her days “off,” she didn’t have anything to do with nursing school, or very little. This is just so unrealistic to how nursing school works in the US. I wish it were as light, breezy, and easy as the author seems to portray it in this book. And the idea that a nurse would pick up shifts in a clinic is all wrong, too. While that happens in the hospital all the time, it is not typical in clinics.
I liked the glimpses that we got to see of the hero’s family. At the family dinner, I wasn’t sure which brother was going to be the star of the second book in this duet. I was glad to see it was Zach, as he was difficult in the first book. You knew there had to be a story there. Zach’s story is a friends-to-lovers romance, where the friends are long-standing best friends when they are children, but neither knows the romantic feelings that the other has. The author actually gave flashbacks to their teen years, which I think added so much to the understanding of how the relationship worked. It’s a complicated one.
I enjoyed both stories in this book, even though I’m not a particular fan of “wealthy guy” romance. The author took it beyond the typical limitations of the genre and almost made the stories more of a psychological study of what it means to fall in love, keep promises, and work your way out of holes that you dig for yourself. If you like well-done, thoughtful contemporary romance, you may very well enjoy this duet.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Both of these books can be read as a standalone. James is a workaholic and doesn’t have the time for relationships. He meets Sophia when he leasts expects it and there lives change forever. In the second book we meet Zach who is Mr. Glass half empty and he is determined to be miserable his entire life because he allowed the love of his life get away. When a blast from his past comes back into his life and it changes his view on his life. Elena comes back into his life and he doesn’t know what to do. Great book and the loved the chemistry and attraction between these couples.

Two sweet romance with the Miller Brothers James and Zach.
James meets Sophia when he actually runs into her and goes to the hospital to make sure she is ok.
Then there is Zach and Elena who grew up together until her family moved but years later she returns and Zach knows this is his chance to make her his.
Enjoyed reading both of the sweet short romance and loved the characters.
The Millers Brother’s Duet will have you drawn to these stories that are awe inspiring and heart warming. The first story is Desiring You. James met Sophia in a very unusual way by hitting her with his car. Even though it wasn’t his fault he followed to the hospital to ensure that she would be ok. There was something about Sophia that called to James and he could no remove himself from her life. When she found out what he did she was determined that she would find a way to repay him. Given her upbringing, Sophia did not want to be beholden to anyone James included. The more he got to
know Sophia the more he became captivated with the woman she was. Could James have finally found the one woman that was meant to be only for him given what he went through with Eva?
Missing you will have you all caught up in Zach and Elena. Zach and Elena were friends since they were eight years old but her family moved away. It has been twelve years and she is back and their friendship is still as it was years ago but Zach is captivated with this Elena and all it takes is one kiss to change the composition of their relationship. As well as all this is Elena has come back with a boyfriend. She to feel the emotions stirring between her and Zach. Two solid modern romances with well developed characters and good plots. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed this duet, the stories were written well. The characters were strong, they may have had a few issues along the way but they were good for each other, they shared a strong connection, their chemistry was sexy and sweet. They were made for each other.
