Wow, wow, wow! I am speechless. Max you have done it again. I absolutely loved Belle and Zeus’ story, I couldn’t put it down. I literally did not sleep so I could finish this book, I started reading it at 2:30am and finished it at 7:30am. I needed to know what was going to happen. (I need MORE!)
They say ‘if you love something you should set it free’, but how do you do that when the one you love is who helps you to be a better person?
How is an 18 year old suppose to be seen as an adult, when she has a nasty alcoholic mother, a clueless father, a crush on her fathers best friend and friends that are selfish? You’ll have to read this book to get the answer.
I never really been a fan of an older man relationship story before but Max has done a fantastic job writing this book that even though there is 17 years different it never really felt like it. I am super excited and can’t wait to read book 2.
Oh, Zeus…. *swoon*
I don’t even know where to start.
This is my first time reading Max Henry and I loved it.
Granted, she broke my heart to pieces even before chapter 1, but slowly she put it back together and, by the end of the book, i just wanted to hug her and tell her to please hurry up with REGRET.
DESIRE is my first five star read of 2018 and you can bet it deserves at least 5 more.
I love how strong and mature Belle is, how she fights for what she wants.
And Zeus? Oh…I mean… he’s big, and strong, and hot, and sweet, and caring, and… struggles to resist Belle.
I would be lying if I said I didn’t have fun watching him try… and falling miserably. 😉
Regret is out today. Don’t waste any time! Grab the duet now and discover this beautiful love story.
Hope it will fill your heart just like it filled and warmed mine.
I’ve had a lot of time to think about this book and the storyline. For me, this is a 3 star read. I liked it, but I didn’t love it, and I don’t know if I liked it enough to read the next book (though I probably will because I need to know how things end).
A part of me was really pulling for Belle and Zeus, even while knowing this is part of a duet, and HEA rarely ever happens in book one. Yet another part of me was trying to figure out what their “love” was based on. I use quotations here because, honestly, I can’t figure out when they moved from being super hot for one another to being in love. Their age difference wasn’t an issue for me, but I’m struggling to understand Zeus’ shift from “hey, I changed this girl’s diapers” to “hey, I want her with every part of my being.”
The sexual tension between these two is off the charts, and the way they try to hide it and deny it just makes it hotter; however, I would have liked to see more of their “deep” conversation and the development of their connection.
What really killed this for me is the ending. Without spoilers, I will just say, what the…? And leave it at that.
I liked this taboo read, it was a 18 year old straight outta high school girl Bella, who has always had a crush on her dad’s best friend Zeus. Zeus has known Bella since she was born and he just recently was released from prison, he is down on his luck, going through a divorce, trying to stay outta trouble, and needing a place to stay. Bella ‘s dad of course let’s him stay ,what starts out as a crush ends in Bella and Zeus getting crushed. It weird that the characters are so wrong for each other but the author makes me root for them. Zeus really freaking manned up and put Bella first.I can’t wait to see how Bella grows and changes In the next book. This author always makes the characters work for their relationships and I love to go along for the ride .
“I love you too much, and that’s why I have to walk away”
And I can’t not even put into words strong enough about how much I just loved this book, even as my own heart was breaking for Zeus and Belle. Holy Crap On A Cracker – the emotion in Desire is thick enough to chew on. It is sexy, sweet, spicy and oh-so-hard, to put down when life (and work) gets in the way, because lets face it, we have to work to afford books! In my humble view, Max Henry has firmly planted herself amongst the top echelons of those talented authors whose books absolutely HAVE to be read, and I have no qualms in shouting that from the ceilings.
Zeus has to be one of my favourite book heroes to date. He’s made bad decisions, and his wife has let him down in the worst possible way. He is a beautiful and deep feeling man, and, he completely owns the consequences of his actions. Perhaps it’s his maturity that makes him so much MORE of an attractive hero than the usual impetuous young men I love to read about.
Belle is only 18, but she’s been in love with Zeus for years. She called it a crush at first, but as she’s grown, the feelings of attraction have gotten stronger. He’s always been there for her, through thick and thin, her mother’s drunken abandonment, her father’s absences through the sheer amount of hours he works to look after them both, and her bad experience with a guy who took sexual advantage of her. Hell, even I fell in love with Zeus at her description of him, “he’s beautiful. I mean, men can be handsome, gorgeous, even stunning at times. But it’s not often a guy can truly be beautiful in his masculinity. Soft lips, a hard jaw, firm brow, and the most intense eyes I’ve ever known.” *fans oneself*
And here’s the kicker. He’s 17 years older, and her father’s best friend. If Belle were only a couple of years older, and not your daughter, would YOU view their love as forbidden?
Here’s the part where I tell you that Desire is the first book in a duet. Do not let it put you off. You will be sorry. Honestly, I hate waiting for the end of a story with the burning passion of a thousand suns, but, if I refused to read this, I’d kick myself. 5 Stars and a highly anticipated wait for the next book. And, I have to have this in paperback as well – just because.
