It all started with a hike… about to change when she has an unfortunate encounter in the middle of nowhere.
Why would God take a personal interest in someone like her?
Grant McClintoch generally loves his job as a ranger in the oldest national park in the country. That it includes rescuing stranded visitors to the park is unfortunate. He has been trying to rebuild his life after it had nearly been destroyed. Grant doesn’t realize that God isn’t done with him yet when he stumbles onto an injured hiker.
But can he place his past in God’s capable hands where it belongs?

This was a refreshing story of healing, faith, forgiveness and love. How staying true to your Christian values and relying on God in your relationship can be hard but worth it. How a sprained ankle brings two completely different people together. Cady was a very sheltered homeschooled Christian with strict values, while Grant was a widower who still had not gotten over the loss of his family. Through this budding relationship, they were able to help each other bring out the best in the other. To see beyond each others past and see that they were so much more with God at the center. They foughh6for each other, stood up for, encouraged, joked with, and enjoyed being with each other. Through their eyes and the wonderful description of this amazing author, you see the beauty of Yosemite. I highly recommend this book and Anne Perreault’s books.
I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
This is another great book by Anne!! Love this story of Grant and Cady! Cady has set definite boundaries because of how she was raised. Some of those are really good, and some of them are definitely too much. However, she does really well with keeping the ones that should be kept, and getting rid of the others. Grant has become locked in his own world, only letting very few people in. When he meets Cady, she gets under his skin. I love that he still had his relationship with God, and it became stronger and one he wanted to honor more in his relationship with Cady. Love the way they banter back and forth, and she makes up cute names for him that are a play on his last name. This book runs the gamut of emotions, and, if you’re like me, you’d like to have a stern talking to with a couple of characters, and you’d like to knock Cady’s parents heads together, too!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
This contemporary adventure romance reads like a Young Adult novel, but older readers will enjoy it too—even seniors like me. Set against the stunning backdrop of Yellowstone National Park, we experience the magnificent scenery and interaction with wildlife through the eyes of the young female protagonist, Cady Jackson, and the park ranger who rescues her. Cady and her cousin, Ashley, seek to explore life outside the confines of their ultra-conservative upbringing. Cady continues to guard her heart and enjoy photographing nature, unlike Ashley, who tests the limits that bound her all her life.
Ranger Grant McClintoch isn’t looking for a relationship but this sweet young woman intrigues him. I’m so glad he respected Cady’s boundaries and for the way the author honestly portrayed their blossoming relationship. The story contains plenty of danger—physically and emotionally. It’s refreshing to read about a character who stands on her principles and doesn’t give in to the way “everyone” does things. I recommend the book for older teens and up. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
Desire of the Heart by Anne Perreault is book one in the Yellowstone series. This is a new to me author, and I am so glad that I got a chance to review this book. The author had be drawn in within the first few pages. I was heavily invested with the characters and their story. Main character Cady is unique character. She grew up very sheltered. However, she is struggling to why God would be interested in her. Have you ever felt that way? I remember feeling that way and sometimes today. Main male character, Grant, is a ranger in the Yellowstone park. He is a widower and still carries some baggage round with that. Grant and Cady meet because Cady is visiting the park, and is by herself and gets injured. It was fun to see how their relationship grows.
I want to insert this side note. I have never had the opportunity to visit Yellowstone. However, given the authors description of the scenes I really got a great picture of what it would be like to visit. The author has done a lot of research to bring this scenery to life.
Back to Cady and Grant. Cady had a weird view of what falling in love was. Grant isn’t sure if he could open his heart again. I loved how the author wrote their story. It was sweet. Be prepared to spend time reading – you will not want to put it down when you start reading.
I received a copy of this book through the Celebrate Lit blogging program – all thoughts are my own.
