Rex Roosevelt doesn’t believe in love.He believes in women, in sex, and in avoiding any and all types of responsibility. What he doesn’t believe in is playing the white knight by rescuing women . . . even though he’s been making a habit of doing just that over the last few months. Being the white knight is more in his twin’s wheelhouse. Justin spent a lifetime rescuing women from Rex’s ill-deeds … from Rex’s ill-deeds before swooping in to save the day with the only woman Rex had ever felt the slightest bit of connection to.
Of course, that connection had made him run and he’d blown his chance with Kelly Hamilton.
Which was just as well. Rex was cold. He didn’t feel like normal men. He shut down and selfish and—
She was better off.
But lately, Rex had begun to feel. First, he’d been unable to steal his heart against the pleas of a gorgeous Italian woman and next . . .
Tilly.
She’d needed rescuing and even though Rex didn’t know the first damned thing about being a white knight, he’d helped her.
And then?
Well, she made him feel something he’d never thought his cold, dead heart would ever feel again.
Love.

Desire at Roosevelt Ranch is not my first read by Elise Faber but it is my first in this series and I’m happy to report I was not lost at any point but I do feel like maybe the backstory of these two or should I say in depth characterization is probably going to be lacking for you if you start here. You won’t be lost; it just might feel like you don’t know the why of things …. That being said, they intrigued me enough that I want to go back and read from the beginning so #win lol
I think Elise wrote two perfect characters very well suited for the story she wanted to tell. Do I wish the plot itself was a bit more fleshed out? Yeah, but I liked what I read nonetheless!
Although part of the Roosevelt Ranch series, this can be read as a standalone; in fact, if you’re not familiar with the other books, you, like me, might well end up going back to them to know the characters better. Tilly is definitely my favorite character in this book; she is honest, she is empathetic, and she is real. Rex is perfect for her – the new, improved Rex, that is, and the scene where he has Tilly’s car fixed (instead of buying her a new one) is a delight. Elise Faber masterfully shows Rex as the outsider, in the diner, at Justin’s home, even in town in general; this is an extremely well written character. I definitely recommend this book, and am heading off to read the rest of the series.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Can a Bad Boy Change?
Elise has given us Rex the bad boy. Rex is very good at being bad. His family is well known in the town and he is the one person who is not popular. When he returns, most wonder why he is still hanging around. Then on a ride home he stumbles across a lady in distress, so like any gentleman he stops to offer his assistance. When he meets Tilly for the first time, he is drawn to her, but deep down he knows he doesnt do relationships.
Noone expects Rex to hang around, but can Tilly be the one reason he makes a change and becomes a different person. Do you believe in Love at first sight or is it Lust at first sight?
The true question for all those near and dear is can a man really convert from being a bad boy, when he has the fame and a healthy bank account to get him whatever he wants?
Be sure to add this to your want to read list, you wont be disappointed.
Desire at Roosevelt Ranch by Elise Faber is book 5 in the Roosevelt Ranch series. It’s Rex’s book in the series and it’s a short story in the series of how he finally meets the woman who tames his heart- Tilly.
Rex has a bad reputation with women , Tilly gives Rex a chance and this story blooms. I enjoyed the characters and the sweet chemistry between them. I wish it wasn’t so short. I would have liked more story and not a rushed ending but overall, good book in the series.
My Rating: 4.2 stars *******
I’m a big fan of the Roosevelt Ranch series and this book is a fantastic addition! I loved it! It a great storyline and wonderful characters! It was an emotional roller coaster ride that I’m glad I was on. I loved Rex and Tilly’s story. Rex fell hard for Tilly the first time he saw her. She knew his reputation and knew she should stay away but didn’t think she could. It took awhile for Rex to convince Tilly to give him a chance. Rex proved to everyone that he’s changed into a better man.
Once again Elisa has written another fantastic story in the Roosevelt Ranch series! I can’t wait to see what Elisa gives us next!
I thought that this was a very good read. There is just something about a bad boy. I think it’s all that deep intensity and hidden layers that so desperately need to be explored and discovered that I find so incredibly enticing. Rex is just such a bad boy and I loved reading his and Tilly’s romance. This book offers up plenty of emotions, drama and tension as this couple’s story unfolds. This read gave me lots of feels and it gave my heartstrings some serious pulls along the way.
Second chances don’t come with instructions. In life and in love sometimes you have to wing it. Rex is so used to playing by his own rules that he never stops to assess the damage he’s left behind. When life finally forces his heart to take notice, he may end up being the one that’s left in the dust this time. Desire at Roosevelt Ranch is like a wake up call to the senses. Beneath the heartache, beyond the drama and hidden inside the chaos is a heartbreaker of a romance. Faber takes emotions to the end of the rainbow and back to expose the pot of gold that’s been waiting around the bend.
Truth time, I never read the first book in this series. With that said, while this book is part of a series I feel like you don’t have to read them all in order to get the full effect. And while this book is about Rex Roosevelt I have to admit that I’m glad I never read the first book. I like the Rex we meet in this book. I’m not so sure I would have liked him prior. Now I’m sure if you read the first book you could say he redeemed himself. But at the same time I like not knowing that prior man. I like this caring Rex. I like how he tries to take care of Tilly. But I also love Tilly and her independence. After the past she’s had she deserves to show the world just how strong she really is. These two really helped even each other out and I loved it. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
I’ve been looking forward to Rex’s story for multiple books. A reformed badboy is one of my favorite tropes. There are always two sides to every tale and I was anxious to hear Rex Roosevelt’s, resident bad guy, basically the complete opposite to his twin brother, Justin.
Rex definitely did break my heart. He always felt like an outsider, someone who never measured up. I suppose when you already have the carbon copy of yourself who is perfect, why try to measure up? The only way Rex could garner attention was with the wrong kind. Here we are several years later and Rex finds himself at a crossroads of wanting to change, but how exactly does he do that?
Meet Tilly, a damsel in distress over and over and over and Rex who continually comes to her rescue. They both can’t seem to stay away from one another, there is this magnetic pull, but more than that an underlying understanding between the two of them. They have both suffered from the same situations, being an outsider looking in on life.
I was a tad sad that Justin didn’t stand up for his brother more, but given Rex’s history I can certainly understand it. For all of my expectations, which were totally my own, I was expecting more (more what? I can’t place my finger on it), but this was still a very touching story between two broken people that I loved watching grow and love one another.
Can I just say I am excited to finally get Rex’s story. You get this amazing change in Rex from meeting him in the first book Diaster at Roosevelt Ranch. It takes a special lady to turn Rex’s world upside down. You feel that once you meet Tily. I love Tily. She is gun shy when it comes to trusting Rex and you understand why when you read this. But she is strong and trying to over come everything. She is just what Rex needed. Yes the guy you want to hate from the first book will be the one that will make you swoon in this one. I love Desire at Roosevelt Ranch and couldn’t put it down at all.
I was so happy to read Rex’s story. I loved that Rex fell hard right from the start for Tilly. Of course he might have gone about his wooing a tad wrong, but his heart was in the right place.Tilly was such a strong character despite the upbringing she had. She was bound and determined to do things on her own. I loved that about her. This was such a great story!!
