You need to be tough to survive living in the desert. It’s ruled by outlaws, gangs, cartels, and dirty kings. Now the new Prez of the New Mexico Chapter of the RB MC has set his sights on me. But he’s not the only dark ruler who wants a queen.
I’m caught between rivals. Fought over like a prize. But I’m no man’s possession. I’m as wild as the desert itself, full of rough edges and hair that blows … edges and hair that blows like a tumbleweed. No man has tamed my rebellious heart yet.
Tarak Cassadore is a black hole sucking me into his universe of mayhem. His Apache blood is strong and hot. His lineage shows in every hard plane of his face… in every corded muscle on his body. But If he thinks I have stars in my eyes like every other sweetbutt, he can think again.
I’m not a sucker for the new Desert King. Even if the heat in his eyes brands me with some sort of unspoken promise.
But his want puts an even bigger target on my back. The leader of the Black Scorpion MC decides to make his move against Tarak by taking me prisoner. Bound to both MC’s… which one will I chose?
They all want to break me. Bend me to their will. But when I’m done, every desert king will bend the knee to me, their desert queen.

I read book 2 before this one so I had a lot more of the backstory between Edge and Tarak. I am kind of glad for that. I really like Amber’s character. Tarak does a pretty good job of appearing less damaged than he is, I just wish he didn’t blind himself to the reality of Mandy. Needs a bit of editing.

Here we have Covid19 Survivor Amber Walker who had decided she HAS to get away from the life she knew in Florida to Santa Fe to become a Childminder.
But its when her car broke down. It wasn’t until a biker stops & helped her as SOON as he had heard she survived from Covid. The man is Edge is the Prez from the Scorpions MC.
But then another Prez Tarak from the Royal Bastards arrives in the Triple xxx Strip Club.
Straight away he was another one who was Cold & Icy towards her.
But its when she arrives in Albuquerque to start her new job & sees that she’s on The Royal Bastards Turf.
Though its when she hears that she reminds BOTH men who fell in love with the same woman Mandy & things progress when she ignores Tarak’s demands of Her Leaving His land, but she has a back bone & refuses to leave her job & new home town she buys herself a house.
But its when they both want to get hold of Her ‘Golden Blood’ Edge for his daughter & Tarak & All The Royal Bastards want to be able to get the plasma to help aid others who get Covid19. It becomes so beautiful especially when Amber sees them both in a different light….
I am not in the majority here, but I wanted more from “Desert King”. It started with a great beginning of two men Tarak and Edge, both Pres. of their MCs wanting the same woman, Amber. While the story started out with so much promise of two rival clubs, it just became two men wanting the same woman. One man will win, but I did not find much of an MC story or conflict. I hate giving a poor review, but this one just fell a bit flat for me. I will read another one by this author as I don’t base an author’s work on just one book. **I was gifted “Desert King” via Booksprout and leave my review based on my reading.** 3 Stars!
I have to admit Mouse kept me guessing all the way to the end. The back and forth between two MC clubs was a way to keep me reading, but I had to take a star away because it didn’t go the way I thought it should. Okay, not really that. Jax kind of left it hanging when it came to Tarak, Mouse, and Edge. I know it doesn’t seem like that to a point, but I felt the story was 100% fulfilled. I felt that there wasn’t an ending for Edge. And I really really liked his character. Food for thought.
I read this via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is supposed to be part of the multi author Royal Bastards MC series but the only connection is the name and a very brief mention of their business.
Triggers: none – this is not a dark MC story.
**spoilers**
This was less MC story and more 2 guys fighting over a girl story.
Amber, recovering from Covid, decides to move from home and find herself. She brings up her covid recovery constantly. Not quite TSTL but she is a bit boring. 15% in and I didn’t care about the 2 guys or the girl.
Secondary female characters seemed more interesting. (Jenny and Regan)
Edge, president of an MC. His former love, Mandy passed away. He rescues Amber after her car breaks down. He hates Tarak.
Tarak, president of the Royal Bastards chapter in town. He was also in love with Mandy and heartbroken when she died. He hates Edge.
Apparently this author is making her RB storyline all about covid, as it is talked about repeatedly. I hope this is not how the rest of the series goes. This MC version is safe, not dark or gritty. The MC part is really secondary to the overall story. They do ride motorcycles, and have a clubhouse, meet in Church and have a couple of strippers. I probably will read the authors next book only because it is Regan’s story with Edge.
3 stars. It isn’t a terrible read. I was expecting a dark, hardcore MC story like so many others in the series. There is also zero sex, except for some quick oral and a few kisses. The book ends at 85% and then contains blurbs of the authors other works.
A Covid-19 survivor takes on…. everyone. A strong woman who is finally doing what she wants to do gets mixed up in rival MC’s. Don’t forget strong alpha male characters to make you swoon. A great book that I could not put down. Can’t wait for the rest!!!
My first read by Jax and my first Royal Bastards MC. I loved it! Great characters and story line that drew me in and I could not put it down.
This book was an original story telling of two beautiful souls. It gives you all the feels. The characters are so relateble with things they endure through their journey to find love and light. I highly recommend this book.
A compelling and riveting read! It is a fast pace on the edge of your seat read! The story line is well thought out and detailed, well written, and consistent. Lots of action, drama, suspense, back and forth, and heart-racing adventure to look forward to in this story. The characters are amazing; Amber is strong, feisty, and sassy; Tarak is broken and strong. Not much time was spent on developing the romantic side of their relationship and their coming together at the end of the book felt a bit rushed (but I guess we will get a glimpse of their relationship development in the next book – hopefully). However, this is one exciting must read!

In the desert Amber is the prize between two MC’s. The only problem? She does not want to be. She is not someone to be messed with and made or forced to do anything. When Tarak and Edge of motives of the same caliber and both want the same thing, well let’s say it adds fuel to the fire between the two clubs. They both want to conquer Amber. She just wants to live life to the fullest and have no regrets. A highly entertaining book which will sweep you off your feet.

Tarek has his eye on a certain desert flower; but so does someone else. She wants a fresh start and no one’s property. No matter how heated his eyes are when he looks at her. This has a cliffhanger but it’s one heck of a ride. Get ready for the ride of your life.
Amber is a COVID-19 survivor in search of a new beginning. On her way to Santa Fe she gets rescued twice by Edge and catches the eye of Tarak – men from feuding MCs. Set in a post-Corona world this story explores themes of survival, self-discovery and second chances. Told in alternating POV this author writes about women torn between 2 men vey well. “Desert King” is a part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I was hoping Tarak would get a story and it was worth the wait! It’s an entertaining page turner and I look forward to reading the next one!

This is a very captivating story and completely addicting. The was a wonderful steamy story with a great story-line and wonderful characters. I really liked Amber and Rarak the chemistry between them is great! I enjoyed the book it was intriguing, with drama and twists and turns that kept me hooked until the very end.
Wow what a hot new read. This will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout this story. Mc read that shows the head butting between 2 clubs.
This was an interesting storyline. It had just enough complexity to it to make it enjoyable but not confusing or overly busy

Amber survives covid 19 only to end up in a battle between two bikers from different clubs who fall for her? She is not afraid of either one, but who will she choose? Wi she survive? This was an entertainING book however it ends in a cliff hanger.

Meh
I struggled a bit with this one I must say. Especially towards the end it just seemed rushed. But also Tarek hated Amber treated her badly as did his sister Reagan then All of a sudden one night dressed in masks dancing under the stars not knowing who each other is suddenly changes things . The next day they meet in person as themselves and Tarek all of a sudden doesn’t hate her anymore ? . It just didn’t mesh well for me with this one.
DESERT KING by Jax Hart is book one in the Royal Bastards MC: Santa Fe, NM Series. This is the story of Amber, Edge and Tarak and is a love triangle. Edge and Tarak are in different rival biker clubs but both want the same women…Amber. Amber has won her battle with CV19 and is now how to look into a new adventures life but finds she is caught between two biker men. Both she feels something for but only one can have her heart fully. Enjoyed this book.
I love this story. This is not a typical MC story. You get love and passion. My heart is all for Amber. Tarak makes you fall in love with him. Even Edge is a well crafted character. I absolutely want more. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I absolutely recommend this book.
