Charlotte Walker is just an intern trying to get through her surgical rotation in one piece when her life takes an abrupt turn for the weird. A seven-foot tall patient with multicolored eyes and golden skin shows up in the ER asking for her. When he tells Charlotte she’s supposed to be the Empress of the entire galaxy, she naturally thinks he’s high or crazy or both.
He’s not.
Kristoff Verrai … not.
Kristoff Verrai is the Captain of the Imperial Guard of the Goddess-Empress of the galaxy. For ten cycles he served his old mistress faithfully. Now that she is dead, his only job is to find and protect her new Incarnation until she can ascend the throne.
He doesn’t expect to fall in love with her.
But a relationship between them can never be–the Empress must have a Consort with Royal blood and Kristoff is just a commoner.
Can they fight the love growing between them? Or will it overwhelm them?
If only Charlotte wasn’t Descended from the most powerful female in the universe, they might have a chance…

Some of the threads of the story remain the same through the series. This one is filled with deception. Action packed.
A great read that is hard to put down! This book is intense and wickedly dense. I love the continuation of the overarching plot that runs through this series but appreciate the way each heroine has to walk her own path, has a different set of obstacles and abilities. Charlotte and Kristoff start off kind of Rocky but over time build a strong partnership. There is a lot of action, lots of yearning and a steady building up of sensual intensity as the book progresses. There are some disturbing but kind of funny death and maiming. I felt bad for Eucilla but not for, well read it and see. I stayed invested in this book from start to finish, so I would highly recommend this one!
A good, erotica read. I liked Kristoff, I liked Charlotte. My issue was simply the repetition. I’ve read the Brides of the Kindred series and all three Alien Mate Index books, and they all have the same issues, likes, sexual situations, etc. So other than main plot events, you feel like you’re rereading previous novels by this author. It takes a while for repetition to get to me, but it finally did in this one. 20 books and it seems just the same. But on its own, an entertaining read.
I’m loving this world, or rather galaxy of new worlds.
This book was hard to put down, I was so engrossed with wondering what could possibly happen next.
This is Charlotte and Kristoff’s love story. Charlotte is a misfit on earth, something is missing in her life. Kristoff comes to Earth to guard her from impending danger and to give her unbelievable news.
This is their journey of love, while breaking down barriers of ancient rules and traditions.
The story had many heart stopping moments, explosive chemistry between the characters and sexy love scenes.
I was so lucky to get to read this book early, I really loved it.
Although thoroughly enjoyed this book it wasn’t what I expected I mean Charlotte was my favorite leading heroine of the series this far, however I wanted her to be more take charge since she supposedly the goddess- empress of the galaxy she was definitely lacking in that department also I for once would like for the heroine to take charge of there sexuality I’m so tried of the ” OH, I guess you can touch scenario. I mean I still enjoyed the series I’m looking forward to reading what come next.
This is the third book in the Alien Mate Index and by far the most intricate of the three so far. The characters here fairly flew off the page at me as I found myself liking or disliking them at warp speed. I completely love the fact that the stories are told from the point of view of each individual characters and therefore give you a behind the scenes look at how they think, no wondering how the other person knew something. This took some time to build instead of them being totally into each other right away. The world they go to is beautifully drawn and makes you feel as if you are standing within the palace on Femme One. The background of the Majoran people is interesting and makes them one of the more interesting races to inhabit our galaxy.
Charlotte Walker has her own way of dealing with loss, and that is to throw herself into her work or in this case into returning to medical school. After Zoe disappeared she and Leah looked for her to no avail and so she moved and stared med school which kept her mind busy. She lost touch with Leah after her move and did not try to keep in touch. When a large man comes to the emergency room asking for her she is a little surprised but does not give it a lot of thought as he needs her help. After giving him her blood things take a turn for the bizarre.
Kristoff Verrai is the Captain of the Empress Goddesses guard and has come to earth to protect and bring back the one true incarnation of the Empress Goddess. It just happens that he has come for Charlotte who is very pragmatic and not prone to believe in such things as aliens. Kristoff would not believe that he could love the new Empress as much as the last but finds himself falling for someone he should not. As the attempts on her life increase he is hard pressed to save her but even harder is keeping his feelings in check.
This was a fantastic entry that I wanted to see keep going because I wanted/needed to know exactly what happens. There are some very hot moments, some violence, a lot of plotting, and some truly sad moments. I would recommend the series and this book!
