Loved it and can’t wait to see what happens in the next book in the series.
I bought and read the whole series in 3 days
Can’t wait to start the next book.
I read this book several years ago and sadly I remember it being better than it was. It is probably because of me having matured a bit when it comes to books (or immatured? Who knows), but even so I had a difficult time getting on board with the characters the way they behaved.
It had a decent start with the funeral, even though the writing didn’t grip my heart like it should when it starts of with a loved one’s passing. It did give an interesting thread to pull me further in to the main character, Alex’s world however. It didn’t fully manage to do that but that was not necessarily the start’s fault. No, I blame that on Alex herself for two main reasons. I hate to use these two words (phrases?) because they are always the reason I don’t enjoy a story, that being Mary Sue and TSTL. Alex was both in the sense that she had nothing much really going for her personality-wise other than being very naive and self destructive. Yet she is the character that everyone find special, because of reasons I can’t disclose because of spoilers. Continuously throughout the book she made dumb or not thought out decisions that not only endangered her, but also everyone around her, yet she never ever learned from those mistakes. Because a few chapters later, guess what, she was doing it again, proving that there were no character growth whatsoever. Not for her nor everyone else.
I appreciate the effort for trying to make the characters stand out among themselves, but the story missed a key ingredient for that to be successful. That being natural character development. There were characters like Will or Shane and even Alex that gave me zilch in the personality department because there just wasn’t anything there to give other than the obvious. Other characters like Kael succeeded somewhat and he is the sole reason for the romance also being somewhat of a success. He was mysterious and cold from the start which drew me in and his choices and behavior throughout the story came of as natural and intriguing where the others came of as out of nowhere or forced.
It may be that I am just a bit too old for this kind of story, especially since I did like it more the first time around, so I won’t change the rating I gave it then. I will despite it all keep rereading and see if there is any hope in the series for me.
I freaking loved this book!!! Alex (the main character) is super funny and sarcastic, and very well written. And Kael!!!!!! OMG he is my new book boyfriend!
I love it!
This book is definitely a must read. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down, I just had to know what would happen next and where the story was heading. Highly recommended.
Great read. Would recomend others to read.
Couldn’t finish it. There were some unanswered questions that was made obvious they weren’t going to address (but you never know, I could be wrong). Like what pulled her under in the lake? Why did the guy have the gun pointed at her before the attack but now that she knows him not even ask him? And it is just so unrealistic that she thinks the only way to keep her family safe is to become an evil werewolf (apparently there are good and bad ones – the good ones born and bad ones bitten) It just emphasizes her immaturity.
Read it in a day. Couldn’t put it down.
I can’t wait to read the whole series
I just couldn’t believe that a sensible girl, or even an interesting girl, would just go along with kidnapping, wouldn’t question what kind of animal was in the water…. there was absolutely no opportunity for suspension of disbelief. In fact my disbelief in the poor quality of writing and the lack of substance in the protagonist was too strong for me to continue. I did not finish this book.
Great book all the way around
