This is myth…with a dark twist.Since I was old enough to understand I knew I was worthless. A girl child when my powerful politician of a mother prayed for a boy. Someone to mold in her image. I stayed out of her way, until I couldn’t, and she made me regret every stumble, every misstep, every breath.Like clockwork, she paid off doctors to drag me into a mental hospital at her most crucial … her most crucial career moments. I rotted behind cinderblock walls for six months at a time. It became my life…until I met him.
Ash. A one night stand in the back seat of his car turns into my only solace while locked away. He pretends I’m just another patient, until I force him to see me…the woman…Kory…someone who needs him more than anyone else.
My mother is a monster. I’m nothing more than a pawn. But Ash…he’s my salvation.
Hades and Persephone like you’ve never seen them. This is magic, this is menace, this is myth…with a dark twist.

If you enjoy twisted romances, Greek mythology, steamy scenes, and a forbidden love, you LOVE this book as much as I did. It’s a different kind of twist on the Hades and Persephone tale.
Persephone is a woman who goes by Kory because she hates her name. Hades is her mother, Demeter, a political powerhouse who manipulates her daughter constantly. Six months out of the year Kory is admitted to a mental hospital to keep her out of her mother’s way and to be a pawn in a medical agenda. Kory meets Ash before her admittance and they have a moment of passion before she prepares to be locked away. Turns out, he will be her new doctor during her stay. Can she convince him that there is nothing wrong with her? Will he put ethics and rules aside and follow the passion he feels for her even though she’s now his patient?
This was my first book by Monica and I can’t wait to read more from her!! Her writing is amazing. Her characters are wonderfully created with a little tragedy and a lot of passion. Her stories are unique and so enjoyable to read. I would definitely recommend reading this book specifically and then checking Monica out as an author overall. I personally can’t wait to read more of her books!

4.5 Stars
Loved it. What a twisted mother! I felt so awful for Kory, her daughter. Ash is a hot sweetie. I loved his strength and tenacity. Who wouldn’t want a Hero and night and shining knight like him?!
Great start to their tale, with a good modern-day twist
—>>> Ash is intrigued at first sight by a mysterious young woman who had left behind an unforgettable memory, only to discover she is his patient at a mental health ward. And he becomes hellbent on unraveling Kory Sito’s story in an attempt to help her, possibly jeopardizing much more than his career.
“Oh, Doctor. What have you done?”
This was a great start to their tale, with a good modern-day twist to the characters in play.
Deranged is a modern retelling of Hades & Persephone with a mental health twist. The storyline is unique and the characters are interesting. I liked the way the author showed how one steamy night can change a person’s life in extreme ways. Deranged is book one of the Twisted Myths series and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
What a special twisted story this was. Where a mother shuts in her daughter to keep her career on track, on her way to president. How Kory lives her life the year she is free, knowing she can be locked in again. Just before she is admitted again, she has a one-night stand with a doctor who never leaves her mind.
And Ash, he just took a job for six months, not knowing he’s losing his heart.
A fascinating story in which the question remains unanswered. Why does Demeter act the way she does and is Kory so docile.
Ash recognizes the gravity of the situation that Kory is as good as a prisoner, locked up for no reason.

I read the synopsis before I grabbed this book, I saw it was by Miss Corwin and I could not click fast enough. When I started this book I was unsure but after reading it and begging for the next one I am so happy I did. This has the best feeling in the end I have had in a hot second. I know you will feel it too once you read it! Monica does a remarkable job in her telling of this story. She is engaging and gets to the bitterness while weaving a tale that will have praising her in the end! I highly recommend this book!

ONE EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURE
Crazy capers casper! Monica unleashes one brilliantly tantalizing, sinfully earth quaking, skillfully compelling, exquisitely unparalleled, rock-my-world tsunami, dredging deep into the dark corners of the mind and exposing such cruel facts, brutal tactics and ruthless evil, blasting this masterpiece to staggering heights. Duplicitous deeds, unspeakable attrocities and shocking truths run the gambit, brimming with captivating drama, riveting intrigue, vicious iniquity, selfish-agenda, torturous abuse, electrifying suspense and intense situations merge into one heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, nailbiting smackdown, futures are forged and secrets are shared, wrapping this jewel up sleek, shiny and tight. Bound, wound and crisply cinched, exhibiting the soaring ups and agonizing downs, breathtaking in it’s strength and beautiful in it’s depth, booting this gem into a frenzy with mind-blowing impacts, blasting this bad boy to life spectacularly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance fluidly, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Monica, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
Kory was downing shots when a gorgeous man sat next to her. He had doctor written all over him, but she really didn’t care. She had 12 more hours of freedom before giving giving her mother a six month break of bailing her out. And a quickie in the back of his SUV was just what she needed.
Ash was starting his new position at a mental facility today as a favor for a friend. It helped that the pay was amazing. It was nice not having to share an office with anyone anymore. He is browsing through the patient files when he hears a disturbance. He looks up from the confusing file to see what is going on. Evidently, a celebrity patient just arrived.
Although the nurse suggests that he let her sleep it off he decides to check on her. And finds something that could end his career. The woman he had sex with last night is the new patient.
Kory was the daughter of a Missouri Senator and she had 12 hours before she was locked away for another six months.
What a great book. Kory and Ash wonderful together. They have a wonderful chemistry and what they are each willing to give up for each other shows how deep they love each other. But, my heart breaks for Kory and all she suffered at her mother’s hands.
You would think that Kory would have ben the “deranged”, but no that title goes directly to her mother. I am really upset that Kory’s mom not only got away with her crimes, but also was able to keep some control of Kory. Sorry….that woman should have had a horrible death!
I highly recommend this book and will be reading more books by Monica Corwin.
No sacrifice is to small to save someone…

I’ve been relegated to being a passanger in
my very own life and the likelyhood of my
situation ever changing?
Unfortunately slim to none.
So here I am in some dive even most cockroaches wouldn’t haunt trying to consume as much alcohol as humanly possible; and by the way there will never be enough before I run out of time.
Now all I need is a two legged dude with hopefully passible qualities but breathing might have to do.
I’m my mom’s life size dolly whom she occasionally drags out to ensure all her wonderful constituents see her in the best possible light.
But when my pressence’s is deemed no longer necessary well then I’m back out in the cold again.
To bad none of these poor fools can see pass the dazzling mask she wears to hide her true two-faced nature underneath.
As doctors each and everyone one of us took an oath however every single one of my predecessors before me did what was simple and easy for themselves and totally disgraced our profession.
Yep I’m stuck I was totally bamboozled by someone who then ran for the hills.
So now i’m tap dancing on thin ice desperately praying I don’t fall throw; while trying to do my very level best to help a young woman everyone else failed.
After are one crazy rendezvous with a
back seat and before reality came
chrashing down.
She obviously still had the power to nearly bring me to my knees with one pouty look.
He just wished he’d seen the speeden bus before it flattened him or that his so-called friend had the stones to stand up for someone who couldn’t but apparently he was like everyone else.
But true to word he wasn’t willing to give in or give up and he most definitely wasn’t going off into the good night like some repremanded little boy.
However once the seeds had been planted Kory couldn’t bring herself to waste them she needed to see this through to fruition.
True they were both playing a risky and dangerous game of cat and mouse with a pit viper who was determined to squash them under her feet.
Yet with the end game played to satisfying conclusion I wasn’t about to waste another single solitary second.
After all I had a promise to keep.

To a degree you would never guess this to be a Greek mythology story. But, you have to read and look in the layers. Monica Corwin put layers upon layers throughout the story. I do love how unique the characters are and how at the same time the blend with the myth. This is extremely well written and you had to continue or else be stuck to your seat. It has drama, suspense, and a bit of mystery. It pulled me in and as I mentioned I was stuck in my seat to find out how it ends. This is definitely an magnificent story and it doesn’t disappoint. It is a must read.
This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed her writing. The concept of this story had me intrigued as I love a retelling of stories that are inspired by classic tales and Greek mythology is one of my guilty pleasures.
Once I started this one I was hooked until I finished. The main characters Ash and Kory (Hades and Persephone) was electric and off the charts hot. With drama, passion, politics, lies, betrayal, and steam this is one you will devour quickly and enjoy.
I’m interested to see what this author brings us next.
How a woman can give birth to a child and treat her like Demeter treated Kory, is totally beyond me!
Doctors have let Kory down all her life, rather than trying to help her in these mental institutions they do as requested by her mother. Ash’s ethical code and his attraction to Kory cause him to dig into her reports to understand what he is really dealing with.
Ash and Kory had chemistry from the very beginning. This chemistry allowed Kory to trust Ash, something she has never done before. It was so interesting to see how he want all out to help Kory!
A quick read but so very interesting.
This was my first book that I’ve read from Monica and it won’t be my last! I’ve already purchased my next read from her…
This book was interesting and maybe somewhat creepy, considering how much power Kory allowed her mother to have over her. Kory’s mother is a mean heartless, person hell bent on keeping her daughter locked away from society when her political career demands her attention. The night prior to Kory’s latest lock up she meets the new doctor (Ash) but neither of them know he’s HER new doctor for the next six months. After the shock wears off Ash becomes obsessed with diagnosing Kory, something no doctor before him was able to do. Despite Kory’s constant pleas to Ash to listen to her, she’s not sick, she’s not mental, she’s being locked away by her mother, Ash can’t believe a parent would do that to their child. But one night he witnesses Kory’s mother verbally attacking her and realizes that Kory was telling him the truth. Now Ash must find a way to free Kory from the pits of hell, and in order to do so he may have to make a deal with the devil himself. But if the devil can free Ash’s love from hell than it’ll be worth the fight…
I was intrigued by the modern take on the Hades/Persephone mythological aspect of this book.
Deranged is a tale with several dark and forbidden aspects which lend themselves to the whole underworld theme.
The story is fast-paced and quite suspenseful. The character names were taken from the myth which inspired the story. It is a steamy tale of the lengths a person will go to achieve their ambitions. It is also a tale about the lengths to which one will go for love.
Monica Corwin has undertaken an ambitious project in bringing myths to contemporary settings. I am looking forward to seeing her future adaptations.
Overall I enjoyed this book. The story was easy to fall into, there just seemed to be some continuity issues. Not all the parts flowed easily and some characters were introduced just enough you wanted more from them or of their connection to the characters. I did enjoy this new twist to the live story or Hades and Persephone.
This was my first book from this author and it was a good read. I am not really a big fan of Greek mythology but this story made it more tolerable for me. Kory and Ash have a one-night stand and meet up again when her mom is admitted to the hospital and he is her doctor. Good chemistry and a good read.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Deranged is a modern day retelling of Hades and Persephone with a dark twist. Kory (Persephone) meets Ash (Hades) in a bar and have a one night stand. They meet again when Kory’s mother admits her into the mental institution where Ash is a doctor. Kory’s mother does this every six months so she’s hidden away during her political campaign. I truly hated Kory’s mother! Ash digs into Kory’s files and figures out that things just don’t add up. Kory finally has someone fighting for her and in her corner, yay!! I loved Ash and Kory and their chemistry is undeniable. I love Greek myths so that really worked for me in this book. A really amazing read and I highly recommend it.
Deranged, a retelling of the Greek myth Hades and Persephone, was an unique tale that intrigued me when I read the synopsis. It was fun trying to figure out the names and how they relate to each of the characters from the original Greek tale.
This was my first Monica Corwin novel and I did enjoy it although I wished it was longer. The main characters Ash and Kory (Hades and Persephone) had undeniable chemistry and instant attraction. With villainous characters, family dynamics, politics, steamy scenes, lies, betrayal, and deceit this story will have you rooting for the main characters. I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to all lovers of retellings.
Hades & Persephone have my favorite story in mythology. For every retelling, I gobble them up, just to see the different takes on it.
This one did not disappoint.
A little taboo, a little sweet, it was an excellent blend of things.
Lies, deceit and betrayal are the stars of this show. It was fun figuring out which characters portrayed which, minus the ones that were very clearly who they were.
I really enjoyed this.
Monica Corwin is a new to me author. When I read the synopsis of the book, I couldn’t pass it up. Retellings are kind of a trend right now, and I haven’t read a Hades/Persephone one until this one! “Deranged” was the perfect story to get introduced to the author’s work. Since I’m a Greek myself, I was curious to see how the author would spin the myth into modern life!!
“If I imprison my body, she won’t lock up my soul.”
Kory’s life is a series of hospitalizations. Her mother has been admitting her every 6 months in order to keep her out of the spotilight. Her being a Senator, all she wants is to bury any scandal and keep her daughter away. The night before her next imprisonment, she meets a man and decides to close her night with a bang. It turns out that the man she slept him is her new doctor, Ash.
Ash took an oath to help and protect his patients. His mission is to try and make them better, so when Kory is admitted at the new clinc he’s working, his first urge is to help her. Even though she is his patient he can’t seem to keep his feelings platonic, especially after their hot night together. Soon he’ll find out that there’s more to Kory’s life and he’ll have to decide if he’s ready to fight for her.
“No one had ever believed me. No one had ever believed in me. Not until him.”
“Deranged” was a relatively fast read. It has the right amount of sexiness with a dark theme to wrap everything up. I hated Kory’s mother from the start, and I couldn’t fathom how she could treat her daughter like that. Ash and Kory’s chemistry is undeniable. Get ready for a wild ride out from the underworld!! I’m looking forward to the next stories!!!
