In Hell, pain is never-ending. My brother is the cipher and the three demons are using him. I’m struggling to keep Jared safe despite the huge culture shock of Hell. But Jared doesn’t want to be protected, and it’s hard to let go. I can’t decide whether Xeres, Vickal and Sylver are on our side or not. Logic tells me I should be more careful with them, but they make me reckless, or maybe it’s … make me reckless, or maybe it’s because I’ve always been a reckless individual. When we lose the cipher, we’re all on the same quest to get Jared back.
Hidden players are manipulating the happenings in Hell, and they’re all trying to steal away what’s dear to me.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Things are really picking up now in this second installment to this great series. We find out a whole lot more about all of the main characters in this and what makes them tick so to say. They are still trying to get the brothers cipher powers to work which makes things tense to say the least. Then there is a twist which really changes the direction of the rest of the story to keep us guessing what will happen next all the way to the cliff hanger that made me want book three right now. Great for fans of the genre. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Valerie, Jared and her three demons are back. They have succeeded in returning to Hell, but not without some suffering. Sylver was seriously hurt and is now being healed. Valerie herself is recovering from overusing her newly discovered powers, but she’s on the mend faster than Sylver. The demons still seek to acquire the orb and so they are intent on doing what is necessary with Jared to make it happen. The time for secrets all around will be coming to an end sooner than expected though. The relationship between the twins will be tested and the question will arise…can they come back from this? Prepare for some intense moments ahead!
Depths of Hell by Clara Harley are book two in her Secrets of the Fallen series. I like how this book picks up where book one leaves off. I enjoy the character development in this book. Valerie has had a less than pleasant life trying to take care of herself and her brother, but she’s about to have to start learning to let go. I understand that Valerie wants to take care of her brother because he’s her brother and her twin, but I’m surprised that he hasn’t tried to shake her sooner. I like how both Valerie and her brother are so unique. They exhibit demon abilities and angel abilities as well. I have to say that for me, this book is more engaging than the first. The storyline ebbs and flows, but it has some really great parts that keep you on the edge of your seat. I like the twists and surprises that the author gives the reader as well. Though if you are paying attention you’ll pick up on the author’s hints and start to piece it all together as you go.
I enjoyed this book but there were moments of where I wanted to shake Valerie. I get that she has basically done and sacrificed so much for her brother Jared, but I felt that she keeps treating him like a little kid. They’re the same age and she has to know that he needs his own space. I find her too domineering at times with him, but it’s not long before he starts to shake her off. Now, let me say this…I want him to have some space, but I don’t want him turning his back on her altogether either. I will warn you that their relationship gets complicated in this story.
At the end of the day, I’m eager for the next stage in Valerie and Jared’s story. I’m excited to see what happens with her and her demons. I am loving the development of their relationships and we get some seriously steamy moments, too. The author does a fantastic job creating unique situations and surprises in places I didn’t expect. If you read the first book in this series and couldn’t put it down then be sure to grab this book! I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars.
This book is crazy explosive! So much happens, and oh my gosh I wanted to punch one of the characters sooooo much its ridiculous.
That ending, it was entirely unpredictable! Seriously, blew my mind and I had to stop and just sit there for a moment because…holy crap!!
I highly recommend this series!
Another good book in the series. I decided not to rate it a five, because, ultimately, it wasn’t a book I couldn’t put down. It was an entertaining read, certainly, but it wasn’t so enthralling that I lost track of everything else. I had some hang ups with the first book, mainly that the language used sometimes felt awkward or forced. That’s gotten much better in this book. It’s certainly an action packed book, as well; you start to panic a bit at the end that there are just not enough pages left for the story. With the characters, I was a little frustrated by Val and Jared’s relationship in this book. I wanted to shake them both, but I think that was the whole point, really, so the author is pretty good about evoking emotion. I also liked how Val’s relationship with the the harem has moved on, though I feel like we really only got to know more about Vickal. Definitely some twists in this one that I didn’t predict, which is always a nice surprise, and definitely still looking forward to see the new twists rom book 3.
Book two in the Secret of the Fallen Series is unbelievably good! From the very beginning all through to the end, I was completely engrossed and unable to put it down. The relationship between Val, Xeres, Vickal and Sylver has so many dynmics going on. There are new characters being added that adds even more intrigue as to what is going to happen next. Jared has his own complexities that adds to the plot. Book 3 can’t come soon enough. The cliffhanger leaves you eager for more.
