One tall, dark, and broody professor + One overachieving college student = Chemistry they can’t erase. When I was asked to babysit for a single father, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Two months with Mr. tall, dark, and broody didn’t seem like a bad trade-off for the money he would pay me.As the weeks go by, our attraction grows and I realize what a concerned and caring father he is. … concerned and caring father he is. And he learns that not every woman is untrustworthy like his ex-wife.
We both agree to walk away from our fling when I leave for college at the end of summer.
And reluctantly, we do.
Until my first day of classes when he crashes back into my world.
“I’m Professor Decker. Welcome to King University.”
Depravity is part of the King University Series, but can be read as a complete standalone.

Chance has done it again! I love his writing & his stories always keeps me drawn in.
Sophie & Miles are so sweet together & then you bring Joey into the picture & they are perfect. So happy to see Sandy put in her place. And the ending was grand!
Loved this book.
Depravity is book one in the King University series by Jacob Chance. I FINALLY read my very first Jacob Chance book and I ended up loving it! I chose this series to start with because I love the genres involved. This one is professor/student, age gap and forbidden romance. This can be read as a complete stand alone.
Professor Miles Decker spent ten years with his wife. Until she left him for his best friend, and signed over complete custody to him of their nearly three year old son, Joey. She wanted out of the marriage and out of motherhood. She left behind a man broken and floundering to be both mom and dad to his son. It’s been a year now since she left him. Miles is teaching a summer class three nights a week and needs a baby sitter. His sister recommends someone to him that needs the money. So into his life comes Sophie Gardner.
Sophie is nineteen years old. She took a year off after high school to work and save money for college. She is working full time at a book store during the day but when her boss tells her about a babysitting job that pays really well for the summer, she jumped on it. At their first meeting, Miles came off as rude and arrogant. You could tell, though, that he was completely devoted to his son. She could endure his dark personality for the money he was paying her. But by the second visit, when she saw him smile, it changed everything.
“I listened to my heart once before and look where it got me. This time I’m leading with my head and I’m going to make the right decisions for both myself and Joey, before it’s too late.”
Miles is thirty three years old. He feels like a dirty old man for some of the thoughts he’s been having about his new baby sitter. The more they get to know each other, though, he realizes that she is more mature than most women his own age. She’s an old soul. And she’s very obviously feeling the same attraction to him as he is feeling towards her.
“Sometimes the one is only for a brief time, not forever.”
Miles and Sophie agree to give in to their attraction just until the end of the summer, until Sophie leaves for college. Then it’s over. Sophie’s college education is important to her and Miles wants her to get the full experience of college life, not waste it hanging out with an old man and his son. When the time comes, though, it’s harder than either of them thought. Because that attraction they shared has grown into something much bigger, into love. Both Miles and Sophie are struggling to accept life without the other, until the first day of school, Sophie’s very first class as a college student, when she hears a very familiar voice, a voice that haunts her days and nights. “Good morning class, my name is Professor Decker.”
I loved this book! These two had everything against them from day one. And I admit that Sophie really is very mature for her age. She knows what she wants and she doesn’t hesitate to go after it. And she’s amazing with little Joey. The chemistry and the sexy times between these two were scorching hot. And I loved the effect she had on Miles. Showing him he can trust again, and bringing laughter into his life. Miles can’t lose his job, though. He has to provide for his son. And Sophie can’t sacrifice her education. But life without the other is more painful than either of them could have imagined.
There are plenty of fun secondary characters here. I loved Miles two new faculty friends who I figured out will be the main characters of the next two books. I do plan to directly go on to the next book, Devilry, by Marley Valentine. I can’t wait to get started.
Author Jacob Chance gives us a taste of the forbidden in his latest release, Depravity, book one in the King University series. In the mood for a single dad romance fix, I found Depravity which certainly fit the bill. Throw in an age gap and a baby sitter turned student element, and I was sold! As a new to me author, I enjoyed how Chance gave us sexy and forbidden, yet not overly severe which felt right for these characters. Basically I’m over here kicking myself that I’m just now finding this author!
I loved the strong and intense connection between the main characters! Chance delivers palpable chemistry, and incredible heat. Depravity is deep and passionate, honest and real ; a great kickoff to the King University series! Enjoy xo
Forbidden Romance? Yes, PLEASE!!
What a way to start off a series!!! Professor and the Nanny, the R rated version. I love a good taboo romance, and what’s more taboo than an age-gap, student/teacher, Single father/nanny book. However this wasn’t a good book, it was FANFREAKINGTASTIC!! I mean this book was giving me L.I.F.E. I loved Miles and Sophie, and little Joey. It was a little angsty in parts, and I was screaming “just go with the flow” at certain characters. But what’s an epic love story without a little drama or controversy. There’s only one part I think the story could have done without, but mainly cause it made me want to slap a skank, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment.
I also love how Jacob brings a piece of his other books into all his stories, be it a full-blown cameo or just an honorable mention, it makes it feel a connected like.
I cannot wait to read Devilery, Marley Valentine’s book, next. Way to kick off a series on a high note Mr.Chance. A definite must read book, better yet series period. #2019MustReadBookAndSeries
I’ve read just about every Jacob Chance book, and this one was so different from the others that I almost forgot it was him who wrote it. While I love all of his books, this one is up there in my favorites of his. The complicated love story between professor and student (which didn’t start out that way) was full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but they made the story so much deeper. Sophie and Miles seem to be a forbidden love when they were truly meant to be a Happily Ever After from the very beginning. This book is unique, and it was worth every minute. I have a feeling the rest of the series will be just as unique as this book, and I can’t wait to read more.
I loved this book by Jacob Chance! Everything about it was perfect! The characters were great. Miles and Sophie were perfect together. Their chemistry was off the charts. And Joey was adorable. I loved the side characters. I’m hoping the next two books in the series will show their stories. The storyline of Depravity was amazing. It was steamy and angsty and at times, tender and sweet. If you like a forbidden, student/teacher romance, you will love this book. I will definitely recommend it to everyone.
Gosh I loved this book!! This book has so much, age gap, single father, divorce, Professor and a summer fling with the babysitter who will be an upcoming student at King University. Miles and Sophie’s story is so good, it’s sexy hot mixed with a little taboo and Joey will melt your heart. What a perfect book for the start of a series, looking forward to the following books!
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Mr. Chance. Add my love for his writing with my favorite taboo trope of an age-gap read and I was smitten before I even opened it! This book was steamy and funny and I loved all the characters from the main couple to each side personality. Little Joey was the sweetest and his relationship with both is dad and Sophie squeezed my heart tight. He was the perfect little added person to this story of forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
This was a great single dad student teacher romance. I did not want to put this book down once you I started it. A well written romance that has hot professor, single dad who is older. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Depravity was everything i thought it would be and more!! So many emotions ! I was saddened, intrigued, and content all at the same time! Superb story!!
One of my favorite tropes is single father romance. There is just something about the way they love their child. In addition, the vulnerability a single parent has is precious. Of course most, if not all, decisions in their lives are made with their child at the forefront. I can totally appreciate the way a single parent sacrifices their own needs/pleasure in life for their child. This book was great in that aspect. Of course, I will admit that while I do appreciate the previously mentioned personality traits, Miles was a bit gruff. He said the rudest comments. And often. I’m so glad that Sophie was mature because otherwise, I don’t think their relationship would have worked. She was thoughtful enough to understand his emotions, even if they frustrated her at times.
Miles and Sophie’s story is angsty. A quality I also appreciated was how believable their relationship was. The age gap between them was pretty big but that was not a problem for me. Their maturity was what I felt the most rather than the gap in age between them. I won’t say much more because this is a book you’ll enjoy reading on your own. However, I would like to add how much I adored Joey. He was the star of the show so many times. I just adored that little boy! Again, I absolutely love single fathers in romance!
I definitely recommend this book. I can’t wait to read what is coming next in the King University Series.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Jacob Chance blew all of my expectations out of the water. It meets everything i love about a forbidden romance: age-gap, intense attraction, the fight to try to resist the attraction, and the eventual its just too great we have to be with each other no matter what. Add in the fact that it is also student-professor, it’s a treasure trove full of forbidden romance lovers dreams.
Miles is a hot single dad who is understandably cautious after being betrayed and having his heart broken. He needs a sitter while he teaches a night class during the summer. Enter Sophie who is a hard working, determined girl who is saving up to start college in the fall. The way they meet each other is so great, you have to read to find out what happens.
I love how their relationship developed from their banter to friendship to the point where they just couldnt resist each other anymore.
And Joey, i mean kids are just always adorable and Joey is no exception and i loved seeing Sophie interact with him and Miles doing his dad duties is so swoon worthy.
An excellent opening book to the King University Series, I can’t wait for the other two and I’m already hopeful Jacob and Marley will decide to do more or even some spinoff series.
Nineteen year old Sophie takes a summer job baby-sitting her boss’ brother Miles’ little boy. Upon their first meeting things were rather awkward as her first impression of Miles was not good. Unfriendly, stern & stone-faced, Sophie plans to keep out of his way until she returns to college at the end of summer. But as the days pass she sees his cold exterior start to melt & seeing him interact with his son Joey has her feeling something more for Miles. And it seems Miles feels the same way but is fighting it. With so many obstacles in their way, will Miles fight for Sophie or push her away?
This was a great read with forbidden desires, age-gap, single parent, & teacher/student. I thought the author did a fantastic job stepping out of his norm & writing something different. Anxiously waiting for the second book!
Depravity definitely lives up to it’s title. Jacob Chance gives you older man/younger woman, a college professor/ student, and a single father, what more could you ask for. I loved reading and following Miles and Sophie’s story and look forward to reading the other books in the series.
5 Shining Stars!!! This book was so damn good. Forbidden romance at its finest. One of this Author’s best. And all of his books are amazing. So you can count one this one firing up your kindle!
noun: depravity; plural noun: depravities
1. moral corruption; wickedness.
This book’s title couldn’t be more perfect! It is jam packed with so much heat you’ll need a cold shower and extra panties! Depravity is a bit different than what Jacob typically releases. I love that he went more risqué but not over the top and kept true to the Jacob Chance writing we are used to! Humor, awesome banter, a touch of angst, and did I mention steamy scenes between a hot dad/professor and the babysitter/student! We get double the ‘taboo’ which makes this 5 star read double the fun! I highly recommend this awesome read!
WOWZA!
Jacob Chance hit this one out of the park.
A forbidden romance that is literary gold! This is everything you want in a taboo read and a bag of chips…well actually a cold shower. You’ll need one. Heat level is hot as hades!
Sexual tension/chemistry is off the charts.
However, Miles and Sophie have a much deeper connection as well.
Add in Joey, it’s perfect! You can’t help but fall in love.

Sophie and Miles will have your pulse pounding, your heart rate up and emotions all over place from the beginning to the end you won’t be able to stop reading and definitely wanting of these two. This has it all. A whole lot steam and taboo at its finest and single dad thrown in this story. Amazingly done with a whole of twist and turns you won’t expect or see. Can not what to read what he has next.
Okay have to say a little forbidden trysts sounds good when it comes by Jacob Chance. We have Miles aka Professor Decker embarking in a life he never expected to happen. Then we have a young college student, Sophie about to start a new life meeting this single farher was well an eye opener for her. The friendship is there but so is the attraction they deny. I loved that Jacob shows us more of Miles and not just on Sophie. For a college student she is very mature yet there is an impulsiveness in her just waiting for a man like Miles to let her loose. Loved it and King University is just the right place to see what you really made to be.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
This story is absolutely perfect. Miles and Sophie are absolutely adorable. This story will taking you on an emotional journey. I will say this is different from what the author usually writes, but in such a great way. I am beyond excited to have read this. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I absolutely recommend this book.
