One tall, dark, and broody professor + One overachieving college student = Chemistry they can’t erase. When I was asked to babysit for a single father, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Two months with Mr. tall, dark, and broody didn’t seem like a bad trade-off for the money he would pay me.As the weeks go by, our attraction grows and I realize what a concerned and caring father he is. … concerned and caring father he is. And he learns that not every woman is untrustworthy like his ex-wife.
We both agree to walk away from our fling when I leave for college at the end of summer.
And reluctantly, we do.
Until my first day of classes when he crashes back into my world.
“I’m Professor Decker. Welcome to King University.”
Depravity is part of the King University Series, but can be read as a complete standalone.

Okay, so I wouldn’t say any of this story falls under the category of depraved, it was more sweet than anything else, so the title annoyed me. I waited for depravity to happen and it just never did, for me. I think there can be levels, and one person’s definition of what is morally corrupt may be different than someone else’s so *shrug* this didn’t ring depraved to me. Also, the cover … I love it but it doesn’t scream Miles to me. What can I say, these things are peeves for me LOL
Alright, let’s talk about the journey/story. Nothing actually happened that was unexpected but that’s not a bad thing. It followed the rules lol From the pace to the timing of events to the events themselves, it all happened as it should. I expected them. And Miles and Sophie were characters I could root for. Sophie was a strong heroine. She was older than her age and I enjoyed that. There was no drama for drama here. Like I said, the story followed all the steps these types of stories usually take. And again, not a bad thing. Their relationship grew organically. It wasn’t something that was thrown at us from the beginning or even forced just to get the story going. That was the best part of this for me. I read a true journey with a bit of taboo on the side. And let me just say, when the sexy began, it was on!! So I liked it. A lot actually.
I’m eager for the next in this series. I’m intrigued and I want more!
I love this author`s sports romance books, so I was excited to see what this book was about. Imagine my surprise after reading the first few chapters! I have to say I have never had a hot professor in college, let alone a teacher~student affair. I completely understand why he has this tough exterior and has only focus on his son. Being a single parent myself, I only think of my daughter and providing for her the best I can. A young girl meets an older guy, the attraction is there for both of them. Does the age difference get in the way? Put these scenarios into a book and you have a hot hot read! A hot must read!
Forbidden romances are my favorite trope and this teacher/student story has definitely been added to my list of favorites! Miles and Sophie’s story was extremely delicious and yet touching and heart warming at times as well. Sophie is extremely mature for her age and it was so refreshing to see her handle a relationship with an older man, at times better than said older man! One thing that I haven’t read much of in this particular trope is the single father twist which made for some of the sweetest scenes ever and I hope we get to see glimpses of these characters in the future! This was my first read by Jacob Chance, but certainly won’t be my last!
4* Broody Sexy Stars
I love forbidden Student/Professor/Teacher Romances so I was excited to read the first in the King University Series. It certainly did not disappoint. I enjoyed that even though there was 14 years between Professor Miles Decker and Sophie, she was mature beyond her years, smart and showed no signs of infatuation with Miles. What Sophie felt was real and the love and care she showed to Miles’ 3 years old son Joey was heartfelt and sweet.
The chemistry between Miles and Sophie was palpable and both were very loveable and enjoyable to follow on their struggle to have the love they both so deserved.
I am looking forward to reading the next two books in the King University Series which also follow the forbidden love aspect and are all standalone.
Depravity by Jacob Chance is an entertaining take on the much loved student/teacher, and forbidden romance tropes.
Written with the usual flair, unique storylines, and attention to detail that you can find in any Jacob Chance novel, Depravity ups the ante, and takes the number one spot as Chance’s best book yet.
Filled with pages of undeniable chemsistry, entertaining banter, and perfectly imperfect love; Depravity kicks off the King University Series with a bang.
AMAZING! Well written story, I didn’t want to end. So, so Good! This is by far one of the best Jacob Chance books so far. This may be a story that is not something Jacob normally writes, but he does an excellent job! This is a sexy forbidden romance, age gap, and single father mixed into one fabulous story. I love the characters in this book. Jacob is a great storyteller.
Miles Decker is a college professor at King University who falls for his sons babysitter. Sophie Gardner takes a job for the summer to make extra money before she begins to start college. She has a strong attraction to Miles and makes an agreement that this only a temporary affair to end at the end of summer. What can go wrong?
You will fall in love with Miles and Sophie as a couple, but you will also fall for Miles little boy Joey as well. Strong characters, strong story, funny, romantic, great HEA. I did not want this book to end. I also love that Jacob intertwines characters from his other books in here you never know who’s going to pop up or be mentioned.
This is a great age gap/single dads story. I enjoyed reading Miles and Sophie’s journey to there HEA. Jacob kept this story interesting by having something pop up right when you thought there you go now you got it. Sophie felt a bit too mature for my liking but still enjoyed it and I love how we got to see the interaction with Joey
If you’re a fan of student/teacher trope (college level), single dad and age gap..then you’ve picked up the right book. Jacob might be one of the few male authors I’ve come across in the romance community and so I partly wanted to see what all the fuss is about. Well this book was a pleasant surprise to fuel that hype.
Professor Miles Decker is a man most women would dream about meeting in real life and the love he shows for his son gives him a million more bonus points. What I loved about this book is that it didn’t jump on the insta-love train and the author builds on the growing relationship between a single father and his babysitter. Sophie isn’t the typical party girl and the maturity she holds makes the relationship between these two so much more believable.
I was able to finish this book fairly quick and in one sitting. Depravity was my first introduction to Jacob Chance’s work and this book checked all the boxes for a pleasurable experience. You’ll get hit with some banter, angst, slow-burn, steaminess and of course a happily-ever-after to finish it off. I’ll be looking forward to continuing the series and won’t hold back from diving into another book from this author.

I read Book 2 of this “series” (by another author) before I read this one. I was curious to see how a different author would blend their story with the other one – one which I love, BTW. That was accomplished quite well and although I was happy to read Miles’s story, I found that there were things about the two main characters that I didn’t like. Miles is brilliant, successful and very attractive on every level. His ex-wife is a complete nightmare and that never works for me. It just made no sense to me that he would have married and then had a child with that woman – she was just too evil and narcissistic and in my view, over the top. Sophie initially appears very naive and innocent but before long, she takes the lead and becomes the aggressor and that didn’t quite fit for me either. Luckily, the heart of the story carries the reader through anyway and watching Sophie bond with Miles’s young son knowing that neither Miles nor Sophie realize how impossible staying away from each other will be gives readers all sorts of feels and a wonderful HEA. I love a series that brings characters in from other books with story lines that “cross” and both Jacob Chance and Marley Valentine succeeded in that, making these first two installments a joy to read. I do recommend this book.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
The only thing I can think to compare this book to is going on the tower of terror amusement ride without actually knowing you’re on it. The book will start off slowly progressing upward getting better and better until it reaches the highest point of happiness. Then before you can even blink it’s going to drop you so hard it will feel like your heart is falling out of your chest. And right before you reach what seems like the bottom you will be propelled back upwards only to be dropped again and again before finally making it to the bottom. And only when you have your feet firmly planted back on solid ground, will you fully appreciate the ride. So buckle up buttercup because this book is gonna take you on the ride of your life and if you’re anything like me you will be getting back in line to ride or read again!
Sophie is working all summer to save up for college and when her boss offers up an extra job as her nephew’s babysitter, she accepts. When she meets little Joey’s jerkwad of a dad, Miles, she questions whether this is the job for her. But as she sees firsthand how caring and sweet Miles is with Joey, she realizes he isn’t all that bad. And he’s quite cute, too. As time goes by and Miles and Sophie spend more time with each other, they grow feelings for each other. Neither of them is willing to act on their feelings because of their age difference. But after a few drinks, they find themselves in a compromising position and they have to decide to act on their feelings or suppress them. Sophie and Miles are on very different paths in life, so will it even work out if they do?
Okay, let me just say that the heartbreak in this book was inevitable. We all knew it was coming and hell even Sophie and Miles knew it was coming. BUT it still didn’t prepare me for the punch to the gut it delivered. I was completely broken for these characters. Jacob had me bawling like a big baby at the wee hours of the night clutching my kindle feverishly reading this book ugly crying for people who have become one of my favorite book couples. As Miles reassured himself that everything would be okay and they had to be apart, I was trying desperately to convince myself that there was no way possible Jacob would let us down and leave them without an HEA. And damn if it didn’t get even more complicated making me question whether they actually would get a happy ending. Rest assured there is definitely light at the end of the super long tunnel of emotional distress. And their story is definitely one that you want to see completely play out.
To say this book took me on a roller coaster of emotions would be an understatement. It completely shook me at times. So much so that I found myself having to take a break from reading because I wanted so badly for these characters to be together and there were so many obstacles. But it was one of if not my absolute, favorite books by Jacob Chance. I have recently found myself getting stuck in reading ruts because sometimes romance books lack mystery and the amount of angst I desire. This book completely fired me up and was every bit of what I needed folded into the pages of another amazing Jacob Chance book. It reminded me of why I love his writing so much. Now please excuse me while I go recover from this exhausting, in the best way possible, book.
Not quite as depraved as I hoped
Clearly, I’m getting jaded in my reader ways because I don’t think the title should be Depravity. There is nothing depraved about this book. There’s an age gap, a “forbidden” romance but nothing depraved.
It’s a sweet but naughty second chance romance. Depravity is the start of a series and I look forward to the rest.
I wanted to like it…
To begin the inner monologue ranged from poetic to over drawn with redundant statements.
It had a great prologue but after it just became the constant of am too old, and heroine’s I want him and then I feel in love already was the rest of the book, the steam scene happens till 50% 1st break around 65 or so and real conflict at 80%
So while there was some back and forth after 50% mark I personally feel this book had potetial to be better if we cut out the most of the inner mussings, but this offcourse is just this readers opinion.
My apologies to author, just because your style isn’t for me doesn’t mean others won’t love it, please don’t allow my opinion to discourage you.
I really enjoyed this read. First there’s the age gap between Sophie and Miles, giving the story that delicious edge. And then there’s also the forbidden student-teacher dynamics. Great really.
This is my first encounter with Jacob Chance’s writing and I didn’t even notice that the author is in fact a guy before I decided to write the review. In my experience, it’s really unusual for male authors to write F/M romance. And if they do, the main female character is more often than not depicted as one part pornstar and one part 50’s housewife. But Chance did a great job portraying Sophie by writing her as an actual human being(!!!) with the thoughts, wants and feelings that go along with that.
I read Depravity back to back and loved it. It’s great entertainment with some really hot and panty-melting scenes. It’s absolutely worth your time if you’re in the mood for a romance with some nice naughty. However, there are a few things that lowered the overall reading experience. First and foremost, it’s the fact that the actual student-teacher scenario didn’t occur until the very end of the book. Don’t get me wrong, it was a fun, sexy read up until that point too, but in the blurb to this book, the fact that Miles is Sophie’s teacher is quite prominent. Also, the expected ensuing drama was frankly disappointing. As was the resolution of said drama. Unfortunately, this is very usual within this genre, but it’s still disappointing every time it happens. To rush that final sh*t-storm that all good stories need before the HEA is a big mistake since it’s so very anticlimactic. To really appreciate the high, you need a good long look at the low first. So to speak. In Depravity, the final drama more or less fizzled out without really becoming that big of a thing in the first place. But, there’s plus points for two long epilogues. I love those. That way of prolonging the HEA is just great.

Outstanding read
Depravity by Jacob Chance was so much more than I imagined it to be.
Sophie never thought of the man she met as anything but arrogant, until the day she wanted him.
He was caring, hot and extremely intelligent.
What happened next shocked them both, two worlds clashing in one of the worst ways. Will they find a way to be together and resolve the conflict that presents itself, or will they push each other away?
I was so addicted to Sophie’s personality and Miles affection towards her.
I was totally enchanted with this book and was glad to love every minute of it.
This book had me on my toes at every turn and I’m so glad it did.
It comes highly recommended.
Great sexy read! Forbidden Professor/Student HOT romance.
I like it. The first half is awesome. The second half tends to get a little routine with explicit scenes and descriptions. Had the author confined it to an emotional read rather than converting it into an erotic read, it would have gotten no less than 5 stars from me. That said, the writing is beautiful. I love the banter between Miles and his friends from the King.
Miles Decker, 33 a much older, off-limits man. My boss’ brother, features sharp enough to cut glass and single dad to Joey He’s unbelievably adorable with blue eyes like his father and a curly mop of brown hair.
Sophie Gardner, 19, “By the way, I’m not that young. I’ll be twenty in a few months.” looks Cute. Adorable. Sweet. Tiny. Shrimp. Peanut.
Sophie manages to land a full scholar at King University and to be able to have some spending money took a gap year to save up. When the opportunity arises, she grabs the wel paid job, babysitting Professor Miles Decker’s 3-year old son, Joey.
With sexual attraction riding high between Miles & Sophie, they agree to have a hot summer fling “You and I can start this sex only relationship, but it ends when you leave for school. That is an absolute must for me. I won’t have you go off to college pining for something that will never be.”
I loved the bantering between Miles & Sophie, building quite the tension between them.
The secondary characters were awesome, Miles’s friends Tanner and Sam proved to be his real friends. And Sophie’s brothers Luca and Chaz , I do think they deserve their own book.
But for now I’m looking forward to the second book, Cole Huxley’s story Devilry
After Miles’ life is upended, he’s determined to make the best of things, beginning with making sure his baby boy never lacks for love and support. When his sister finds him a baby sitter, he’s pretty hardnosed about the rules, even if she does make him have inappropriate thoughts. However, as he slowly gets to know Sophie, he sees her for the mature, dedicated woman that she is and attraction becomes so much more.
Sophie has worked hard to get into King University. This last summer she needs to make enough money to serve her throughout the next year so she can dedicate herself to her studies alone. Getting involved with not only an older man, but the father of the little boy she takes care of, is not in the plans. But soon she’s not only changing her plans, she wants to expand them. If only it were that easy.
I loved this trio of characters. Miles and Sophie were so good together despite the age difference. She was a mature heroine with mature goals and focused on her future. Her interactions with Joey, Miles’ son, was so freaking adorable as were any times Joey was in the scene. Miles was a wonderful hero who had been misused and yet was still able to open his heart up to Sophie despite the inevitable end.
”And I know in another time and place I’d never let her go. But I love Sophie enough to do what’s best for her. Even if I’ll break my own heart in the process.”
The student/teacher aspect doesn’t really kick in until much later in the book which ushers in a good bit of angst along with it. And that angst just about killed me! FYI: King University really doesn’t play a large part of the plot. Personally, I was okay with that. The pace is fast and the heat is HOT. I was aggravated every time I had to set this one aside and was trying to sneak in a page here and there whenever I could. This is my first book by this author and I’m looking forward to checking out the other book(s) in this series!

Cat nip, baby!
What a fun book! The best of all my favorite tropes, written so well it all seems fresh and new! Sophie, Miles and Joey are wonderful characters, loved this book!
