Welcome to Hathaway House, a heartwarming military romance series from USA TODAY best-selling author Dale Mayer. Here you’ll meet a whole new group of friends, along with a few favorite characters from Heroes for Hire. Instead of action, you’ll find emotion. Instead of suspense, you’ll find healing. Instead of romance, … oh, wait. … There is romance—of course!Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab … Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.
Navy SEAL Denton Hamilton has checked himself into Hathaway House, hoping for a fraction of the results his friends have gotten at the rehab center. Now missing a rib, muscles and a portion of his stomach, as well as suffering from PTSD, Denton would be happy to have his physical self healed. He’s not so sure he’ll ever get his mental health back, and finding a woman who’ll have him now—as his friends have been lucky enough to do—is out of the question. Who would be willing to love a man like him?
Administrative Assistant Hannah Forsythe helps Dani run Hathaway House. A loner at heart, she’s drawn to Denton’s struggle and dismayed at his belief that no one could ever love him. But when an ill-advised observation she makes has unexpected consequences for Denton’s recovery, Hannah’s only choice is to separate herself from him to help him progress without her.
As time passes, Hannah wonders if her choice has cost her everything she’s ever wanted or whether Denton can work through his feelings to give them both their happy ending at Hathaway House.
Hathaway House: Denton (Book 4)
more
Denton is being transferred to Hathaway House to finish his rehab after suffering serious injuries. His two Seal brothers are already there so he is thrilled to be going somewhere that he knows people. Holly works at Hathaway House and the two meet and get along. Denton has found out that his buddies have found love at the House and he hopes the same happens to him. Holly has always been a loner and the two become close talking out their problems with getting along with people. Denton thinks Holly should go out of her way more to become friends with people and Holly thinks Denton needs to expand his circle of friends. Although a well written book it was not my type of book. If you like to explore people talking out their feelings this is the story for you.

Book 4 at the Hathaway House is Dentons and Hannahs story. **These contemporary stories are G rated ** This can be read as a stand alone with no problem. This one is more a self evaluation and relationship book. Questions a wounded, Seal with PTSD, Denton, has based on his life. The questions Hannah the Administrative Asst has on her life, friendships (or lack there of) . They each see the opposite of themselves in each other. As they get to know each other and feelings change, there are more questions, searching and a HEA. This book to me underscores the feeling of a small village that the Hathaway House represents with the employees, the patients (two and 4 legged) as they struggle, some working to do the right thing for others, some struggling to do right by themselves. I truly hope there is a place like this in the world for our wounded. Thank you for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Donors have paid for Denton’s medical rehab costs at Hathaway House and he is most grateful and ready to receive their help. He is especially excited about seeing two of his friends, Brock and Cole, who are recovering there. He has been cautioned about pushing to hard and suffering a setback as Cole had done. Denton is looking forward to bettering his physical and mental health at this new facility.
He is delighted to see his two friends, however there has been a change in them as they have found love as well as recovery at Hathaway house and Denton is reluctant to interfere in any way with their happiness. He meets Hannah who is the admin assistant and his story of life at the new place adds more challenge. Hannah is a loner who has difficulty making friends, a bright and interesting lady, mildly dyslexic, adapt at helping others but not always able to help herself. So I found this story much about friendship, how it works and how your past and personality play a big part in developing such a relationship. How making and keeping friends comes so easily and naturally to some but not to others.
Of course there is Stan who runs the vet clinic and plays a role in all these stories. The animals, some with prosthetic limbs and other problems, contribute to the healing of people as well as find themselves a home.
Some of the descriptions (though well done) of the injuries and challenges may cause some discomfort, however, the love, loyalty and compassion will more than make up for it.
I truly meant to have caught up with this series before this book came out, unfortunately I wasn’t able to. However I never let that stop me from reading the latest of a series.
Hannah is Dani’s assistant and she is almost as overworked as Dani. Her duties are varied and she is the one who welcomes Denton to Hathaway House and gives him all the information he’s going to need. A bit overwhelming but also everything is on the tablet and phone he is issued. There’s also a folder with much of it.
Hannah also helps with the animals in the Vet Clinic downstairs. There’s a new addition that appears to be a walk-in, that causes a bit of commotion.
Hannah also has slight dyslexia and that becomes the beginning of her friendship with Denton when the numbers in his phone for his friends Cole and Brock don’t work.
I love the progression, both for Denton as a patient and for him and Hannah as a new couple. These two are great together!
I really have to catch up with Brock and Cole now. I feel like I’ve missed a lot. Oh and I wonder what happened with the walk-in cat…I hope it finds a permanent place here at Hathaway House.
This is the fourth book in the Hathaway House series, the storyline is sweet and romantic while dealing and overcoming personal medical trauma.
Denton comes to Hathaway House to recover and heal from some serious injuries while on active duty, his two best friends are already there. He meets shy and sweet Hannah, who is a loner and they quickly bond.
The characters are amazingly likable while they have their own flaws to overcome. The story with well thought out and has a delightful HEA.

Hathaway House is the place people go for rehabilitation. You could be former military or just an everyday person coming back from a traumatic injury and surprise, broken animals can be fixed here as well. The professional staff is excellent and work together for each individual patient.
Denton has lots of muscle damage in his leg which was repaired by taking some of his back muscle and replacing his leg muscles. Hannah is administration assistant to Dani, owner of Hathaway House.
Denton is an extrovert making friends easily while Hannah is an introvert with acquaintances but no close friends. These two are drawn together and end up complimenting each other. Another great love story from this author

The first thing I enjoyed about this book was that Denton was grateful for the opportunity to be at Hathaway House. His pride at receiving charity wasn’t going to stop his progression. Hannah, you could feel her loneliness. I’ve felt that loneliness. Hit a little close to home
Two broken souls come together from opposite sides of the coin, one 1/2 glass full and the other 1/2 glass empty takes you on a journey of discovery seeing all different levels of friendships from lonely to friends that are more than brothers, growing from the past and into something great for a future they never seen coming. A very heart felt story showing real everyday events and how each handles them. 2 very different people grow together, takes a chance on love and wins. Another great story in this series.
Opening to Love … Denton, a disabled SEAL, is ready to make the next step in his recovery and join his friends at the Hathaway House. Denton starts reflecting on his dependence on his friendship after he meets the independent and reserved Hannah. In return, Hannah wants to open herself to friendship especially with Denton. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I enjoy reading this series on healing with a dash of romance. This book focused more on introspection of their friendships rather than physical healing. There was a mention of wounded women veterans at the center and I hope that one of the books in the series will focus on that. I like that this book had me reflecting on how much I opened myself to people. I really liked this book.
Another fabulous read from this series. These guys come to Hathaway House to recover from not just their injuries but all the emotions connected to whatever happened and how they feel about those injuries and how it affects the rest of their lives. Will they be able to get strong enough to do a job of some kind? will they ever find the love and support of someone special even if they have setbacks? this place deals with the whole range, the physical, the mental and the diet. This would be a place that if real would be in massive demand. As well as all that there’s the animals, some just as injured as the human patients, all need love just as much as the treatments. Seeing this is also a big boost to both, the cuddles really help. This story is about all that but its also about friendship, having or not having, learning not to abuse that precious commodity, finding equal balance between taking and giving support and love. Of course there is also romance, even if it is in the usual sense of the word. I am loving this series, it is different and opened my eyes to things I hadn’t really thought about as to how injuries affect such strong alpha males used to being the best and strongest they can possibly be, the struggle back just to get to a certain level of fitness to be able to cope back in society and find a career very different to that they were doing. Amazingly intense but inspiring read.
Hathaway House is a place of healing. For Denton it is a place for him to grow, to regain lost physical abilities and put many issues in perspective. It is there that he meets Hannah and realizes that perception vary with the beholder. It is as much about emotional healing as it is physical healing and many of the wounds happened before the actual injuries he received as a Navy SEAL. This is book 4 of the Hathaway House series and each book gets that much better. Well done, Dale Mayer.

Denton and Hannah are becoming friends, which is easy for one but not the other.
Hannah isn’t good at making friends, after losing a friend when she was very young. Denton makes friends easily, and Hannah wonders if he relies too heavily on his friends.
Denton and Hannah both work on trying to do the opposite, which made me a little nervous.
I was afraid they were going to sabotage their new friendship with their little experiment.
Hathaway House.. a place of healing bodies, hearts, and souls.
I love this series!

I am so in love with series. It has all he marks of a fantastic read with a gritty storyline, great characters and a will it or won’t it ending. Hannah works on the reception but is a jack of all trades within Hathaway house. She greats the newest resident, Denton, and because of his friendship with Cole and Brock it makes Hannah reevaluate her lack of friends. So between the they have a deal, Denton has to be independent without his friends and Hannah needs to make friend connections. When lines are crossed and Hannah feels guilty it’s not a four gone conclusion that it will have a HEA. I loved straight talking Denton but I did feel sorry for Hannah when she couldn’t interpret what Denton said. A great book and I am looking forward to Elliot’s book.
Hathaway House seems like the perfect place if you need to recuperate from serious injuries and Denton is very relieved when he manages to get one of the very sort after places. He finds Hannah, who is assistant to Dani the part owner and manager, and is instantly attracted to her.
How their relationship develops is written with great skill and empathy and makes for a lovely book and one I thoroughly enjoyed.
Dale is always giving the readers a view from the wounded warriors point of view. So many worry if they are worthy of help or coming back from what they lost. Enjoyed reading Denton’s journey thru rehab and finding his love and his best friends Brock and Cole. It takes bravery for these men to power thru their injuries to become more useful in society and their love lives. Fantastic Story.
Supporting
Of the SEALs we’ve already met at Hathaway House, Denton seems the most in touch with his inner self. Close friends since SEALs training, Brock and Cole were already there when he arrived, and he is thrilled to reunite with them and get their advice and support for success in his recovery program. His physical challenges, though, are more complicated than theirs. In addition to missing back and calf muscles and a bottom rib, he has also lost part of his stomach, so he deals with food sensitivities and blood sugar issues as well.
As Dani’s recently-hired assistant, Hannah has been a huge help with paperwork and orienting new patients. She was instrumental in helping Denton get settled in, providing information on the place, how the teams work, and where to find his schedule on the tablet provided to him.
Brock’s and Cole’s support were very important to him in getting through the rigors of SEAL training and their bond remains strong. He values their experiences for successful recovery in setting goals for his own, and Hannah questions the wisdom of Denton’s reliance on his friends. Her own experience have been to rely on herself pretty much exclusively, with the result being that she feels unsuccessful in making close friends, even within her group of Hathaway House coworkers. Should she try to convince Denton to become more independent by distancing himself from his friends? Or, will Denton convince Hannah that having supportive, caring friendships is not as difficult as she thinks? What do you think?
