Harry has no illusions about himself. He looks in the mirror and sees a fat, ugly bloke who’s gone stale at the age of thirty-five. He wasn’t always like this–in his early twenties, he was into clubbing, dating, just like any other gay guy in London–but since he moved in to look after his mum, and her subsequent death, he’s let himself go. Besides, there’s no one to make an effort for, so why … bother, right?
Then a construction site worker starts whistling at him every morning on his way to the office…
Tony thinks Harry is one of the sexiest bears he’s ever seen. But when he finally gets to talk to Harry, Tony soon realizes that getting to know him is going to take some effort. Not that the prospect puts him off‒Tony loves a challenge, and he’s not about to give up on Harry.
Two ordinary men. Real life. Real-life situations. And love….

Denim by K.C. Wells and narrated by Seb Yarrick was given to me in exchange for an honest review. Harry, an office worker, has been stuck in a rut and unable to find the energy to get himself out of it. Tony, a construction worker, finds himself attracted to the bear of a man who walks by his construction site everyday. He tries to get his attention by whistling at him. But Harry believes it is aimed at his coworker Deb because who would find him attractive. Tony then takes matters into his own hands and asks Harry out. Harry reluctantly says yes and finds that he is glad he did. I enjoyed this book with Seb as the narrator. These two characters were made for one another even though it took a while for Harry to realize he was good enough for himself and for Tony.
This was a beautiful love story with amazingly real & extremely lovable protagonists!
I don’t quite know where to start in describing how wonderful this book was! I was actually a bit disappointed when I reached the end… Book hangovers are the worst!
Harry’s life is in a rut. He’s gone through a rough patch and after that, time and his looks have gotten away from him, or so he believes. He has a negative body image and low self-esteem, which makes him very easy to relate to and root for. Poor Harry, who hasn’t been you at some point…?
And Tony… oh Tony:-) I loved you from your very first whistle at the cute, oblivious bear walking by!
Tony’s quite dogged in his pursuit of Harry, though not in stalkerish way 🙂 Harry makes him work for it at first, because he can’t bring himself to believe Tony’s sincere in his interest.
When Harry first mentions his “boyfriend” to one of his co-workers, I was so thrilled at his new-found confidence and happiness! And that’s what a great book does, it draws us in and makes us care for the characters in it.
There’s no big drama or angst in this book, but I didn’t feel as if there needed to be.
The writing was superb! I loved the light humor, quips and especially the subtle Oscar Wilde reference.
This was an amazing love story. Harry and Tony have intense chemistry and are incredibly sweet together. Can’t recommend this enough.

Another great story from KC Wells!
Denim is the fourth book in the Material World series but it is also a standalone story. The Material World books are connected by theme not by characters or storyline.
I love that this story is about Harry, who doesn’t necessarily have the perfect body, and Tony who comes to love him just the way that he is. I love reading books that are about “average” looking people just as much as I like reading about all of the hot, perfect body ones.
This book made me tear up in a couple of places which was perfect as I like books that get my emotions involved. The blurb really tells you everything else you need to know but I also have to say how much I love the tag line for this one: “Two ordinary men. Real life. Real-life situations. And love….”
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Adorable, sweet romance, total English humour
Harry, overweight, stodgy 35 gay male, who’s let himself go after his mother’s death, not looking for a relationship as he knew no one would be interested in him.
Tony, life on a construction site could be boring but watching people as they pass by kept me amused. And then I saw him, the bear, so I whistled at him.
I loved how Tony restores Harry’s self-esteem. This is a wonderful book that shows you don’t need to be a sculptured man hunk to catch the eye of a man hunk. A great HEA.
Great narration from Seb Yarrick. Although, like normal I listened at 1.25 speed on audible.

Denim is a story that touches the heart of readers, it is also a real life struggle people face on a daily basis. Learning to appreciate yourself, inside and out despite what others may think of you can be a challenge and it can be the greatest reward.
K.C. Wells writes a few books which resonates with real life experience and the perceptions of one’s self being as well as self worth.
Thank you K.C. Well I’ve enjoy this series thus far, and looking forward to move of your work.
Thanks Seb Yarrick for the excellent narration.
Harry takes each day as it comes, he sticks to daily schedule, his quiet bus trip to work, the clothes he wears, shopping, cleaning, the kind of beer he drinks, the days he goes out with his work mates etc., until a construction worker took notice of him.
Tony, a construction worker sees Harry as a beautiful, sexy, handsome bear of a man, he had no preconception of what kind of person he wants or what kind of person Harry is. He took the initiative to get the man he wants, first by a wolf whistle, then he over heard Harry’s work mates were heading to a bar for games and drinks, he goes to the bar and there he made his move.
These two characters suits each other and I’m happy they found each other
The fourth book in K.C. Wells’ A Material World series, Denim has a flavor all its own. Incredibly funny, sinfully sexy, and with a lovely message about positive body image, Denim is a thoroughly enjoyable, feel-good romance.
This story comes across beautifully in audio. Seb Yarrick’s voice is adorable and just perfect for these characters. He makes the sexy bits so sexy (the way he pronounces tongue is just delicious. He blew my mind in Silk and I’m going to recommend that one in audio too).
This is a fast paced novel, and Mr. Yarrick keeps it rolling along smoothly. Plus, there’s a wide variety of British accents in Denim and Mr. Yarrick keeps each one distinct, and he does a wonderful job with Tony’s Spanish mother.
Denim is incredibly funny, and Seb Yarrick totally gets Ms. Wells’ sense of humor. I love that dry British wit, and the tongue-in-cheek sass. The humor, delicious erotica, and touching, heartfelt message, make Denim a winner!
The best one yet!!!
I ha e loved this series from the start but I have to say this one car exceeds the rest. Tony and Harry are such great characters. Realistic and yet fantasy inducing as well. Hello it’s a bear and a construction worker. I am so there for that. Then you add Harry’s insecurities as well as Tony’s. Yes they both have them but Harry dwells on his. I love these guys so much. The emotional journey was on more than one level and so expertly written. As with all of K. C. Well’s books, I laughed, cried, and had all the warm feels I’ve come to expect from her work. This one though but on a personal level so it has a closer spot in my heart.

I can be short about this. I loved this story. It was sweet and sexy and a bit sad, but most of all it was just plain fun.
This is the fourth book in the series, and once again completely different from the other three. That is the power of K.C. Wells’ writing. She can write about everything, and all her books are coming out shining and brilliantly.
Harry is a loner, especially after his mother’s death. Take into account that he is self-conscious about his stature. He is big, hairy, and a bit heavy. Not really boyfriend material, but for Tony he is just perfect. He happens to like bears, and he won’t let Harry forget it. I can so relate to what is going through Harry’s mind. Am I good enough? What does he see in me? Yup, I know it by heart. K.C. Wells describes it perfectly without going over the top. You never know what triggers your self-doubt, but that it is there is a given. But with the right partner beside you, it can also give you that boost to ánd do something about it ánd be content with yourself. And for Harry, Tony is just that man. He is so sweet and relentless in his pursuit of Harry.
I absolutely adored these two men. They are just so real and genuine, living a normal life with normal day-to-day worries and problems Don’t let this fool you that this is a boring story. On the contrary, it gave me all the feels and warmed my heart. The dry humor had me grinning throughout the book. And the sex is smoking. Talking about chemistry. It takes a great author to turn the mundane into a delightful, sexy, and cute book with all the feelings.
This is the fourth book in the A Material World series and can be read as a stand-alone.
4.5 stars
Such a sweet read with lots of sexy. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 stars is cause Harry’s self deprecating comments got tiredsome. Especially when Tony kept telling him over and over that he thought he was sexy but other than that it was a great story. The characters were wonderful and had fantastic chemistry. I was drawn in from the start and listened to it all at once.
Narration 4 stars
The narrator had a pleasant reading voice and kept good pace and expressed the different emotions well and seemed age appropriate. The characters voices were varied enough that I didn’t confuse who was speaking. I enjoyed the narrator and would definitely recommend them. The only reason I didn’t rate the narration 5 stars is cause I was confused by the English accent. Especially in the moments where Tony would leap into talking Spanish. I couldn’t definitely figure out in my head how the characters were suppose to sound.
Bears love denim
A feel good story about a confident construction worker in denim and an unsuspecting bear who doesn’t know how sexy his body type is
As always K.C. Wells writes a beautiful real life romance which touch your heart and make you happy. And the superb narration by Seb Yarrick makes the characters come to life and add another dimension to it.
Denim is a wonderful standalone romance that fits within the Material World series. This book really touched my heart – Harry deals with body image issues (something I could relate to very well) and can hardly believe that the hot construction worker is flirting with him. Tony was such a sweet and blunt guy – I really liked how honest he was in his attraction and wooing of Harry. They made a wonderful couple and their support and love for each other made this book extremely enjoyable.
The audiobook was narrated by Seb Yarrick who did a great job. All the characters were voiced perfectly with just the right amount of emotion and energy. I thought this audiobook was really engaging and it kept me wrapped up in the story. The audiobook production was nicely done as well.
An Entertaining & Heartfelt Delight! Awesome Story & Listen
Denim
A Material World, Book 4
By: K.C. Wells
Narrated by: Seb Yarrick
I loved this book, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it for the entire book. K.C. Well is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, her novels are entertaining and easy to get lost in. “Denim” is a great addition to her “Material World” series of stand alone books and is definitely one of my favorites. I adored the two lead characters Harry and Tony, both are likable, easy to relate to and connect with. Harry a 35 year old office worker has insecurities, he feels like he let himself go and is a bit out of shape. He fell out of touch with his friends when she became his Mother’s caretaker, she has since past but he has not incentive to take care of himself. Tony, a smoking hot construction worker, takes interest in Harry and he does not understand why. With some effort Tony convinces him he is interested and they go out together. I though these two were great together and perfect for each other, Tony was patient with Harry and helped with his insecurities and self image issues, even showing him how he sees him. This book is a heartfelt delight, the story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, lots of emotional moments all leading to a wonderful romance. K.C. Wells, thank you for another amazing story, I loved every word of it!
And for the fabulous narration, Sen Yarrick is a talented narrator and versatile voice artist. He brings these these characters to life, gives each their own unique voice making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He does an awesome job portraying each character, grasps their persona as well as all their emotions a believable and natural way so they sound just as I picture them to sound. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen
