I have to be brave, they’re watching.I was a pretty normal seventeen-year-old girl, until my dad found out I had powers… He shipped me off to the most famous school for powered people in the world, Hero High. Now I have to live at the Super Structure, and let cameras follow me round every day. I never knew how many expectations we had for powered people; clothes, personalities, fake romances. It’s … personalities, fake romances. It’s okay though, I’m making money for the family and besides, my best friend Jake’s with me.
This place is crazy.
There’s a guy on fire, running around, menacing the city. To make things worse there’s this weirdo in a black suit and mask.
I have to find out who they are, and what they’re doing here.
No matter the cost.
Denial is book 1 of the Hero High series, is approximately 150pages long and is set in the near future world of Icon City, a haven for powered one-percenters.

Denial (Hero High Book 1)
By Mina Chara
5 out of 5 stars
The story Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara is a book that had me hooked and wondering what was going to happen next. It pulled me in, and I found myself at the end wishing for a few more chapters. It is the story of a girl who has been placed in Hero High by her father. She is 17, is opinionated, has powers, and not shy about what she says or does. Things seem to happen around her and as she tries to settle into school, she finds herself in several situations that make her wonder just what is going on in the city. Read this book for the full story. This is a fast-paced story. It takes you to a school where powered people live and train. The character that you follow seems to follow her own drum and is finding out that strange things are happening around her. I like the idea of a school for those with powers and it would be an interesting and exciting place to be. The other characters who interact with the main character are interesting and I enjoyed the interactions that occur. This is a book that I would recommend reading.

Hero high is a young adult fantasy. It is a story of a young girl who is learning about her powers and is sent to a school to learn how to use her powers. This is a fast moving read, full of information I feel we will need in the following books. Along with learning to use her powers and discovering who she is it is also being filmed. A Lot going on but well worth the time no matter what age you are.
It will draw you in and keep you there.
This novel by Mina Chara was really good. Today, Superheroes are a really big deal. Maybe they have always been a big deal, just ask any young boy with a comic book collection. What made this book interesting was the fact that it is a book about superheroes just starting out. They are all young and new to their superhero attributes. Mina Chara included in her story some adventure and suspens which made for a very interesting read. I look forward to continuing the adventure in the next installment of Mina Chara’s series.
Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara was a great quick read. The pacing is fast and the introductions done quickly. I pictured the story as a comic book while I was reading and enjoyed it tremendously. I think this is a great young adult read and opens a few doors to have discussions with your kids if they read it. My son is too young but I am trying early on to turn him into a reader so I can understand how his brain works. I loved the setting, the characters, and the plots presented. I look forward to more from this series!
Mina Chara is a new author for me. This was a relatively short book, 3 chapters is all- but so full of information without being info overload. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens next. This book is about Friday Fitzsimmons and her beginning at Hero High. Throughout the book you meet new people who influence her in both positive and negative ways.Friday leaves her home, basically kicked out by her father, to get money for her family. She’s always wanted to be a hero, even if she doesn’t think her power is very good. It’s a quick read but very detailed. I enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next installment. There are so many different questions that she left open ended, I have no doubt the next books will be just as amazing.

Denial is book 1 of the Hero High series and is set in the near future world of Icon City which is a haven for ‘powered one-percenters’. The story centres around seventeen year old Friday who is in her first year at Hero High, a famous school for people with powers. She has to live within the super structure and she has cameras following her around all the time. The school has very high expectations of its powered pupils but thankfully Friday has best friend Jake with her to help her settle in. Although this is a short story it packs a lot in and is a great start to the Hero High series. It has a fast paced storyline and the world building is well done, as I felt immersed in Icon City. I liked the main characters, Friday and Jake, and all the secondary characters were fascinating too and I look forward to them getting their own stories during the series.
Hero High Denial is the first book I’ve read by Mina Chara and it didn’t disappoint, young adults will love this book. The descriptions and scene mapping were so detailed which always helps me be able to see the story rather than just follow it so I really loved that quality. The first page had me interested in the story plot and I just couldn’t wait to see where the it went and how the characters would progress in Hero High. This is a new world and new age of superheroes to explore and fall in love with, anyone who enjoys the young adult genre will find this book satisfying. Now I can’t wait to read book 2….
This is the first book I have read from this author and I am now hooked. This is the first book from the Hero High series and what a perfect start to a series. I was excited when I started this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down until the end. These characters hooked me into their story and I can’t wait to read more.
Friday is like your normal seventeen year old. She had friends and family but when her dad finds out she has a super power he ships her to a special school. Friday is shipped to the number one hero school, Hero High. She is now in a more structured environment that she doesn’t like. Friday also has to be filmed everyday but at least she has her best friend by her side. She is surprised when she finds out what it takes to be a superhero. Friday doesn’t have the time because this man that is on fire is making trouble and Friday needs to find out why. Will Friday fit into her new school or will she be the outcast?
This story was fast moving full of action. It is in the genre of YA but do not let that sway you away from this book. It is full of people with special powers. It takes place in Icon City, a have for powered one-percenters. How could you go wrong? You are among people who have special abilities like you. There are some different people who seem to be annoying. Will she ( the main character) figure out what is going on? Can her and Jake(best friend) survive this new school? I recommend this story to find out this and other amazing details.
Hero High, Denial, by Mina Chara is a wonderful superhero story. This story is fast paced, action packed, and full of sass all the way through! From the first page you’re thrown into it, and it keeps you until you’ve read the whole book! I look forward to starting the second installment in the Hero High Series, Anger. I loved Mina’s writing style and I can’t wait to dive back into the world of Hero High!
Denial is the first book in the Hero High series by Mina Chara. I haven’t read her work before, but I enjoyed this book. At first I thought it was going to be cheesy because of the names of the city and characters. They were not very original, using names like Super Structure, Hero High, and Captain Fantastic. Despite that, I am glad I stuck out the story because I ended up loving it. Its a great start to a series that I think will be awesome. The writing style is very descriptive and you feel like you’re right there alongside the characters. It seems like The Incredibles meets XMen, and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
The book follows 17 year old Friday, who has powers. She is shipped off to Hero High, which is a school for those with powers, but doubles as a reality show. They are followed by cameras, and merchandise is made to look like them and sold in the malls. These super kids are assigned a team and a mentor, have their wardrobes picked for them, the whole nine yards. Friday is trying to stay in the shadows, but keeps finding herself in the spotlight.

Denial is the first book in the Hero High series written by Mina Chara and it’s the first book that I have read by this author. This is a fast-paced story that takes you to a school where powered people live and train. The main character Friday seems to follow her own drum and is finding out that strange things are happening around her. The secondary characters and the main character are interesting, and I enjoyed the interactions and their quirks.
Friday’s father finds out she has powers, so he sends her to the most famous school for powered people in the world, Hero High. Now she has to live at the Super Structure, and let cameras follow her round every day. She never knew how many expectations they had for powered people. Does she fit in? Dos she wants to be a superhero. Can she live with the cameras following her daily?
You will need to read this story to find out.

Denial (Hero High book 1) by Mina Chara is a 3.5 star read.
This is the story of Friday Fitzsimmons who went off to hero high when she was 17, she met and spent some time with her hero Captain Fantastic, she doesn’t really have an active power so is trying to figure out how she can become a superhero.
This is my first book by this author and while it wasn’t one of my favourite books I couldn’t put the book down and read it all in one sitting.
This was a great little adventure. Even though its just 150 pages long it has everything a great book needs and leaves the reader wanting more.
Friday is sent to Hero High to train to be a superhero. However its not all plain sailing. Every where she turns she gets into trouble.
Friday is trying to prove herself but there is a lot of distractions. The main one being who is the person they are calling the Figure in the Flames?
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed it from page one to the very end. It was a short story so I got through it pretty quickly. The characters really brought this story to life and they’re what made this story good. The main character had powers that get her sent away to school. She needs to learn all she can especially about the others around her. I cannot wait to see what else this author had in store for us and I am looking forward to reading more of this series. I would recommend this to a friend.
Happy Reading!
Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara is a Young Adult fantasy story. It is fast paced and a lot happens as we follow along with the students, future heroes and past heroes who also happen to be a television reality show as well. Friday sets out to be a hero but lives in the background but she unwittingly finds herself in the thick of things as the story unravels. I enjoyed the story and can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Denial (Hero High Book 1) by Mina Chara. This is a fun coming of age fantasy book. Its the story of a 17 year old girl who has powers and as soon as her dad found out he sends her to Hero High, one of the most famous schools for powered people. She has to live at Super Structure and let cameras follow her every move. The school tells her what to wear, what kind of personality to have, who to hang out with and who to fake a romance with. That is a lot to deal with but they are compensated by being paid. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and you will feel like you are right there with the kids!
Denial by Mina Chara a four-star read that you won’t be able to deny. This is number one in the Hero High series and shows promise for the rest of the series, this was such a short read, I latterly started it thinking I would read a couple of pages and then start some work, but I started it and finished it and then started the work. Friday is the main character and she will make you smile, she is such a firecracker, watching her story will just keep you hooked. The rest of the series cant come son enough as I want to see what will happen next.
Futuristic meets YA meets mystery. A fast paced story with an interesting concept. We have Friday who finds out she has powers and ends up at Hero High, where her journey ends up being reality television. Action packed, it packs an interesting punch and while its fairly short, its a great read!
