Duty meets desire . . . Mercy O’Malley hates killing people. So when she’s assigned to take out Vampire-Demon Logan Kyllwood, she lures him to a seedy bar in Scotland, then decides to kidnap him instead. How can she cold-bloodedly end all that heat, those green eyes, that ripped body? Unfortunately for Mercy, attempted murder and kidnapping are just foreplay for the Kyllwood brothers. Logan … Kyllwood brothers. Logan may be the youngest of the bunch, but death and violence are already a way of life. Now he’s ready to complete a painful, terrifying ritual to become one of the Seven, dedicated to protecting this world from the most dangerous evil it’s ever known. But first he has to deal with a blackmailing Fey, a ransom demand and his own pounding need for the last female he ever should have fallen for . . .

After every book in this series I always think this is one of my favorites. After finishing this book the thought was this IS my favorite. Loved every second of it and couldn’t put it down. I love all the new elements that have been added to the series as well as catching up with characters from past books. I’m excited to keep reading! Every book in this series has been great, filled with action, suspense, off the chart chemistry and great story lines. I’m so mad at myself for putting it off for so long!
Demon’s Mercy is the ninth book in the paranormal adventure/romantic Dark Protectors series.
Logan Kyllwood is set to become the seventh member of the Seven, but before he does, he’s sent to collect Mercy O’Malley, a fairy and the second Key. Things of course don’t go as planned. The fae want to stop Logan from becoming a Seven, the Kurjans/Cyst are still collecting the Enhanced, and now the shifter and witch nations are not happy upon learning about the existence of the Seven.
Logan and Mercy were a fun couple and their chemistry was instant and intense. Even though Mercy fought the attraction because of duties she felt she owed to her people, it was obvious the brand on Logan’s hand as well as the yearning she felt would win out.
Hope is getting older and starting to see more about her path and we learned more about Sam and the role he is to play.
Great series. Highly recommend!
I am such a fan of Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series. And I am just over the moon that she has come back to it. Even more, I love her Kyllwood demons. These brothers have fought so hard for their entire lives to get where they are and ensure the future of their people. Zane was awesome and now we have Logan, who is just a fantastic hero.
He is poised to undergo the ritual to become one of the Seven… guardians of bubble dimensions which hold back basically the most powerful bad guy ever. The heroine, Mercy, is one of three women who serve as “keys.” If these women are brought together, they can kill that bad guy. So, as the story begins, Logan is watching her, waiting for an opportunity to bring her in. He has no idea she is actually bait for a trap to catch him.
Mercy is Fae, a species this series has not ever really focused on. Their numbers are small and they have come up separate from the rest of the realm. They are hell-bent on preventing the seven from fully forming, because they believe it will wreak havoc on the universe. The book follows the back-and-forth between Logan and Mercy as they each try to one up each other in order to do what they think is right. Unfortunately, those ideas are in direct opposition.
I read a few reviews where people don’t like Mercy, and I understand that, because as readers we know her people are wrong and it’s difficult to empathize with choices we know are bad. But, you got a remember, she believes in what she is doing with her whole heart. And it’s not like her ideas are baseless, either. She believes she has science on her side and, really, she does her best to mitigate damage to Logan along the way.
Another thing I love about this series is how well Zanetti builds her secondary characters to enrich the stories. Specifically, I am super excited with Hope’s storyline, though I do it knowledge it is a lot like Janie’s was in the first several books of the series. I don’t care, though, I am fascinated by her Kurjan buddy and I can’t wait to see where Pax fits in. I’m also super intrigued about Sam. He has a big role to play, even though he is not part of the seven. And I definitely want more of him. I even want more of the super cranky Adaire and his human mate.
My only complaint is the spanking. This pops up in several books in the series and I am just not down with a hero spanking the heroine to teach her a lesson. It is such a tremendous turn off and I wish desperately that Zanetti would stop putting it in the books. Thankfully, it is not overly drawn out and it does not dominate the dynamic. It just gets under my skin.
Otherwise, it is a fantastic book. Great plotting, great pacing, great sexual tension. And it’s got awesome world building and fascinating characters. Would definitely recommend this series for paranormal romance fans it is good stuff
Rating: B/B+
Logan Kyllwood has tracked down another Key but things don’t go as planned when she kidnaps him instead. Mercy O’Mally has a wild plan to kidnap Logan to prevent him from becoming part of the Seven. Things don’t go as planned when she realizes he is a lot stronger than the fae soldiers and easily breaks free. Logan is instantly attracted to Mercy, even if she is a crazy fae, and once his mating mark shows up he will do whatever he can to keep her safe and save the world.
I really loved Mercy. She was smart, caring, and a little reckless (or crazy as the fae are called). The fae have been discussed in this series but this is the first time we actually get to see them in action. I enjoyed watching Mercy challenge Logan and push his buttons. He needs someone who will push him and keep him happy.
I am really interested in seeing how the Fae nation will be included in future books. I really hope we do see more of Mercy and her two best friends. They seem like they would be a bunch of trouble makers. I can’t wait to find out what is going to happen with Quade and the VIking, especially the viking since he was so damaged.
Determined characters with an excited story to tell.
This series does not disappoint!
Excellent lant writer love reading her books
Oh my goodness…. what an amazing book!! I absolutely love the Dark Protectors series and this book definitely did NOT disappoint!! This book is about Logan’s story and may I just say WOW, WOW, WOW!! He is such a ‘playboy’ and always in ‘trouble’ so reading about him being all grown up and meeting his mate was swoon worthy. Rebecca Zanetti is such an engaging writer and never fails to find ways to hook her readers. During this story we are introduced to fairies… just kidding, they actually prefer to be called Fae, and Zanetti does an amazing job weaving the Fae into this magical world of vampires, demons, witches, and shapeshifters. After being introduced to the Seven in Vampire’s Faith we know that they need to find three special keys to prevent a world disaster and one key has already been found. This book begins with Logan following Mercy O’Malley because she is a key. Mercy ends up being more than a key. She is a spunky, compassionate, spitfire of a Fae; whom also ends up being Logan’s mate!! The events that take place throughout the story are engaging and exciting. It was tough having to stop reading to even go to work!! If you’re looking for a story that is interesting, romantic, and fun this is the book to read. Enjoy!!

Rebecca Zanetti delivers an entertaining and engaging read!
I always love coming back to the Dark Protectors world. DEMON’S MERCY features Zane’s youngest brother Logan and a new character, Mercy O’Malley. The story is fast-paced, exciting and held me captive to the very last page. The chemistry between Logan and Mercy is steamy and oftentimes funny. There’re several surprises along the way, including cameos from previous Dark Protector characters. I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait for the next one!
***I voluntarily read a Net Galley of the book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***
Love this series with the continuation of the next generation.
What I liked: I enjoy my urban fantasy/paranormal romance with multiple supernatural races. Rather than following one species with a smaller vantage point, I enjoy an open world. Demon’s Mercy has various characters trying to accomplish multiple tasks relating to the main couple. Broader conflicts create the desire to revisit the same world over multiple books. I already have plans to backtrack in this series and catch up on what I have missed.
I am fond of a forbidden love story as it adds additional tension to the pairing. Demon’s Mercy does this well. Their situation, romantic and otherwise, immediately drew me in. Dodging hostile attacks while fighting their desire for one another, Logan and Mercy charmed me.
What I didn’t like: not much. The mythology is such a large part of the series, it is clear right away how comprehensive it is. To a non-series enthusiast, that fact won’t matter much. The narrative explains the current goings-on quite well. I never felt confused during Demon’s Mercy, only upset I did not find the series sooner. That, however, is easy to remedy. In short, I definitely recommend Demon’s Mercy by Rebecca Zanetti. It is a great read.
I love this series
This was just another great Zanetti book! It was so exciting to watch Mercy and Logan develope into this amazing couple! I’m loving this Dark Protectors series!
He always knew Fate would give him Mercy
Logan is about to become an essential member of the Seven, but unfortunately it appears as though the world is against him and all his efforts. He had a woman kidnap him, he finds out she’s his mate and war is yet again on the horizon. Mercy in an attempt to save Logan, kidnaps him. However, not everything is as it appears and as the story and more information is revealed a much clearer picture of her intentions becomes known.
I enjoyed this story, even though at times Mercy’s indecision was a bit frustrating but one could say she was just headstrong Looking forward to more in this series
If I could give it 4.5stars, I would. This is one of my fave in the series. Love Mercy!!! I love it when these macho, alpha, DP he-men come up against a bad ass, strong-willed, woman who won’t be some wimpy girl who can be bossed around.
I loved Demon’s Mercy! Logan was the ultimate protector and wanted to help save everyone. Mercy is our introduction to the Fae/Fairy world. I liked that she was a strong female, able to fight despite her small size, but I felt like she didn’t always make the best decisions. I love how she wanted to protect Logan, who was the protector of everyone else. I continue to be amazed by Rebecca Zanetti’s books and look forward to the next one.
What is it about these Kyllwood males? I didn’t think I could like Logan as much as Zane, but it’s damn close.
Demon’s Mercy is the latest book in the Dark Protectors series, and it was a good addition. I was worried after not enjoying the previous book, but Logan and Mercy take you on an adventure. I liked Mercy, she was spunky, and while she had her own agenda, she meant well. Her and Logan had great chemistry, so their relationship progression felt natural. Logan was everything you could want in a demon-vampire hybrid. Sweet, sexy, a little bossy, and a whole lot of bad ass. I dare you not to love him.
We learn more about the Seven, and their place in the world. And a lot about the mystical fairies were have heard about but never met. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next!
Logan’s mate is a fiesty fae! I love it! She always one step ahead of him and it’s driving him nuts! She’s unpredictable and head over heels. He’s a warrior, steady and strong…until Mercy appears.
Entertaining and intense. Ivar! Quade!
I had a tough time putting Demon’s Mercy down and now that I’ve finished, I need more! I love the Dark Protector series and spin-offs!
I’ve waited so long for Kyle’s book and Rebecca Zanetti did not disappoint!!! A MUST read in the Dark Protectors series
