I am a big fan of Koontz. I love how he takes the ordinary and twists it, and with all of the scientific and technological advances his nightmares put to prose seem scarily possible. This is one of his most far out in left field works, and definitely for adults. I read this many years ago well before the internet of things and it was very SF at that time. Not so much now.
It’s an ok book
Dean Koontz is an amazing writer!!
everyone you need to read this book.
I was not impressed. It was different. I love Dean Koonz but I wish he would go back to his original style. I used to buy every book I could find of his but the past few years he changed. I keep hoping….. The first book I ever read of his was the Watcher. I got my son hooked on his writing but he too says something happened to change his writing.
I never thought this book would be what it was actually about! It was really well written and a little twisted like all Dean Koontz books.
With the impending doom that the idea of AI creates this book seems all-of-too possible. The feeling of dread with occasional humor (which tends to be Koontz’s MO) makes this book impossible to put down.
I loved this book as it was definitely a page turner and fast paced. However, it made me see my Amazon Alexa in a new light. Guess I will be using it to only listen to music….lol!
Very strange and dark
The scariest part of this book is that it certainly could happen.
I love Koontz books
Written with a sense of humor. Great imagination . Definitely recommend
I did not like this book
Not one of his better books.
The moral and mental defects in the AI in this story are never explained. Therefore the whole plot based on those defects is hard to swallow. The question of how AIs might act and impact humans is a great one, but this story provides no believable answers. This is an example of how even a talented and accomplished writer can go wrong.
Extremely different from most of his books
In typical Koontz fashion Demon Seed was intriguing and chilling. Acknowledging how dependent and oblivious we are to how deeply entangled our lives are with technology and how very wrong it could go planted some fertile food for thought.
Dean Koontz is always interesting.
Love the author but this book was very predictable.
Dean Koontz is normally one of my favorite authors, however, this book didn’t live up to his standards. He must have written it hurriedly! Had to make myself finish it .
