Demon Heart is an MM urban fantasy with lots of magic, powerful emotions, a passionate blooming romance and a touch of kink.
This is Book 2 in the Blade & Dust series with no cliffhanger and a happy for now ending. Although it can be read as a standalone, it is better enjoyed as part of the series.

This is the second installment of an continuing series, so you really must read Killer Heart first in order to understand the fantasy world, the lore that the author has created and where the storyline was left at.
is more full speed action than romance. Caleb and Wade don’t even get any respite after the previous book’s trials before another enemy needs to be taken down. Only this time everything is kind of extra. Extra characters, good and bad, extra spells and an extra powerful evil to fight. Old alliances brake and new ones form, all unexpected, considering the previous state of relationships between witches, their hunters and the nightcrawlers.
I’ll admit I liked a bit more than Killer Heart. There’s the added danger,a lot more mythology and also,Caleb and Wade’s bond is taken to a new level. The story kept me edgy and anxious to see if our heroes would make it through alive. And the ending is so intriguing that now I can’t wait until the next book is out.
Wade and Caleb action pack adventures continue in this second book of the series. And it’s as good as the first good…full of suspense, mystery and magic. Also, we get to see their relationship grow and become even kinkier (so hot). And more twist to keep you guessing and addicted. Now I need book 3 to find out more. (It’s not a cliff hanger, more like a HFN)
After what happened to Christian, Wade and Caleb must deal with the aftermath, but they won’t have time to settle together until they must face a new danger, one they don’t know how to defeat without losing their life.
Wade and Caleb are back for my biggest pleasure. I loved them so much.
After the huge fight with Christian and the somber revelations about the witches council, Caleb and Wade try to find their footing together , but they won’t have this luxury, when almost all the BLADE ‘agents are murdered, witches mysteriously disappear and supernatural catastrophes are thrown against humans , Wade, Caleb and their friends will have to find a way to save everyone.
I adored this book, it was captivating, dynamic and well written with a lot of actions and twists. I loved to see how Wade and Caleb are as a couple and let me tell you, they’re awesome.
The end of the book putted me on edge, I want to know what will happen, don’t worry it’s not a cliffhanger, just a HFN, but I can’t wait to read the next one, I also hope to read more about Hew and Winston…
Caleb and Wade continue with their journey with each other as they deal with the new challenges that is thrown their way. I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow deeper between Caleb and Wade. There are new villains and new allies in this new book. This was definitely a wonderful good read.
Demon Heart by Rhys Lawless is the second book in the Blade & Dust series. It’s a fantastic fantasy novel filled with the paranormal, magic, action, twists, steam, and suspence. The world created in this series drew me in and now I’m stuck, addicted to these amazing characters and the interesting storylines. This book had me glued to the pages, even better than the first book, and now I can not wait for the next book. I absolutely love Wade and Caleb and their journey.
** I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR MY READING PLEASURE **

Demon Heart (Blade & Dust #2) by Rhys Lawless

Demon Heart is the second book in the Blade & Dust series. An action-packed adventure, with engaging characters and an intriguing plot, I’ve found myself submerged in this series. Following a now-established couple through the ups and downs of their budding relationship, while dealing with past hurts and wrongs, exes and mistakes, the story takes you on a journey through emotional chaos as explosive as the very real physical dangers.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Not everything about this book, or the author’s writing style, is my cup of tea. There are some phrasing choices that aren’t my taste, and the subset of D/s and BDSM elements in the central relationship that have them hot for slapping, spanking and choking aren’t my thing, but I can look past that because it fits the characters and their personalities.
It picks up the story from a week after the events of book 1. For those who haven’t read Book 1 yet – STOP! Go back, and read that first. You might also want to read the prequel short, Foxy Heart, to add a little bit of background and context. This is one of those series where, if you miss a single installation, you’re going to get lost. Although the author does a stellar job of recapping events, Book 1 was so detailed with worldbuilding and character background that it would be impossible to retell everything you need to know. So, do yourself a favour, and go back to read Book 1 first.
While the relationship is established, this time, there isn’t an excess of sex or mushy scenes, which I liked. It’s only been a short time since they came together and you can see that in the way that, while they’re attracted to each other, in love and emotionally invested, they aren’t at that stage where they put their relationship before everything else in their lives. Thankfully! I like the continuation of Wade’s mental struggle, his uncertainty and doubt over his purpose, the continuation of his past drug-addiction and the running plot of his relationship with his brother.
Sometimes, when there’s a high octane plot, the author forgets the important pieces that brought the characters to life for the reader and made them real. Such as Caleb’s past, his romantic failures, Wade’s drug addiction, his relationship with his brother. But, it’s only been a week since those things were at the forefront of their minds, and the author hasn’t fallen into the trap of forgetting that. They’re still important, still brought into the characters lives and thoughts routinely, which is great to see. To maintain a series with the same main characters through each book, there has to be growth and change, and that isn’t possible if the author forgets what made us love the characters in the first place. Lawless has done an excellent job of reminding us what makes Caleb and Wade special, without compromising plot or drifting into endless repetition.
And, while I was daunted by the prospect of an extended series, endless spin-offs and such, that the author announced early on, I’m actually not sure if I’ll be avoiding them after all. I want to see more of Hew and Winston, from their own POV’s, and I got a hint from this book that Ash and Lloyd might be an interesting match. There are plenty of couples that I’ve seen mentioned or potential couples hinted at, that I’d like to see more of. For now, all I can say is that I’ll keep my eyes open for future releases from the author.
I’ll be on the look out for Vampire Heart, at the end of January.

“Who could have told me a week ago I’d be in bed about to have sex with my boyfriend to invoke a demon inside me?”
Let the dust settle
The battle continues and poor Wade and Caleb can’t catch a break. I think they’re a magnet for trouble and evil as it seems to follow them around, or maybe they court it? I will say that Caleb does not back down and has a spine of steel. In fact, he scares me a little but some people in this world need a fire lit under them. Wade, well, he finds himself with a unique set of problems that were fascinating to watch.
“You and I? We’re meant to be, okay? We fell in love twice in a lifetime.” Gah, these two. I loved seeing the relationship between Caleb and Wade deepen and grow. They make my heart flutter and they’re unbelievably sexy together. I also liked that Winston, Hew and some others had a bigger role as the entire cast of characters intrigue me. What I enjoyed the most about this book was the history that we learned, completely captivating. Surprises and an intense ride await you in this phenomenal world and every new thing we learn makes me wish it would never end.
