Survival requires sacrifice. The world irrevocably changed after the hellhounds and fey appeared. Most people didn’t survive that first night. Dad had said we were lucky we did. I’m not so sure about that anymore. With her father murdered before her eyes and her faith in the remaining humans shaken, Brenna reluctantly accepts sanctuary in Tolerance, a safe zone managed by the fey. The wall keeps … safe zone managed by the fey. The wall keeps the infected out. But it also keeps the humans in…with the very creatures that caused the world to break.
Big, grey, and ruthlessly deadly, the fey strike fear in the hearts of men and women alike. But Brenna finds one more intimidating than all the rest. Scarred and angry, Thallirin watches Brenna with an intensity that makes her relive the reason for her father’s murder. She knows what Thallirin wants, and she’s never going to let that happen.
Tormented by her past, Brenna sees no possible future other than eventual infection or starvation. There is hope, though; a way to protect women against the disease that’s turning people into zombies. Only, it doesn’t come from a needle. It comes from sleeping with the dark fey.

Each of these fae becomes more amazing than the last. While Brenna is trying to prove her worth and her mother is trying to find someone who will protect the family, Thallirin is watching her closely and hoping to find a way into her life. She’s been through horrific events since this started, and her trust in men has diminished exponentially. But the fae don’t give up. And when a group from Tolerance sets out to find supplies, they are in for a serious awakening. The zombies are not what they used to be, and Brenna may need Thallirin more than she’s willing to admit.
I just fell in love with this story as I have all of them from the beginning. Brenna is so strong-willed and willing to learn how to defend herself. And Thallirin is so persistent. She has a hard time trusting men after what she’s been through to survive. And Thallirin has his own demons to overcome in order to find his place among his kind as much as in human society. I was so glad to see them find their happy ending because they worked so hard for it and deserved it so much. I don’t know who the author is going to write next, but I hope she’s got more than one story left in this world. I can’t help but find these fae endearing, and I want to see all of them happy.
This was such an exciting and awesome story, and I can’t wait to find the answers to so many of the questions that have come about since the start of the series.
I LOVE this series and this book did not disappoint!! Brenna is strong and will stand up for what she believes in! She is trying to run from some shadows haunting her but she has also found one unwilling to leave her and wants to help her heal in Thallirin. The combination of these two is brilliant and I loved reading their story and perception in how life is just now for them.
If you haven’t started this series yet it is a must!! Every story is unique but intertwined and is truly an amazing read!!
This seventh book in the series was another favorite. I love how different each character is and the Faes’ personalities. I love that I get to see the world changing from so many viewpoints. Nancy is incredibly strong, so it only makes sense that her children will be too. Brenna is amazing. She’s determined, stubborn, opinionated, and quite happy looking out for herself… but the infected are getting smarter and thankfully no matter much she pushes him away, Thallirin won’t go. Swoon
I loved this story. It was entertaining but also very sincere. At first, I was worried about reading Brenna’s story but I’m glad that I did. There are a lot of feels, so be aware!
Brenna is a survivor. She has survived the hellhounds, the infected and other human survivors but not without a price. After being rescued, Brenna lives with her family in Tolerance which is one of the safe zones. The Tolerance safe zone is protected by the dark fey. They are big, strong, grey and intimidating. Brenna wants to make sure that she is never a victim again and works toward being as independent as possible. One of the fey, Thallirin watches Brenna which makes her feel angry but also scared.
This was a hard story for me. I understood where Brenna was coming from and was right there with her when she was trying to get the “adults” to listen to her about her. I cried while she explained her feelings. Please be aware that even though the attack on Brenna has already happened when this book starts, she does describe it and if you are sensitive this may trigger you.
Her mom and brother were awesome. Thallirin, once you got to his motivation and his feelings for Brenna was actually super sweet. The way Brenna and Thallirin end up working toward each other was wonderful and very touching. I loved how their story ended. I definitely recommend reading this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
“Demon Dawn” is a fabulous addition to the Resurrection Chronicles by author M.J. Haag. Brenna is a tough young woman in a world where you must fight to survive. To survive and for her Mom and brother to survive, Brenna had to make some life altering choices which has increase her anger. M.J. Haag writes Brenna’s journey as she tries to overcome her past and to open herself up to a possible future very well. I really enjoyed reading along the journey. I’m looking forward to the next book in the Resurrection Chronicles.
What a fantastic addition to this series! I think a new reader would appreciate this book much more if they start with book 1 in the Resurrection Chronicles, as it starts with the main world building, even though it’s evolving thru the series. Trust me, it won’t be a hardship to start at the beginning, I loved every book in this series so far. We see a lot of the other characters from previous books, so still feel all the connections in this world. I knew from all the interactions with other characters that these 2 had in the previous books in this series, that Brenna & Thallirin’s story was going to be fantastic! It was not a couple combination I would have thought up, but it definitely works! This book was everything I hoped for Brenna & Thallirin! 🙂 There is a lot of intense & emotional moments (not just between the couple, but in the story in general). I think this book elicited a few more tears from me than most of the books in the series (not ugly crying, just tears) as well as some pissed off moments at stuff going down in the story. The humor definitely helps offset that heavy side of the story that’s so emotionally charged. There’s a lot of humor. The smoldering connection between the couple before they relent to the attraction is intense. Brenna has been thru so much in such a short time, and I’m so glad she’s come thru it all in the end to get a HEA with the big guy. She’s definitely a strong character to come out the other side. Thallirin’s been such a misunderstood fey from the get go, that’s been totally portrayed as a “bad guy”, though I saw a much different side to him in this book. He’s definitely redeemable in this book -at least because of Brenna! When he does talk, he’s intense and makes every word count! I really just can’t get enough of these grey fey men!
Zombies are back!
So freaking good! I love this series so much! After the first three books, each book after can be read as a stand-alone! But i encourage you to read everything because its so good! Zombies are getting bloody smarter and more dangerous! Scavenging for food and essentials could be your last! Huge sacrifices must be made! The romance was a slow burn and worth it! Must read!
