Kids and I don’t get along. Never have. They cry. They’re needy. Don’t even get me started on the smell. Then a baby lands on my doorstep—FAE Investigations—with her elfin parents. They claim a demon wants her. My first thought is, “Let the demon have her.” It would save them so much hassle. But I take the case anyway. Then I discover things aren’t as simple as they look. Sure, a demon wants the … a demon wants the baby, but for good reason.
This baby may turn out to be the worst type of kid.

Justine and Roo are back for some fae fun. This time Justine has to find out how to get rid of a demon that’s after a baby, and she can’t stand kids. This book was fun, interesting, and had some very interesting side characters. I did see the twist coming at the very end which makes me very anxious to see what’s coming next. I do have to admit that sometimes I don’t like Justine very much, but it isn’t enough to really derail my enjoyment, and, TBF, she does have a nasty dark side. Now begins the wait for the next one. This is a good book for those who like PIs, fae, and/or urban fantasy. I recommend this book and was provided the e-book which I voluntarily reviewed.
Diabolically written! I loved the twist that Nocifari and the PIA threw into the investigation. And that curve ball at the end? Whoo boy! I can’t wait to see where THAT leads!
Demon Cursed (Dark Fae Decree Book 2) by Ilana Waters is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. There is fae, a goblins and demons. But the the story is about an elf judge that doesn’t like babies but has to care for a baby the is surrounded by a demon. Simple, elf, demon, and baby! Well, it really isn’t simple at all because a detective thinks the elf is guilty of certain crimes, which she is but not for the reasons the detective believes! It all gets crazy!
Pretty good story!
The world of the Fae is separated into normal fae and dark fae. Usually they do not mix, but once in a while they produce a child – no problem, usually. But when the “normal” fae is the ultimate judge to keep an oath and his child is the next judge then this spells trouble. Said child is Justine and as the new Judge she is struggling to keep her dark side under wraps. In this book, the second in the series, she promises – reluctantly- to protect a baby from a demon.
An entertaining story, but for my taste a little too much fighting combat style. I have no problem with the fights per se, but the blow by blow descriptions are a little too detailed for my taste.
Still a good enjoyable read.
I received an ARC from the author and this is a voluntary review
Another case for Fae Investigations this time with elves and a baby and demons! Tons of fun, action and twists that I admit I did not see coming, this is another great urban fantasy read in this series! Fab characters, I adore Justine and Roo and cannot wait to read more!
I loved Broken Oath, the first book in Ilana Waters’ Dark Fae Decree series (separately reviewed), so it’s no shocker that I’ve been eagerly awaiting Demon Cursed (Book 2). Happily for me (and others to I will concede), it’s as wonderful as it’s predecessor. Justine Tam is back, with a case involving elves, a baby that’s demon-sought and more fun than a barrel of monkeys (though there are no actual barrels or monkeys involved). This is pure unadulterated fun and something definitely worth seeking out. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Where do I even begin to start with this book? It took me for a ride and left me gasping for more. Justine is nothing like any other heroine I have read in recent memory. She’s dark and flawed, but she has a core of strength and (dare I say it?) humanity that push her to be better than her basest desires. There are so many wonderful twists to this plot. I never quite knew where it was going to take me next. My own Celtic heritage revels in seeing the myths and monsters of my childhood brought out to terrorize and fascinate new generations. I loved the humor, and the sharp turn this story takes right before the end makes me rabid to get my hands on the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
