You might be wondering how you’ll know when your playboy ways are coming to an end. For some it might be an unexpected pregnancy (ahem… you know who), for others it might be finally landing the one woman you’ve always wanted (cough… I won’t mention any names). For me, it was the death of my mentor and the subsequent reading of his will. The signs were there, they always are. But I didn’t notice … didn’t notice them until it was too late, and my demise was complete.

One Day Can’t Put Down 5 Star Read! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Denver Bailey has won me heart and soul! There is so much more to this Bailey twin than meets the eye! You are going to completely fall for him and then you have to deal with Cloe… but with the unexpected way these two seem to need each other you may just swoon and let her have him!
I had lots of tears in this story but in the best way possible.
5 Beautiful Bailey Stars
*Don’t worry… you get Grandma Dori too!
I think I just found my favorite Lake Starlight hero! Disclaimer: Yes, I know I say that about all the guys (I can’t even narrow it down to just the Bailey men either; I mean, you’ve met Liam and Wyatt, right?) but there’s just something extra special about Denver. When this man goes all-in, he really goes all in. He’s charming, playful, and oh so sexy. He may be funny, quirky, and the least serious of all the Baileys, but Denver is going to melt your heart with a side you never saw coming.
Cleo is great. She puts on a strong front, but she’s lost – desperately trying to find out where she fits in this world. And though she may struggle, she still has an abundance of determination, a strong bravado, and a wit that keeps Denver on his toes. She’s sassy and a little bit broken at the same time. It’s an unexpectedly amazing combination.
Witty banter? Check.
Plenty of feels? Check.
Chemistry so hot it’ll melt your Kindle? Double check.
Throw in plenty of past and future Bailey favorites and you’ve got yourself another fantastic addition to this small town, Alaskan romance series. I’m in love with these characters and these stories. You can’t help but fall in love with them all, especially Denver Bailey! Get ready to swoon!
As usual, Piper Rayne delivers a wonderful book full of surprises on how a Bailey can fall in love. This time it’s Denver. He’s Rome’s twin brother and always thought that he wouldn’t fall in love and be with one woman. Enter Cleo, his deceased boss’ daughter. When his boss died, he left half of his adventure business to his daughter and half to Denver to have them work together to save the business. Is there more than one matchmaker working to get Denver and Cleo together? Usually, it’s just Grandma Dori but I have the feeling that with the way the will was written Denver’s boss has a leaning toward matching Denver and Cleo. It’s always fun to see a player turn romantic. I can’t give spoilers out but this book is a new favorite of mine. We get to see all the previous Baileys and their loves and catch up with them. There’s also a hint of the next Bailey – Phoenix and her match of Griffin. I can’t wait for that book. I received an ARC to read early and also have my own copy on order.
A truly Bailey story with all the Feels! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Denver Bailey there is more to him that meet the eye. Cleo Dawson is a hurt girl who’s dad has passed away and she is now thrown into a partnership she never expected. Can Cleo and Denver figure out that they need each other more than just for business? This story gives you all the feels and everything you expect with this Bailey crew! Even some fun Grandma Dori! Can’t wait for the next Bailey book!
I know I say this in all my reviews of this series, but I’m seriously obsessed with this family. Denver has been a mystery ever since Rome’s book, and I’ve been so excited to see him get his HEA.
Denver really isn’t the type to settle down. He is a go with the flow, no goals, see what happens type of person. He is still not over the loss of his parents, and the trauma guides his decisions.
Cleo is mourning the loss of a father she never had, living in a new town, and trying to follow her father’s wishes. She is determined to find her purpose and where she belongs.
Watching these two go from enemies to friends to lovers was such a wonderful transition. They grew together gradually and finding out that Denver was such a sweetheart and a romantic took the book to a whole
new level.
The family as always had some of the best scenes. Their closeness and ability to meddle is always a highlight for me. They have some of the funniest and heartfelt moments.
Now those teasers for Phoenix’s book were on fire. She is such a wildcard, and I’m interested to see where Piper and Rayne take her character.
-An Arc was generously provided in exchange for an honest review.
Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy will bring out the adventurer in you! Be prepared for witty banter and lots of laughter while reading this new addition to The Baileys series. The character growth was the best part for me as a reader, and I loved watching Denver and Cleo each come into their own. I’ll be the first to admit, this is my favorite book in the series so far, and that’s a huge deal, considering how much I love this family! Another hit for Piper Rayne!!!
This has got to be one of my favorite series. With each book I fall more in love with this crazy loving family. When I saw this one was Denver’s book I actually squealed. Come on, he’s Rome’s twin and the I’m never settling down Bailey.
And in comes Cleo. I absolutely loved her. Once she loosened up she’s actually quite entertaining. I loved her character and she maybe my favorite addition to the Baileys yet. As for Denver, this really opens him up and we get to see why he is the way he is on relationships. Great addicting to a wonderful series. Loved it!

Once again Piper and Rayne took me on a trip to Lake Starlight and I never wanted to leave. For real I want to pack up my winter coat and move. I absolutely adore the Baileys and Denver is now my favorite. After the death of his mentor and boss, Denver Bailey, a self-proclaimed life-long playboy, is suddenly thrust into the responsibility of running a business. And he will be doing it with Cleo, his bosses estranged daughter.
Cleo never thought she would find herself living in Lake Starlight but after the death of her father and the reading of his will leaving her 50% of his business, that’s exactly where she ends up. Who knew the one place she has always avoided would be the place she finds she fits the most.
I loved these two together. I fell fast ans hard for Denver and I couldn’t get enough of him. The back and forth between he and Cleo had me laughing out loud and swooning into a puddle. I loved every second of their story! I can’t wait to see what these two authors bring us next!
I love this series and loved this book. It’s made sooo much better that I’ve read the earlier books and know the characters.
Denver is Self Centered and was definitely a Playboy, everyone knows that, but reading him fall was so good. He has emotions and feels which no-one thought he had, that he never shared with anyone.
A great Enemies to Lovers story, full of Egos, Chemistry, Angst, and Steamy bits.
So many emotions!!! Denver stole my heart!
Denver Bailey and Cleo’s story was so amazing! I love a good enemies-to-lovers story especially when the chemistry and emotions run high. When Chip passes away, he leaves half of his business to Denver, and the other half to his daughter, Cleo. This shocks them both and they have no idea how to run a company, let alone do it without killing each other.
Watching them interact, navigate the business, make decisions together, and fight their growing attraction for the other was perfect. They were the absolute perfect match for each other constantly pushing each others boundaries and testing limits. Both of them struggled but together, they came out even stronger on the other side of grief and loss.
As with the rest of this series, I love that we get to see the whole Bailey family and get to catch up with them as the main characters find their happily ever after. This whole family and the town of Lake Starlight own my heart and I don’t want it back! This may be one of my most favorite series of all time! I can’t wait to see what happens next! I am impatiently waiting for Phoenix’s book!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
These Baileys are a ridiculous good time!! If you haven’t picked these books up yet, WHY?!?!? Cleo and Denver kept me so frikkin amused I did not want their story to end. This was one of those books that had me giddy from beginning to end. It was a happy book which is very fitting for their personalities! Even the conflict was humorous! This author duo just does not disappoint people! This wasn’t just a romantic comedy, it was heartfelt and heartwarming and I just loved it!
I think Piper Rayne (or Piper and Rayne!) are getting better and better in echa Bailey’s books! When I started reading this series I never thought Denver’s book would be so sweet and deep. Cleo and Denver’s story is about mourning and growing up, finding your true place in the world despite of your parents and the path that was chosen for you. Cleo has to face the death of her father to discover who she is and where she wants to be. Denver is facing this mourning a long time but he needed to feel wanted and loved. They are a wonderful couple and it is so good to hear about the other Bailey’s and their stories. The good thing about this series is that they are human enough to face all the troubles we deal with our ordinary life but in a fun way, which makes me think about always try to find a good side of life. This is a standalone but it is always super fun to read the other books (specially because you will be having the time of your life reading these books!).
If you have not had a chance to meet this big Bailey clan then what are you waiting for? They are fun, sweet and most importantly they love and look out for one another.
If you enjoy a small town romance story then this is your chance to experience the quirky small town of Lake Starlight, Alaska where the local gossip is posted in the Buzz Wheel. No one knows who actually writes the articles, but the news is also current, entertaining and is how everyone stays in everybody’s business.
Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy is Denver’s story and it turns out, he is so much more than the playboy he makes himself out to be. Cleo was tough to warm up to at first until you realize that she is simply lost trying to find where she belongs and fits in. They are always at odds with each other but circumstances are forcing them to put their differences aside and it is fun to watch as they navigate this new dynamics and prove that opposites can attract!
This is the 5th book in this phenomenal series, and this is Denver and Cleo’s story. Denver and Cleo end up becoming business partners when they are left the company when Cleo’s dad passes away. These two love to drive each other crazy, and are the perfect match for each other. This is a beautifully written tale which is filled with explosive chemistry, emotion, passion, humor, witty banter, love and is an all round entertaining read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all.
It’s no secret that I have a crush on all things Bailey. This series has got to be one of my favorite ever. Piper Rayne’s fictional town of Lake Starlight Alaska is a little piece of heaven on earth. In this latest installment of the Bailey family’s shenanigans we get to see consumate playboy Denver fall and fall hard. There’s nothing I love more than seeing a self proclaimed, never gonna settle down, man whore, transform into a besotted lovesick fool (in a good way of course). The woman responsible for this is none other than his beloved mentor’s (not) spoiled daughter. Cleo is a lost soul looking for her place in the world. Her dad’s business and home give her the chance to find herself. In Alaska, not only does she find the love of a good man but she also finds the love and acceptance of an incredible family – the Baileys. Another fantastic read by Piper Rayne, TBR this book ASAP, trust me you won’t regret it. (I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).
4.5 stars
Another great read from Piper Rayne! They’re taking us home to Lake Starlight (it’s quickly become one of my favorite fictional places), a place as quirky and loving as the people who live there. All Bailey books can be read as standalones but trust me, you want to fall in love with the Bailey’s!
When dearly departed Chip leaves half his business to Denver and the other half to his daughter, their heads almost exploded. They don’t have much respect for each other; heck, they don’t even like each other! After a rough start, they must work together to save the business and maybe, just maybe they’ll learn from the dead how to really live life.
This book was funny and quirky like all the rest but this story gave me the feels big-time! Denver and Cleo are both so lost and figuring out their place in the grand scheme of things. Both are hobbled by grief but neither know how to move on. It made me sad to see how they both struggled but thankfully, they don’t have to figure it all out on their own. I love all these characters and especially love how the town is like a character on its own. The siblings and G’Ma D were delightful additions as usual and I can’t wait for more!
AnnMarie – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
Oh Denver Bailey, how the playboy has fallen. I LOVE the Baileys. I think I fall more and more in love with this family with each siblings book, but Denver may just be my favorite. I devoured this story and didn’t want it to end.
Denver inherits his mentors, Chip Dawson, business when he passes. The downside? He has to split the business with Chip’s daughter, Cleo Dawson, a city girl that is pretty clueless when it comes to outdoor adventures in Alaska.
I loved Denver and Cleo. I loved their relationship, it was a very enemies to friends to lovers vibe. Denver has a reputation in town as a playboy, however, there is a reason for it and the man also has a super sweet, romantic side. These two had chemistry and I couldn’t get enough of it. I loved that the entire Bailey clan welcomed Cleo with open arms and made her feel instantly welcome into their family.
This is another MUST READ book in The Baileys series and I can be read as a standalone, however, reading the previous books in the series is 1000% worth it! I can’t wait to see what is in store for the Baileys in Phoenix’s book!
5 When the Playboy Falls He Falls Hard Stars!!!
Who knew a woman could bring Denver Bailey to his knees in the love department? Certainly not Denver himself. He’s been the Bailey that swore he would never fall in love even though all his siblings are coupling up and making babies. All this changes though when Cleo comes to town to run the business of Denver’s mentor after his passing.
Let’s just say these two are completely opposite and have no desire to be in the same small town let alone working side by side. Even though there’s a mutual attraction between them, they need to find a way to work together without giving into this attraction. Cleo is a woman that doesn’t hold anything back and there’s some moments of screaming and yelling going on….what we come to understand though is that beneath this façade that Cleo wants everyone to believe is a woman that’s just a little bit lost.
This book for me was one that took me on a journey of the heart when we come to find out why Denver has always been the brother that had no intention of settling down. And while the death of his mentor is the reason he’s working with Cleo to keep the business alive it’s also the reason he comes to understand that love is possible for him when he opens his heart enough to let her in.
With each book in this series by Piper Rayne I fall more and more in love with Lake Starlight and the Bailey family and all their stories. I can’t wait to get Phoenix’s story!!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
Oh how I love to return to Alaska and to our favorite family the Bailey’s! It’s never a dull moment with this crew! While this book can be read as a stand alone, I feel reading the others in the series will make this one that much more enjoyable!
Denver Bailey has always been the reckless, daring, commitment phobe Bailey sibling. He’s a bush pilot and he’s helped out Chip Dawson with his business, Lifetime Adventures, where Chip has served as a mentor to Denver, but the last thing he wants a relationship and he never plans to settle down. He’s always been the one to give his siblings a hard time as they’ve entered into their relationships. Much of that stems from the fact that he lost his parents at such a young age. He’s not one to attach himself to people or things, but when Chip passes away, he ends up attached to something he never expected.
Cleo Dawson is the estranged daughter of Chip Dawson and she’s come to town for the reading of his will. She had a very unstable upbringing and she only visited her Dad two weeks each summer, so the relationship with him wasn’t as strong as she would have liked. Cleo is one that has never felt like she has found where she belongs, but that is what she wants most. When she ends up with half the business her father owned, she stays in Lake Starlight to see if maybe she’s finally where she is supposed to be.
Denver and Cleo don’t see eye to eye on much of anything when they enter into their co-ownership of Lifetime Adventures. They find that the business is struggling and in order to get it back on it’s feet, they agree to try doing a television show. As the two begin spending more time together, they end up finding that maybe they don’t think the other is so bad at all. The chemistry is definitely there and these two people who have been floundering for so much of their lives seem to have found something to hold onto within one another.
I loved this book and the way that Denver and Cleo brought out the best in one another. Kudos to Piper Rayne for creating another fantastic Bailey adventure for us! I can’t wait for the next one!
