You might be wondering how you’ll know when your playboy ways are coming to an end. For some it might be an unexpected pregnancy (ahem… you know who), for others it might be finally landing the one woman you’ve always wanted (cough… I won’t mention any names). For me, it was the death of my mentor and the subsequent reading of his will. The signs were there, they always are. But I didn’t notice … didn’t notice them until it was too late, and my demise was complete.

What a perfect book and a perfect title for Denver’s book. In “Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy”, we see Piper & Rayne give us yet another amazing Bailey story that will take you on a rollercoaster of feelings and pull on your heart strings.
In the past Bailey books, Denver is a playboy with not a care in the world. Yet in this book, we get to see that other side of him and my oh my was it amazing!!!! I absolutely love the view we get into him and how he feels and cares. So sweet and not what you expect of a playboy.
Cleo enters and you definitely don’t like her in the beginning but she does grow on you. You wound up liking her and the adventure that her & Denver go on. Her & Denver turn out to be perfect for each as you just knew that Piper & Rayne could and would do. I won’t go into more because that’s why you need to read to know their amazing story.
I love seeing and hearing more from the other Baileys as well. I can’t wait for Phoenix and Griffin’s story. I just know it will be amazing like this one and all others. I literally can’t wait for all of the others!!!!
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 5 in the Baileys series and it did not disappoint. In this book we follow Denver Bailey the Bush pilot. There is lots of the normal Bailey fun and humor but there is also lots of angst and tension. It kept me flipping the pages.
When Denver’s mentor Chip passes away he finds out that he has inherited half of Chips Adventure business. The other half belongs to Chip’s daughter Cleo. Cleo holds some resentment towards Denver because of the close relationship he had with her father. She feels she should have inherited the whole business. Co-owning a business was never in Denver’s plans but Chip meant a lot to him and taught him everything he knows about being a Bush pilot so he wanted to help carry on the business.
Denver and Cleo have a mutual dislike for each other but agree to work together to make the business work. When the opportunity arises the two of them to join a reality show to gain cash and advertise the business they both jump in with both feet. As they work together they realize there is an attraction hidden under all the animosity and friction between them.
Will their relationship heat up as they get to know each other and spend more time together? Could this partnership actually work?

4.5 Stars
I love those Baileys and I’m so glad there are so many of them. It’s Denver’s turn and boy did he surprise me. Getting to know him in the previous books he had a lot to do to turn my opinion about him around. Truly he didn’t need to do too much because within the first few chapters he already worked his magic on me. There is more to him than meets the eye and once you get into his head he will win you over. I liked the banter between him and Cleo. Both of them are grieving and now they have to partner to run the business together. It’s going to be very interesting ride for sure. My heart goes out to Cleo because she always felt like she didn’t belong. If anyone needs the love and support of the Bailey clan it’s her. I do appreciate Cleo’s relationship with her stepsister. This is a book I gobbled right up which is I come to expect with this series. It’s hard to put these books down and this one is no exception. I loved Grandma Dori so much. I always enjoy her scenes in the book. This is a book you shouldn’t pass up, really you shouldn’t pass up any of the books in this series.
It’s official…I fall in love more and more with each Bailey sibling. Denver gave me butterflies!
Denver is a confirmed bachelor with no plans to change his status anytime soon. He likes to live freely with no obligations. But with the death of his mentor, life as he knows it is about to change.
Now he’s left with the responsibility of resurrecting a dying business. Denver not only has to figure out a way to save it, he also has to find a way to work with his new business partner.
Cleo comes from privilege, but she is not your typical rich girl. She just lost her father and she’s floundering with where she belongs. Feeling lost and disconnected, Denver becomes her lifeline. She never expected to find a home in Lake Starlight.
Both are dealing with the death of a parent. Neither wants to be hurt. Someone is going to have to take the risk. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Cleo and Denver shared passion and hurt. She was trying to find her way and he was the perfect support. I enjoyed their banter and their transition from enemies to friends to lovers. Their fall was sweet.
I love all of these Bailey’s. Each one brings something new and makes my heart even fuller. I always enjoy catching up with the Bailey’s that are already coupled up. It’s the best family reunion. I am excited for the next Bailey to fall.
Denver is trouble with a capital T. He received half of the business when his friend died, along with a partner named Cleo. Cleo and Denver hate one another at first site. The story moves on fast and the two have bubbling chemistry beneath all that hate. Will Cleo be the woman to bring down the playboy Denver? A fun, sexy read with feels.
YAAAS! <-- my reaction whenever I see a new Piper Rayne book on my kindle! I was so excited that we finally got Denver's book, he's been so down on his siblings falling in love, especially since his twin & best friend have matured. Cleo is so perfect for him! I loved that their chemistry and attraction to each other came out as their arguments! I just couldn't put the book down! I wanted to see what would happen next between these two and how they'd get their HEA! Such a great book!
I have been really enjoying The Baileys Series, each one of the Bailey siblings has had a difficult time since they lost their parents but now it’s time for each of them to find the person that they are meant to be with and get their Happily Ever Afters. This is Denver and Cleo’s story.
Cleo has recently lost her father after his battle with COPD, Chip was also Denver’s mentor, he taught him how to fly bush planes and Denver worked for him at Lifetime Adventure. Now that Chip has passed he left both Denver and Cleo the company, so here’s the question did Chip know what was going to happen once they started working together?
Denver has this happy go lucky personality that covers up his true feelings and I am so glad we finally got to see what was hidden behind his facade. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Cleo and Denver together I’ll be honest but she grew on me, she wasn’t the stuck-up princess she looked to be thankfully. Cleo was a tad lost in life and Denver was the perfect person to help her find her place.
I love the little town of Lake Starlight and I don’t blame Denver one bit for never wanting to leave it. I cannot recommend this series enough. Each of the books can be read as a standalone but I would suggest reading them in order because they are based around a family of nine siblings so there is a ton of crossover with characters.
Happy Reading!!!
Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy is now my favorite Of the series! Denver and Cleo captured my heart from the very beginning! Denver is the ultimate bad boy that makes you drool but bad boy in a good way! He makes you smile, laugh, cry and swoon! Cleo and Denver are thrown together when Chip Cleo’s dad passes away. No spoilers here just read it already! You won’t be disappointed it is wonderful! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but loved it so much I purchased my own copy.
Let me start off by saying how happy I am to Cleo wasn’t what I expected. I didn’t have to warm up to her like I thought I would. Within the first few pages I was already thinking her first impression in the previous book wasn’t all there was to her. By the time I read her funny job history I was sold and that was less than 10% in.
I knew I’d like Denver. I just knew it. And I wasn’t disappointed. Then again I love to see a playboy get tamed. Especially when they are essentially a good person which Denver was.
I also again enjoyed catching up with the Bailey family, even in the sad or not so joyous moments that they had in this story.
As usual I’m looking forward to the next book.
Loved this one! Go find your book!
Just when I thought I finally had those Baileys all figured out, along comes Denver. I always believed he was the carefree one, the sibling with the least amount of worries. The devil may care attitude was something I had come to rely on almost, well …until Cleo crashes onto the page and sends not only Denver but me bouncing off the walls like a rubber ball.
Broken, and uncertain. Cleo comes to Lake Starlight, never expecting to discover the hidden gems that are this small town and its inhabitants. Cleo was relatable and I quickly understood her actions and the emotions behind them.
There is no Bailey tale without G’ma D. Dori. She’s the centre of the family and the light that shines the brightest. She’s a blue hair dyed, meddler, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Dory understands her family, how each and everyone of them ticks and what they need. Even when it’s what they resist and push against.
After reading the ramblings at the back of this book, I am so happy these wonderful authors went the way they did with this story. They allowed it to morph into its very own thing. Something these two are synonymous with.
This is an emotionally fuelled read. How could it not be when it comes to this family. They’ve had their fair share of ups and downs and living under a microscope hasn’t diminished that for one moment. Denver and Cleo made sense. They complimented each other. They guided one another into taking chances they wouldn’t normally have taken.
When I started reading this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I mean there are some books you just have to read and others sound interesting, but you just don’t feel it. But of course I read this book anyway and, oh boy, I’m so frickin’ glad I did.
At the beginning, and after Sav and Liam’s book, I wasn’t a big fan of Cleo. I mean, I didn’t mind her when she had her little appearance in the previous book, but i also wasn’t much interested in her that much.
But all that changed the minute i read the first chapter from her point of view. She was so different than I expected but I could relate to her immediately. Well done, Piper Rayne!
And Denver, oh my, i kind of fell in love with him. He has so many layers i did not expect and it was so surprising to see him for who he really is.
The story of these two was so exciting and they are just made for each other. Also I had to laugh quite a lot because their behaviour was so funny!
Can’t recommend this book enough! It was such a surprise but amazing read and with each book I fall harder for all the Baileys.
Wow, this was so good. I’m giving it 5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going in besides some enemies-to-lovers vibes based on past snippets of these two, and also the summary. I also wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Denver, but he blew me away. I actually loved him from the beginning of the book despite the fact that he was a playboy (at least in the past). I also didn’t think he was that self-centered, especially when it came to Cleo.
Cleo grew on me the more I read, but I wasn’t her biggest fan right away. She seemed kind of judgmental, and rude, sometimes. But by the end of the book, I loved these two separately, and together. They were a perfect couple in my opinion, and it was sweet that they were able to work with each other, meaning they were together 24/7.
Getting to see more of The Baileys was amazing as always, and I can’t wait to continue with this family. I will say this book hit me with a lot of feels, and I found myself crying while reading. This series is one of my all-time favorites; each book has been fantastic, and I highly recommend. If you haven’t read anything by this duo of authors yet, what are you waiting for?
Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy is the fifth book in The Baileys’ series. This fast-paced, well written captivating and emotionaromance story with it’s witty banter, humor, unexpected plot twist, sexual tension, some drama, wonderful characters, and sizzling chemistry will have you laughing out loud one minute and crying the next. A truly great read.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.
So Denver was like the Bailey I was least excited about from all I’ve read in the other books in the series so this is quite unexpected but he is rivaling Liam here and topped Rome (heh he really is the better twin) just kidding I still love Rome. Now I really really really need Junos story this whole will she or won’t see with Colton thing is killing me and I need it resolved. I completely am in love with this family. It will probably forever be one of my favorites.
This was my first Piper Rayne book, but definitely not my last. <3
Demise of a Self Centered Playboy is a small-town romance that has so much love, family and hilarious moments, I could not get enough of it! Denver is the definition of trouble but when the death of a friend leaves him half of a business and a new partner Cleo, things are going to change!
The chemistry between Denver and Cleo is hilarious and intense and left me swooning! I cannot get enough of the Bailey Family! Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better!! I can’t even pick a favorite at this point, I love them all!
Oh so good! I loved it. You definitely get to see a completely different side to Denver. Him and Cleo were a great match. He was kind of the push she needed for a lot of things but she was also good at pulling him back some. Together they worked really well and I just overall loved the book and this series!
I love these Bailey men they shock and amaze me all at the same time. Denver helped Cleo deal with the loss of her dad. In the process showing his true self. Denver had to chase Cleo down but he got what he flew all the way to Dallas for.
Demise of a Self-Centered Playboy is the latest in The Baileys series, and while they can be read as standalone’s I highly recommend reading them all!
I’ve fallen head over heels for the Bailey siblings the last few months and was definitely excited for Denver’s book. With the glimpses we’ve gotten from the first few books I knew there would be a lot more to his puzzle, and we finally have all the pieces.
Portrayed as the life-long playboy who will never settle down, Denver is way more than meets the eye. He’s a softie at heart and keeps his true feelings buried deep inside. But Cleo brings out sides of him he didn’t even know to exist, anger & resentment and then feeling’s he never believed he was capable of.
Cleo is back in Lake Starlight to get what’s rightfully hers – the inheritance and company her father left her. Until she finds out that he didn’t leave it all to her, and now she’s stuck working with the one man she can’t stand. Confused & lost, Cleo doesn’t realize just how much she needs Lake Starlight, the people who live there or the memories left of her father.
I loved the bickering and banter between these characters, how their hatred thawed but didn’t leave us with an overly lovey-dovey couple. The progression of their relationship was perfect, and I absolutely loved everything about Denver. In signature Bailey fashion, this book is full of hilarious and sweet moments. While there weren’t as many sibling scenes as I would have liked, we did get to check in on the rest of the family. I loved getting a lot more Phoenix, and the set up for her book has me so excited.
